Nicolas Cage has some new co-stars. Two more actors have just joined the cast of Spider-Noir, the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man Noir.
According to Deadline, Amy Aquino (Bosch) and Andrew Robinson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) have been added to the recurring cast of Spider-Noir. Outside Bosch, in which she starred as Lt. Grace Billets, Aquino is known for her recurring roles in Being Human, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Brothers & Sisters, and most recently appeared as Judge Thelma Hollub in Clint Eastwood's 2024 drama Juror #2. As for Robinson, he seems to have taken a step back from acting in the mid-2000s, although he voiced an alternate version of his Deep Space Nine character Elim Garak in an episode of the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks last year.

Levi Hummon & Runaway June, “Cowboy Take Me Away”
A Dixie Chicks staple is reborn. When “Cowboy Take Me Away” hit the radio airwaves in November 1999, the song represented a woman’s yearning for a storybook romance. Two decades later, it unfolds like a conversation between two lovers, with Levi Hummon’s first verse adding a male perspective.

Kew Media Distribution have announced they will be releasing the new horror feature Itsy Bitsy on UK digital platforms from 14th October. Directed and produced by Micah Gallo (Wick) alongside special effects master Dan Rebert (True Blood), Itsy Bitsy stars Bruce Davison, Elizabeth Roberts, Denise Crosby, Arman Darbo and Chloe Perrin.
Itsy Bitsy weaves a character-driven story of responsibility, love and loss set against a terrifying backdrop of chilling scares and monstrous legends. When Kara (Elizabeth Roberts) a single mother struggling to raise two children in New York City, receives a job offer to work as a private nurse in the mid-West, it’s an opportunity she can’t refuse. So, she uproots her family, moving them to the remote farm owned by Walter (Golden Globe®-winner Bruce Davison), a semi-retired antiquities appraiser who has multiple sclerosis. At first, things seem normal enough. But what Kara doesn’t know is...

Julius Amedume’s neo-noir psychological thriller “Rattlesnakes,” rock documentary “Suzi Q” and the elevated horror thriller “Itsy Bitsy” are among the new titles that Kew Media Distribution will be introducing to buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market, which kicks off Thursday.
They join a slate that includes three buzz-worthy documentaries: Rodney Ascher’s “Glitch in the Matrix, Michael Jackson expose “Leaving Neverland,” one of the talking points at Sundance, and Nick Broomfield’s “Marianne & Leonard – Words of Love,” also a hot title in Park City.
Scripted and directed by Amedume, “Rattlesnakes” tells the story of California life guru and family man Robert McQueen. What begins as a typical day of therapy sessions with his clients takes a turn for the worse… He’s expecting to meet a regular client in a rented apartment, but instead he’s ambushed by three masked men and held hostage.

Google’s Year in Search was posted on Wednesday, and the data-rich lists prove that food was definitely on the mind in 2017.
The food-focused categories included the most searched for calorie counts, recipes, cocktails, and cookbooks. When it came to calories, people were very concerned about one magical drink and loads of fast food.
The top spot was none other than the short-lived Unicorn Frappuccino that caused a social media frenzy earlier this year. Curious users questioned how many calories were in the colorful creation— and the answer comes in at 410 per serving. Of course, that steep calorie count and...

I have a feeling Taylor Swift is loosening up. If you only heard the first two singles from her recently released album, Reputation - "Look What You Made Me Do" and "...Ready For It?" - you might think that Taylor's newfound focus is on nothing but karma and revenge. But take a closer listen to the catchy songs that you'll actually have on repeat, and you'll notice a few recurring themes throughout nearly all 15 songs: outspoken lyrics about drinking, sex, and relatable, "edgier" topics that have previously been uncharted territory for Taylor. As someone whose knowledge of Taylor Swift's music spans all the way back to the days of 2008's Fearless (and whose fan status begrudgingly remains despite recognition of Taylor's mistakes and failed attempts to resist her music), I appreciate this. Not because talking about drinking makes you a cool person or because "sexy" songs automatically make great ones,...

The key to selecting the one that’s right for you is to figure out which kind of traveler you are. Do you need a style that makes your laptop easily accessible so you don’t have to dilly dally in those obnoxious airport security lines?...

We’ve always known Taylor Swift was a genius songwriter. Her ability to pen such witty and creative lyrics that are universally applicable to anyone’s life is unmatched.

“I never trust a narcissist, but they love me / So I play 'em like a violin, and I make it look oh-so-easy.”
The opening line of “I Did Something Bad,” off of Taylor Swift’s newest album, Reputation, -- available now via iTunes -- is loaded with enough contradiction to make your head spin.
On one hand, it’s delightfully baffling to hear the word “narcissist” being levied by one of the world’s biggest pop stars -- who is literally launching a social media app that is entirely focused on herself. And yet, in its own frustrating way, the line is a cathartic moment of apparent honesty from an artist traditionally so guarded in “curated authenticity,” that we’ve never stopped questioning who the real Taylor is. If you choose to, it’s not hard to relate to the feeling -- allowing mistrust in your love life to consume you, to the point of...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the saddest show? Which show makes you cry the most? (Old and current shows are all fair game.)
Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter
I just wrote something on this very topic! And I think these are two different questions. Which show makes me cry the most? In the balance across its entire series run? I think the answer has to be “Friday Night Lights.” I’m a sucker for underdog sports stories in general, but “Friday Night Lights” could make me cry in so many different ways, from what happens to Jason Street in the pilot to what Matt Saracen goes through in...

‘Things Blowing Up Good’ has been surefire entertainment since the beginning of cinema, but this ill-fated Cinerama extravaganza about the biggest explosion in recorded human history limps along despite some pretty darned impressive volcanic effects. It’s quite an entertaining spectacle, with various good performers in three soap opera plots, either overacting or loitering about with nothing to do. And don’t forget the from-left-field musical striptease.

It took 12 whole episodes, but Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) has finally returned to our television screens.
The Twin Peaks chat rooms, message boards and Twitter feeds have been speculating for years on end about where we would find her and how (Is she in Hollywood? Is she the mysterious billionaire in New York? Is she still in a coma? Was she horribly disfigured in the bank explosion? Is she now running One Eyed Jacks?). But I am fairly certain that no one saw this outcome, this development, this new Audrey.
At first I found it confusing and jarring: that weird guy is Audrey’s husband?...

I know it's not the third film in the film trilogy that we've all been hoping for, but it's still pretty cool.
Hellboy Hell Water is small batch naturally flavored cinnamon whiskey. It is micro-distilled, hand bottled and styled in the old traditional process of making Southern Corn Whiskey. Old fashioned corn whiskey uses only the finest corn, natural ingredients, spring water, glassware and craftsmanship.
The Hell Water whiskey is 66.6 proof and it's set to be released on April 14th and will cost around $19.99 per bottle.

The whole murderous-alien-aboard-a-spaceship trope has been around since at least 1958’s “It! The Terror From Beyond Space,” which was initially viewed as a typical, below-average drive-in movie about a doomed Mars expedition. Of course, that movie suddenly took on more importance when the creative team behind “Alien” cited it as a major inspiration. Since “Alien,” of course, there have been countless riffs on this idea (including a handful of actual “Alien” sequels and spin-offs) — a ragtag crew of space explorers or profiteers venture into some darkened corner of the galaxy in the name of scientific progress or capitalism, unwittingly encounter vicious otherworldly killing machines, and get turned into bloody zero-g globs.

Gaga flew under the radar in the audience at Rose Bar's jazz night Tuesday in NYC ... that is, until she grabbed the mic. We're told it even surprised the staff, who closed the doors after she took the floor. Check out the video ... the entire room is hanging on her every note.

I've seen it all. New York City is soon to be home to Beetle House, a Tim Burton-themed bar. Slashfilm says the establishment, which comes from the same guys who created a Will Ferrell-themed bar last year, will embody the feel of Burton's films...but probably not Batman. The whole idea — even for the most average of Burton fans like myself — sounds pretty cool. The drink list gives you a feel of the place. It all sounds good...but man, look at those NYC drink prices!

Who’s that girl? It’s definitely not Jess.
Tuesday’s episode of New Girl, at long last, introduced us to Megan Fox‘s Reagan, a pharmaceutical sales rep staying in downtown Los Angeles on business. Even with Michael Dougherty’s Krampus invading theaters this year, Chris Kasick’s Uncle Nick will assuredly be the creepiest Christmas tale of the holiday season. Demonic elves and killer toys might get a few screams, but there’s nothing more horrifying than a drunken Uncle who’s contemplating some inter-step-family boinking. Mike Demski’s screenplay scrutinizes every family-get-together cliché in this Yuletide clusterf#ck, with the sleaze factor jacked up to sloppy, mythical levels of alcoholic debauchery. This is the family dinner every dysfunctional family dreads, especially if memories of Cleveland-based sports teams are only more cause for sadness. Forget about a bad Santa, this Christmas is all about one bad uncle.
Posehn stars as the lewd, crude, and far-too-jolly Uncle Nick, who kicks off his Christmas Eve with a whiskey Old Fashioned that never seems to find itself fully empty. His brother, Cody (Beau Ballinger), invites Nick over...

Directed by Guy Hamilton
Screenplay by Richard Maibaum and Paul Dehn
Starred: Sean Connery, Honor Blackman
Released September 1964 by United Artists
Even if you had never seen this film, just as with Ursula Andress rising from the waves like a bikini-clad version of Botticelli’s Venus in Dr. No, you’d recognize the iconic image. The girl, the bed, the gold paint. The sight of gilded Shirley Eaton spread out on the sheets is so evocative that – like Ursula – it was subjected to an ironic nod in a later Bond film. If Halle Berry wore the updated bikini in Die Another Day, instead of gold Gemma Arterton did sheet-duty wearing nothing but a coat of oil for Quantum of Solace.
Gold was the symbol of wealth in 1964, but in today’s world of global warming and fuel station queues, hydrocarbons have taken its place in the cultural lexicon. And...

Pyar karne wale kabhi darte nahin jo darte hain woh pyar karte nahin. 32 years ago Meenakshi Sheshadri had lip-synced Anand Bakshi’s famous words about boundless, unchained, unstoppable love.
Now it’s the striking debutant Athiya Shetty who mouths these words, though we don’t see her saying it. Just feeling it.
Which is really in the fitness of things. This 2015 adaptation of Subhash Ghai’s 1983 musical blockbuster captures the impish bustle and the unbridled impetuousness of first love from the original, and merges these into something slightly sinister and dark.
Because, folks this is 2015. Love at first sight is not a tenable target for a lifetime of togetherness. There are more practical considerations to be gone through before love conquers the pay cheque. Nikhil Advani’s remake of a film about a highly melodratic love is rendered into practical pastel pastiche of passion pain and rebellion.
Hero looks and feels posh.

If the ‘faith and family’ film-makers’ task is to proselytize, they are doing a wretched job with these cheap, risible films
If you just can’t wait for that first Republican primary debate to get some vague talking points about duty, honor and the healing power of Christ’s love inarticulately blurted in your face, have I got the movie for you! PureFlix Entertainment, the Arizona-based purveyor of (per their subscription-based streaming website) “faith and family movies” that hit big with God’s Not Dead, has followed up the recent Old Fashioned and Do You Believe? with their worst movie yet. At least the others had ludicrous storylines worthy of ridicule. This one is just plain boring.

Wild Tales Because it's in a foreign language Wild Tales was never going to be a massive hit stateside, but trust me, this is a movie you're going to want to give a shot as six short stories come together for a wildly hysterical anthology of revenge gone wrong. You can read my theatrical review right here.
Run All Night Sean's review of this one was just posted this morning (read it here) and he seems to have had mostly the same impression I had when seeing it in theaters (read my review here), which is to say it's something of a ho hum actioner, but does sport some solid performances.

As I’ve mentioned a few times already this year, horror is a genre that doesn’t get a whole lot of respect. The same goes for remakes in general, so when you discuss horror remakes, you can expect a distant lack of appreciation. Still, there are some gems to be found, and with the release this weekend of a Poltergeist remake, I wanted to count down the best that this sub-genre has to offer. You might think that there’s a complete dearth of quality, but I was able to find a solid handful of titles that make for a more than respectable lineup. Here now are the ten best horror remakes of all time: 10. Halloween – Not an incredibly popular choice, I know, but my heart has a soft spot within it for this one. I’m honestly not sure why, but I jived with what musician turned writer...

<< Continued from "Weekend Report: 'Grey' Makes Green Over Valentine's Day Weekend"Kingsman: The Secret Service was arguably more impressive than Fifty Shades of Grey this weekend. Playing at 3,204 locations, the comic book adaptation opened to $36.2 million, which is in the same ballpark as recent action movies Taken 3 ($39.2 million) and The Equalizer ($34.1 million). For the four-day weekend, it earned $41.7 million, which trounces past President's Day titles like The Wolfman, Constantine, Jumper, and A Good Day to Die Hard.Fox's decision to schedule Kingsman against Fifty Shades of Grey raised some eyebrows: was it really possible for this R-rated action movie to make money against the Valentine's Day juggernaut that is Fifty Shades? In hindsight, this seems like a particularly savvy move: by providing such a stark contrast, the movie wound up being the de facto counter choice over the holiday weekend.Of course, scheduling alone won't do the trick*the...

Old-fashioned is right. Like how the Taliban is old-fashioned. Behold some pretty despicable passive-aggressive othering of women in the name of “respect.” I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of “faith-based” movies
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
So, this is the film being offered up as the Christian alternative to Fifty Shades of Grey. Which turns out to be rather appropriate, for the “hero” of Old Fashioned is his own sort of controlling, demanding, and precisely, meticulously detailed about how women may and may not interact with him. He’s got a lot of rules that must be followed. It’s just that here, those rules come from Jesus in some nebulous, undefined way.

6th Update, Monday Actuals, 3:20 Pm: Paramount’s SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out Of Water came in with $635K less than its weekend estimate reported yesterday of $56M. Still, it’s a great gross for this time of year, especially when there aren’t a lot of kids out of school. Per Rentrak, only 1% of all K-12 and college students were off this Friday. That figure moves to 17% this Friday, and then 15% for the February 20-22 frame.

A handful of new specialty titles debuted rather quietly this weekend, leaving the story mostly to 2014-15 awards season hopefuls. Though notably of those newbies, two -- Freestyle's "Old Fashioned" and Magnolia's "Ballet 422" -- both managed strong bows on a couple screens. The former -- a love story about a born again former frat boy and a "free-spirited" woman -- grossed $40,800 from 3 theaters (for a $13,600 per-theater-average), while the latter -- a documentary about emerging ballet choreographer Justin Peck -- took in $26,000 from 2 houses (for a $13,000 PTA). Otherwise, it was mostly bad news for newcomers: Ryan Reynolds' comedic horror film "The Voices" (where he plays a potential serial killer who chats with talking animals) grossed only $12,000 from 12 theaters for a $1,000 average. Though distributor Lionsgate has also been pushing the film on VOD. Another VOD release -- poorly reviewed romantic comedy "Love, Rosie" --...
