Sony’s Kraven the Hunter movie is headed our way this Halloween season, and this week Sony has unleashed the official trailer for the rated “R” movie set in the Marvel universe.

Kraven the Hunter will be the very first Marvel movie from Sony to be released into theaters with an “R” rating, with lots of bloody violence being promised.

During the recent CinemaCon panel, star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) referred to the project as “a Marvel movie grounded heavily in the real world.”

“Fuck yeah, it will be rated R,” he promised attendees.

Peaky Blinders’ Helen McCrory is to play the British Prime Minister alongside Hugh Laurie in British drama Roadkill as PBS Masterpiece boards the four-part BBC series.

McCrory will be joined by Westworld’s Sidse Babett Knudsen and Dublin Murders’ Sarah Greene in the series, which is written by Collaterel’s David Hare and produced by National Treasure producer The Forge.

The cast is rounded out by Saskia Reeves (The Child in Time), Patricia Hodge (A Very English Scandal), Ophelia Lovibond (Hooten & the Lady), Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Katie Leung (Chimerica), Olivia Vinall (The Woman in White), Pippa Bennett-Warner (Harlots) Shalom Brune-Franklin (Our Girl), Pip Torrens (Preacher), Millie Brady (The Last Kingdom) and Danny Ashok (Deep Water).

Hugh Laurie, the Golden Globe-winning star of “House” and “The Night Manager,” will play a beleaguered politician in a new four-part thriller for the BBC, “Roadkill,” from acclaimed playwright and screenwriter David Hare. The series is being produced by The Forge (“Collateral”).

Laurie stars as Peter Laurence, a charismatic Conservative Party government minister who remains remorseless and guilt-free even as shameful revelations about his personal life emerge. Rivals plot to undermine him while he continues to pursue his ambitions.

Rumors about the project have been circulating for weeks. While the series is apparently not directly modeled on current Conservative British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, parallels will nonetheless be drawn.

Fresh from his turn as backstabbing U.S. senator Tom James in HBO's hit satire Veep, Hugh Laurie is taking his political chops back over the Atlantic.

Not many people know this, but Ben Stiller plays a mean set of drums. Although Stiller comes from a family of celebrated actors, his early creative endeavor was an experimental noise band he started drumming for when he was still in middle school. The brainchild of Kriss Roebling, a well known urban explorer and childhood friend of Stiller’s, the short-lived band was called Capital Punishment. A blend of post-punk with noise rock, avant garde, industrial, jazz, krautrock, and no wave, the band quietly released one record in 1982 and never played any shows.

A fascinating and frequently hilarious new 40-minute documentary titled “Roadkill: The Stories of Capital Punishment,” charts the band’s origins from high school hobby to a surprising resurgence nearly forty years later.

Ben Stiller’s teenage punk band Capital Punishment unveiled a remake of one of their earliest tracks, “Confusion,” which will appear on their upcoming Ep, This Is Capital Punishment. The record will be released physically November 23rd, while a digital version arrives December 7th, via Captured Tracks.

The new version of “Confusion” opens with a mix of razor-sharp guitars and gurgling synths that fill the space between Stiller’s crisp drum hits. Capital Punishment vamp on this groove until suddenly the song transforms into a blistering rush of post-punk and noise.

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming shark thriller 47 Meter Down. The movie stars Mandy Moore and Claire Holt as they go out on a little shark sightseeing journey that goes horribly wrong when the shark cage they are in sinks to the bottom of the ocean in shark infested waters. That's what I call a fun vacation!

The movie was directed by Johannes Roberts (Hellbreeder, Roadkill, The Other Side of the Door) and I think that it looks like a ton of fun! I love a good thrilling shark movie! However, encountering a shark in real life sucks ass! I remember once when I was out surfing I saw a shark and the adrenaline rush of fear that ran through me body is something I'll never forget. I still get nervous just thinking about it.

Everyone seems to love a good movie about killer sharks and we have a trailer for a new one coming out called 47 Meters Down. As a bonus, the whole movie revolves around Mandy Moore and Claire Holt being attacked by sharks while they are stuck in a cage at the bottom of the ocean.

The movie comes from director Johannes Roberts (Hellbreeder, Roadkill, The Other Side of the Door) and it looks like it could actually be a fun flick that will offer some intense and thrilling moments. The trailer does a great job building up the sispense. If you enjoyed Blake Lively's film The Shallows I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

Shark movies are back, baby. Hot on the heels (relatively speaking, in moviemaking terms) of last summer’s surprise hit “The Shallows” (never forget that seagull), “Hellbreeder” and “Roadkill” director Johannes Roberts is offering up his own take on the ol’ “hey, maybe don’t go in the ocean” formula that Steven Spielberg so perfected with his “Jaws.”

Exclusive: ICM Partners has signed British actress and singer Eliza Bennett. The 22-year-old performer is best known for her role opposite Helen Mirren and Paul Bettany in New Line’s Inkheart; she’ll next appear opposite James D’Arcy on the upcoming second season of ITV crime drama Broadchurch, and also currently stars on the fifth season of Cinemax’s action series Strike Back. Bennett got her screen start in 2004’s The Prince and Me and followed with turns in Nanny McPhee, From Time to Time, Perfect Life, and horror pics The Expelled and Roadkill. Upcoming films include a turn in Derrick Borte’s indie thriller H8TRZ with Abigail Spencer and Jeremy Sisto, which ICM is repping. Bennett, who recently hit the West End stage in geek musical Loserville, is also repped by Independent in the UK and manager Melanie Greene.

SyFy is getting in the Halloween spirit, programming the "original" film Scarecrow on October 5th.  Shallow Ground and Kaw director Sheldon Wilson directs while Rick Suvalle (Roadkill, V.I.P.) writes.  Lacey Chabert (Lost in Space, Black Christmas) stars.

A few months ago, we gathered some of our favourite writers together in a dark basement to tell spooky stories. The event, called Den of Eek!, was a great success: we sold out the entire venue, made loads of money for charity, and had fun at the same time.

Why are we telling you this now? It’s not just to taunt you if you couldn’t make it. It’s because now we’re publishing an ebook of all the stories read that night. It features twelve short stories by twelve brilliant people – here’s the rundown:

Oh, if only The Asylum actually was producing a movie called Snow White and the 2-Headed Shark. I would watch that in a heartbeat. But they do have a new dark fantasy retelling of Snow White in the works, and we have new artwork for 2-Headed Shark Attack.

When I saw that The Asylum had updated its website to announce a supernatural Snow White in the works, my very first thought was as to what must have brought this on. Then I remembered that one of the big movies for next summer is Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart as an extra pouty Snow White. The Asylum will be beating Universal to the punch by several months with a Valentine's Day DVD release of Grimm's Snow White.

SyFy might be slashing and burning their lineup of science-fiction serials (buh-bye Eureka and Sgu), but they're still going strong with their creature features. Over the years, the Maneater Series has brought us such treasures as Yeti, Wyvern, Behemoth, Ferocious Planet, Hybrid, Carny, and many more. Is it the best science-fiction has to offer? Well, no, but it's dumb entertainment that lets you grab some popcorn for a Saturday afternoon of fanged/tentacled/clawed bliss. More middle of nowhere horror ensues when an unsuspecting group of weekend partyers fall prey to an ancient creature. Vivendi Entertainment has announced that the Syfy original film Roadkill will hit DVD on August 16. Headlined by Kacey Barnfield ( Resident Evil: Afterlife ), Eliza Bennett ( Inkheart ), and Oscar nominee Stephen Rea ( The Crying Game ), what begins as a scenic road trip through Ireland soon turns deadly for a group of friends when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a bloodthirsty bird of prey. Helplessly stranded in the backwoods of the massive predator's territory, they soon become the ultimate game with little chance for escape. The suggested retail price for the title will by $14.93.

In advance of April 23rd, 2011, debut of Syfy Original Film Roadkill, Dread Central had an opportunity to chat with screenwriter Rick Suvalle about his approach to this project and how he managed to make it slightly different than the average Syfy Original entry.

I can tell you from personal experience writing a Syfy Original Film is not easy. You know going in budgets are thin (transparent even), the special effects aren’t going to be very good, and casting is always a game of Russian roulette with four bullets in the cylinder. So, as a writer, you have to try and compensate for all of those hazards up front: use modest locations, limit special effects screen time, and include no complex dialogue or characters which require too much acting muscle. Yet, you still have to deliver the goods and tell a compelling, visually interesting story even though you don’t...

Way back in August of last year, director Johannes Roberts screened his high-school horror flick F at the London Film4 FrightFest, at the post film Q&A Roberts announced that he and actress Eliza Bennett has flown in from Ireland where they are shooting a, and I quote:

Giant bird movie… involving a gypsy curse.

I managed to confirm with him in an interview for the films DVD release recently that the the film was, as I surmised at the time, Roadkill, a Syfy channel original movie about a group of friends who take a scenic Rv road trip to their high-school reunion. Their cross-country adventure takes a decidedly unexpected turn when an ancient Gypsy curse takes wing by way of a giant flesh-eating bird of prey.

Well now, the folks at the Syfy channel have finally released the official synopsis for the film, along with the first trailer; and...

It comes as no surprise that the trailer for Rhi Entertainment's Roadkill would quickly pop up online once Syfy announced the Stephen Rea-starring monster movie's April 23rd premiere date. More surprising is that this Syfy movie about hit & run, gypsy curses, and a giant bird of prey doesn't look too shabby.

Kate and her brother, Joel, have gathered their five best friends for a scenic Rv road trip to their high school reunion. But their cross-country adventure is about to take an unexpected turn for the worst when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a massive creature. It’s called the Simuroc, and this gigantic bird of prey has found the perfect, helpless quarry in Kate and company. Stranded in the backwoods of the predator’s territory, there’s little chance for escape.

I really don't think the title Roadkill suits a movie with a premise like that.

EW has reported that Syfy has gained the rights to all 31 episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which ran for two seasons on Fox from 2008-09. The Sarah Conner Chronicles will launch on Syfy on Thursday, April 7 at 9 p.m., with an airing of Terminator 3 for a lead-in. Its regular time slot will be Thursdays from 7 to 11 p.m. I'm stoked because I really liked thsi show and kinda blame it on the wrtier's strike for its demise.

Another former Fox sci-fi fan favorite is heading to cable: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has been picked up by Syfy.

EW can exclusively report that Syfy has gained the rights to all 31 episodes of the series, which ran for two seasons on Fox from 2008-09. This will mark the first time the show has aired off broadcast.

F is a film in a genre termed “hoodie horror.” Whilst I personally dislike that description, it’s the best way of telling you all you need to know about F. “Hoodie horror” probably began with the quite fantastic Eden Lake and has begun to take British horror in a new direction.

These films more of a commentary on society than out and out horror flicks, with teenagers taking matters into their own hands. Whilst generally wearing the most hated of all clothing items, the hoodie, used to here to eerie effect by completely obscuring the faces of the teens in question.

The film is set in a regular secondary school, beginning with teacher Mr Anderson (David Schofield) giving one of his pupils an “F” grade on their work. The young man takes great offence at this and assaults Mr Anderson resulting in a leave of absence for the teacher.

Windmill Lane are posting two feature projects for Parallel Films. 'The Other Side' and 'Roadkill', are being made for the Syfy channel, both filmed in Ireland during summer 2010 and are currently in the hands of Windmill's VFX team. Gráinne Gavigan (The Clinic) 'The Other Side' which is directed by BAFTA nominee, Billy O'Brien (The Tale of the Rat that Wrote) and stars Joe Flanigan (The Other Sister) and John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark).
