The biggest draw of Bar Rescue, other than witnessing the sheer chaos of trying to renovate bars across America, is the presence of Jon Taffer. Taffer hosts Bar Rescue and also brings what can only be described as "mob boss energy" to the picture. If he shows up in a bar, chances are he'll deliver a scathing rebuke to the owners, the staff, or both. But this approach is usually the kick in the pants that they need, and more often than not, Taffer's approach to revitalizing a struggling bar works. What Bar Rescue fans may not know is that there's an official spinoff of the series, titled Marriage Rescue.

Paramount Network is plotting more Wife Swap after the unscripted format delivered decent ratings in key demos for the Viacom-owned network.

The broadcaster has ordered a second season of the UK format with 20 new episodes. It comes from Banijay Studios North America.

The network said that compared to the same slot the previous year, the show was up +77% with P18-49 (0.35 rating), up +96% with W18-49 (0.44 rating) and up +75% with total viewers.

The first season launched on April 4, having moved from its original buyer Cmt. The show, which was originally due to air in February on Cmt, moved after Viacom’s realignment of Viitsacom entertainment cable networks under Kent Alterman and Chris McCarthy. Cmt had been a part of a group that also included Paramount Network and TV Land. The programming of the three networks was overseen by Keith Cox, who bought and developed the updated Wife Swap for Cmt.

Jon Taffer is no marriage counselor, but he knows that yelling profanities tends to help fix a troubled relationship. Or at least that appears to be part of his strategy on this Season 1 teaser of “Marriage Rescue,” which is exclusive to TheWrap.

“Marriage Rescue” is just like Taffer’s “Bar Rescue,” except for the part where he’s a legit, proven expert on the topic at hand. On this one,...
