Kast Media‘s shady dealings have earned it the ire of creators, and a lawsuit could soon follow. Investigative YouTuber Coffeezilla took a deep dive into Kast’s financials after comedian Theo Von claimed that the podcast network defrauded its partners out of $4 million.
The official website for Kast Media describes it as “one of the fastest growing and most exciting podcast networks and publishers in podcasting.” Kast built its library by making deals with comedians (including Von and Whitney Cummings), athletes (Brandon Schaub), and writers (Jim Cornette).
In July, word began to spread about Kast’s financial woes. Cornette revealed that the network owed him payments and was threatening to declare bankruptcy. Von threw fuel on the fire in September by raising his own nonpayment claims. He said that Kast owed its partners “up to $4 million” in total.
Just wanted to warn folks about @colinpthomson. This man defrauded our podcast and others.

This month’s installment of Deep Cuts Rising features a variety of horror movies, with each one reflecting a special event or day in May.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s offerings include a tense battle between mothers, a tale of evil in the suburbs, a fast-food slasher, a twisty wartime horror story, and an indie slow burn with a Hitchcockian vibe.
You’ll Like My Mother (1972)
Directed by Lamont Johnson.
The movie stars Oscar winner Patty Duke as young widow Francesca, who’s visiting her late husband’s mother (Rosemary Murphy) for the first time at a remote house in snowy Minnesota. Soon things take a turn when Francesca becomes not only stranded at her in-law’s house, but also drugged and taken prisoner.

It 2 is gearing up to return to Derry this summer and director Andres Muschietti is ready, sharing pictures of he and the cast and some new concept art of the headless boy from the first movie. It was first reported that the sequel was going to begin production this June in Toronto under the working title of Drive Thru, but that information has changed. Instead, it looks like It 2 production will begin in July with the working title of Largo. Andres Muschietti has been teasing the production start for a few months on social media.
Andres Muschietti took to Instagram to post a picture of himself and the young cast of It 2 from the set of the first movie with a caption that reads, "Wake up, losers. Derry is calling." As if working in the fast food industry wasn't stressful enough, an intrepid prankster decided to up the creep factor for some unsuspecting drive-thru staff by modifying the old “invisible driver” trick. The resulting video, appropriately titled Drive Thru Scary Doll Driver, features a deranged doll – basically dressed like Chucky, but with long, luxurious locks - leering at them from the driver's seat. Pretty basic move, but some of the reactions (“Imma Instagram this joint!”) are priceless. Drive Thru Scary Doll Driver...

Clowns – if you are one of them people that actually enjoy them prancing around with those huge, fake painted smiles then you really should watch these films to re-evaluate your standing on the matter.
Over the years there have been a plethora of horror movies completely dedicated to these creepy entertainers. I may get some degree of abuse from this but after watching the majority of these movies I have resorted to sleeping with my bedroom light on for a day or two afterwards. These clowns can take many guises, from demonic entities, aliens or your bog standard, deranged, psychopathic killers.
Here we count down the 10 scariest horror movie clowns to have graced our screens over the years…and if your curiosity takes the better of you and you do decide to watch one of these films, WhatCulture cannot be held liable for lack of sleep or an onset of Coulrophobia.

Remy and I like instant gratification just as much as the next guy - how could you not? Drive thru’s and insta-apps have made life so simple and easy, it’s almost disgusting. In many ways, we have become parodies of ourselves, refusing to move until we melt into the furniture of our bedrooms like a scene from Videodrome. So, of course, the idea of instantly accessing an entire database of films at your beckoning call is some sort of heaven, moving us one step closer to our human forms from Wall-e.
Streaming Netflix movies have only made this self-gratifying sloth like indulgence worse for us, which is why we love it. Click a movie and get to watch it? That’s some Willy Wonka levels of magic there, except all you need to do is press a button instead of sit through a song sang by little orange midgets.

In addition to creating several film and video shorts, she is also the writer and director of the Asian-influenced horror feature Wake the Witch (available on Netflix). As the COO of Unfiltered Entertainment, a privately owned production company, she has helped in fostering a creative community of artists who specialize in genre content. Her newest project, Blood Rites, is a well-shot, micro-budget horror feature that she co-wrote, produced and directed with the help of her dedicated team. In spite of our underwhelming review, Booraem generously gave her time (and refreshing sense of humor) to speak with Planet Fury about working with a low budget, her creative process and embracing negative criticism.

The crowd, which was composed mainly of fans who were hooked up through Samsung's Facebook page, was treated to an open bar, appetizers and even a few surprise guests.

You want me to pick you up something from the drive-thru, you give me a time and a place. I give you a five minute window. Anything you want, I'll order it and get it to you in about five minutes no matter what. But I don't go inside the restaurant. I don't do carry out. I just drive thru. If you've seen Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive (and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?!?) the above quote will make much more sense. It's Ryan Gosling's character's mantra adapted for fast food. That also happens to be the aim of the latest Funny or Die video Drive Thru. It takes the visuals, sounds and attitude of Drive and folds it into a kind of unclear, but still hilarious story of a man who picks up drive thru only to mistakenly come in possession a bag of burgers that don't belong to him.

In another senseless act of violence, the BBC reports that the Sony/Pias distribution centre warehouse in Enfield, North London was sadly destroyed in the riots in London on 8th August. Major labels such as Sony had their stock destroyed, but perhaps more disturbing is to hear of all the independent labels that have been affected. This will be this devastating to them and their artists who have worked so hard to build strong businesses around good independent music. Converse, maker of shoes, has sponsored a new song by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, Kid Cudi, and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino. According to Spin, the track, “All Summer,” “is part of Converse's Three Artists, One Song series, where three acts come together in the studio to write and record a new song.” The series’s inaugural iteration featured Julian Casablancas, Santigold (née Santogold), Pharrell, and a song called “My Drive Thru,” a kind of mishmash of guitar riffs, Game Boy sounds, and robotic vocals than end up sounding like Hot Hot Heat, of all things. Anyway, “All Summer” is much, much better. The pairing of vocals by Cosentino and Kid Cudi is a fun, pop-y mix, and Rostam’s production keeps the song from sounding like it’s striving too conspicuously for radio play—a trap that “My Drive Thru” walked right into. Fans may download “All Summer” at Converse’s Web site.

It's a little bit strange to think about, but "Weird Al" Yankovic has been scoring hits with song parodies for nearly 30 years. How has he managed to maintain a full career while other novelty songwriters fall by the wayside? He kept ahead of the game and stayed incredibly sharp. His commentary remains clever and biting, and he has been drifting away from parodying actual songs ("Smells Like Nirvana" and "Amish Paradise," for example) and getting into stuff that mocks things stylistically. (Not that he hasn't completely given up attacking specific tunes — his "Trapped in the Drive Thru," a fun-poker at R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet," was brilliant.)
His latest work is an Internet-only Ep called Internet Leaks, which collects five singles Yanokovic has dropped in the past year. There's the Doors parody ("Craigslist"), a tribute to actor Charles Nelson Reilly ("Cnr") and a sharp play on art school...

Spotted: The Queen B straying from her Upper East Side hive and making a break for the recording studio. Certainly Blair Waldorff wouldn't be caught dead "slumming it" in Williamsburg, but Leighton Meester may be headed to a stage near Brooklyn soon.
When she hasn't been stealing every scene on the CW’s Gossip Girl, the dark-eyed thud-worthy Meester has been busy putting together an electro-pop album with aspirations of sounding like her influences M.I.A. and Gwen Stefani. Those are some pretty lofty goals (especially in the M.I.A. department) and if her recently leaked song, "Birthday," (a New Republic cover) is any indication, she may want to reconsider her production team.

Intrepid inks scribes for 'Expendable'
NEW YORK -- Intrepid Pictures has acquired the graphic novel The Expendable One and signed Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles to write the screenplay for the superhero satire.
Intrepid Pictures partners Marc D. Evans and Trevor Macy will produce the feature, which centers on a typical suburban guy who accidentally injects himself with a serum that allows his body to heal from any injury.
