Remember when TV’s biggest thrill was seeing what creature, villain, or supernatural horror awaited us every week?
Shows like The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural built entire fan bases around that “monster of the week” formula, and they had no mercy when it came to scaring the hell out of us.
They weren’t about long, winding plotlines; they were about delivering nightmares straight to your screen, one horrifying episode at a time.

But somewhere along the way, serialized TV took over, and those monsters we once dreaded started to vanish into the shadows — taking with them the kind of scares that keep you up at night, listening for creaks on the floorboards.
Today, television has moved away from weekly creature features in favor of story arcs that span an entire season — or even multiple seasons.

The impact that Kevin Wiliamson and Wes Craven had with Scream way back in 1996 is undeniable. “Ghostface” become quite a horror legend, As well, the classic feature spawned a new group of actors to popularity. Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Drew Barrymore (of course), and more. The features also offered up a stand-out performance was given by Matthew Lillard as “Stu Machner.” The actor is perhaps just as memorable in the classic than the three leads who survived a few more masked psychos along the way.
The actor continued to work in many a comedy. Even still it seems that he tends to get noticed as a horror guy. Thanks to movies like Scream, Thir13en Ghosts, and now Five Nights at Freddy’s, the dude has earned his genre cred. So much so that Lillard has moved into a few other lanes with his career. A spinoff series for the sitcom A Different World is now in early development at Netflix. Sources indicate that it will follow Dwayne and Whitley's daughter as she attends Hillman College. The project is led by writer/executive producer Felicia Pride, known for her work on the reboot of Bel-Air and Grey's Anatomy, along with executive producers Debbie Allen, Mandy Summers, Tom Werner, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Reggie Bythewood.
Netflix did not comment. However, the involvement of Allen, Werner, Prince-Bythewood, and Bythewood, the key figures from the original series, goes a long way to promising a return of this much-loved NBC sitcom that was spun off from The Cosby Show and had a run for six impacting seasons. The original show followed Denise Huxtable and her friends at Hillman College, a fictional historically Black college, played by Lisa Bonet. Familiars in Hades 2 are allies that Melinoe can bring along her runs throughout the Underworld. Much like crafting Incantations, Arcana Cards, or other upgrades to the Princesss kit, familiars require reagents. To both acquire and upgrade familiars in Hades 2, players need to find an abundance of Witchs Delight.
Witchs Delight is the primary reagent that you need to find and craft to recruit and upgrade familiars in Hades 2. Unlike other standard reagents, such as Moly or Ashes, you cannot get Witchs Delight from clearing out encounters or by picking flowers. Instead, you need to unlock specific Incantations, interact with strange objects, and enter into the rarest sections of the game to gain a beastly companion.

The Cannes Film Festival has long been like a second home for Romanian filmmakers, and actor-turned-director Emanuel Pârvu will continue that tradition when he ascends the steps of the Lumière Theater on May 17 for the premiere of “Three Kilometers to the End of the World,” which will compete for the Palme d’Or.
Pârvu’s third feature follows 17-year-old Adi (Ciprian Chiujdea), who’s spending the summer in his hometown in the Danube Delta. As he prepares for final exams and gets ready to start a new life, Adi is brutally attacked on the street, turning his world upside-down. Suddenly, the seemingly tranquil façade of his village begins to show its cracks, as Adi finds himself at odds with the customs and mores of his community.
“Three Kilometers to the End of the World” is written by Pârvu and his longtime collaborator Miruna Berescu, who produced the film for the FAMart Assn.

“Familiar” is one of those descriptors critics can twist into a positive or negative connotation. William Brent Bell’s folkloric Lord of Misrule basks in culty Pagan familiarity but not as cheap mimicry. If you’ve seen The Wicker Man, The Ritual, Kill List — I’ll spare you thirty more titles — you won’t be stricken dumbstruck by writer Tom de Ville’s ode to harvest rituals and wretched traditions. Bell’s not rewriting the book on insidious celebrations beneath all the synchronized dances and laughter, and yet, Lord of Misrule is an undeniably atmospheric venture into villages of the damned.
