Myslf - The New Statement in Fragrance (YSL Beauty)

The usual route of one finding out about this ad would be the presence of star Austin Butler ("Elvis", "Masters of Air") as the face of YSL; however, the ad escaped from my radar and I got word of it while checking director Julia Ducournau credits here (best known for the bizarre and amazing "Titane"). Let us be thankful for such partnership as it is quite unlikely that they'll team for a future film directed by her, one of the greatest new talents of French cinema.

"MYSLF" sells the act and experience of what means to be yourself, the idea of identity, as expressed by Butler as he talks about it, move around through spaces and through the crowd, in a fashionable style as those projects tend to go. It improves a little from usual schemes as he shows some skin (back muscles), which doesn't happen often with Hollywood stars while appearing on commercials, specially after fame. Great lighting, bright colors and some shadowy bits as the actor shows himself while describing what can be interpreted as the fragrance is.

Overall, a very nice job that serves its purpose of selling the brand and they got all the great talents, on-screen and off-screen, to show their act. 9/10.
