Amy Schumer recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the new season of Life & Beth, which premieres this Friday on Hulu.
The dramedy focusing on the life of Beth, who starts having flashbacks to her teen self, earned plenty of plaudits for its unapologetic comedy. Accordingly, Hulu took little time in renewing it for a second chapter, which is set to be about parenting and relationships.
Amy Schumer and Michael Cera in Life & Beth
While Schumer’s comments on Season 2 of Life & Beth did instill some excitement among its fans, her appearance left many talking about a completely different subject.

Heading into Sunday’s Golden Globe ceremony, Ricky Gervais was not confident he would win the first-ever award for Best TV Stand-Up Comedy Performance. “I’m nominated for another Golden Globe tonight,” he wrote early Sunday about his “Armageddon” Netflix special. “Won’t win, but it’s nice to still be up there in the mix, flying the flag.” Well, he did end up winning, but he wasn’t in attendance to accept his prize.
Hours after the ceremony wrapped up, Gervais posted a three-word acceptance speech on social media as only he could: “I f***ing won!” The comedian accompanied the remark with a photo of him holding a Golden Globe from when he hosted the ceremony years earlier — see below.
I fucking won! pic.twitter.com/qi7np1J6KQ
— Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) January 8, 2024
Gervais later followed that up with some more, shall we say, heartfelt words of wisdom.

Heading into the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 7, “Succession” was the show to beat as it scored a record nine nominations — more than any other television show in history. Some of the other top nominees on the TV side were “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building” with five noms apiece, and “The Crown” with four bids. But which shows ended up being the big winners during the three-hour ceremony?
Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress was the first TV category handed out this year, and it went to Ali Wong (“Beef”), who is also predicted to prevail at next week’s Emmys. She beat out Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones & the Six”), Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”), Elizabeth Olson (“Love and Death”), Juno Temple (“Fargo”) and Rachel Weisz (“Dead Ringers”).

No, you’re not going crazy: the Golden Globes will be presenting a brand new award for Best TV Stand-Up Comedy Performance during the Sunday, January 7 telecast. The six inaugural nominees are some of the funniest emcees working today, but it’s Chris Rock who is predicted to make history by becoming the category’s first-ever winner, per Gold Derby odds. He’s nominated for his buzzed-about live Netflix special, “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” which drew eyeballs for the way in which he addressed the infamous Will Smith slap at the Oscars.
Rock has leading 18/5 odds to prevail on Sunday night. The other nominees, in descending order, are: “Trevor Noah: Where Was I” (Netflix) at 9/2 odds, “Ricky Gervais: Armageddon” (Netflix) at 9/2 odds, “Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer” (Netflix) at 11/2 odds, “Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love” (HBO) at 6/1 odds, and “Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact” (Netflix) at 15/2 odds.

In addition to a top-to-bottom organization overall, the Golden Globes has added two new categories for its next awards, for cinematic and box office achievement and stand-up comedy performance on television.
The creation for a box office achievement award is clearly a move to attract viewers who have tuned out kudofests in recent decades because they tend to focus on little-seen movies. The category honors artistically outstanding films that have grossed more than $150 million, with at least $100 million coming from the domestic box office, or have commensurate streaming viewership confirmed by a “trusted industry source.” Films released after Nov. 22 may qualify if their projected box office or viewership meets the benchmarks.
The field of contenders is surprisingly wide, with no fewer than 20 films eligible as of November, ranging from horror films, Marvel and DC Universe movies, action spectaculars and kid-friendly titles (including “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Elemental”) to...

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

Amy Schumer strikes out with several celebrities she asks to be emergency contact in a clip shared by Netflix on Monday ahead of the Tuesday premiere of “Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact.”
After telling her confused husband Chris Fischer she has no idea what name to put on the form, Schumer calls Jennifer Lawrence, who gives her the cold shoulder: “We were, like, barely friends 10 years ago. How did you get this number? I don’t want to get back in touch. Good luck with your health issue,” the actress says before hanging up.
Chris Rock is surprisingly enthusiastic, telling her, “Absolutely. You should call me if anything goes wrong, like Harvey Keitel in ‘Pulp Fiction.'” But she hangs up on him when he adds, “People are going to be rooting for your death.”
