The stage is set for Andor Season 2, and with the show set to cover four years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there's a little bit of everything this season. From the expected to the unexpected Rogue One cameos, to the show's music, the return of Season 1's best characters, and Andor's emotional highs and lows, here is what I'm looking forward to this season.

1. K-2So and B2EMO

The two most essential droids in Cassian's life are his adorable droid B2EMO and his companion from Rogue One, K-2So. It's already been confirmed that Alan Tudyk will be back as K-2So. We'll finally get to see how the duo came together, and I can't wait to see how their story started.

The galaxy far, far away is about to get a lot creepier. Star Wars has always mixed action, adventure, and heart, but now it’s ready to explore something entirely new. I’ve been thinking about how the franchise could stretch its wings, and it seems Lucasfilm is already one step ahead, cooking up a project that promises to shake things up.

We’re used to lightsabers and space battles, but what happens when Star Wars leans into the shadows? Think less about heroics and more about the chills that come with the unknown.

The franchise has flirted with darker moments before, and I’m excited to see how they’ll dive deeper into that vibe. It’s a bold step, and it feels like the perfect time for something fresh.

Tony Gilroy, the mind behind ‘Andor’, dropped a hint about this at a preview event for the show’s second season.

Not so long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, Alfonso Cuarón was unintentionally influencing the future of the Star Wars franchise.

Andor star Diego Luna recently recalled that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) director Gareth Edwards originally pitched him on the film by comparing his vision to Cuarón’s Y tu mamá también (2001), which starred a young Luna.

“I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid. I grew up with the first trilogy and became a fanatic,” he explained to Vanity Fair of how he ended up going from mostly indie projects to the Disney franchise. “I played Jedi with my cousins, although I must admit that part of me was always drawn to the dark side. I can’t deny that. I was the smallest of all my friends, and I went crazy playing Star Wars.

While Isabela Merced is awaiting her April 13 debut on the new season of The Last of Us, she revealed she has learned her lesson about inadvertently letting spoilers slip out about her projects. Merced is set to play Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s upcoming Supermanmovie, and she told Entertainment Weekly she’s playing it safe after she unintentionally dropped a spoiler for the highly-anticipated superhero flick.

Merced, during a table read for Superman, sat in her spot with her character’s name on it and accidentally dropped the spoiler via her Instagram story. “I wasn’t even looking at anything else. I just saw my name, and then I saw ‘Hawkgirl, Isabela.’ I was like, F*** yeah! I’m going to share this, put it on my (Instagram) Story,” Merced said.

It's no secret that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went through significant reshoots. While it's never been confirmed, we've heard that Tony Gilroy was brought in to take charge of those, presumably meaning Gareth Edwards was forced to hand over control of the 2016 movie.

Regardless, the additional photography seemed to help, and Rogue One grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office following positive reviews. Since then, Gilroy has taken charge of Andor, a Disney+ TV series which finds Cassian Andor five years before his first meeting with Jyn Erso.

During a recent interview (via SFFGazette.com), the filmmaker reflected on Rogue One's reshoots when he said, "I’ll just say this: the [Rogue One] characters needed straightening out. They needed to be simplified. They needed to be simplified. They needed passion about something. They needed need."

Andor isn't a typical Star Wars TV series. Yes, it may be a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it's arguably unlike any Star Wars project before it. However, a slow-burn approach to storytelling and a greater focus on character drama and development combined to give us a truly phenomenal 12 episodes of television in 2022.

While select fans were quick to lord Andor's superiority over the likes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, showrunner Tony Gilroy has admitted that the series which helped launch Disney+ in 2019 deserves much of the credit.

Talking to Empire (via SFFGazette.com), he shared his belief that Andor "will never happen again," adding, "Not because we’re so great, but because no-one’s ever gonna start a show on this scale again, and shoot it practically, and have the resources and the protection to do something like this."

This month, we’ll see the end of “Andor” as the final run of episodes heads to Disney+ on and we’re learning from showrunner Tony Gilroy that the “Star Wars” spinoff series (a prequel to the events of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) got some major protectors to allow them to keep the magic.

Gilroy spoke with Empire Magazine, as he revealed they had “ultimate freedom” on the show and how everyone “down the line,” from the audience to Lucasfilm to Disney involved helped to protect that.

Tony Gilroy kicked off the story of the protagonist in Andor Season 1 with his search for his sister in Episode 1. Since then, Cassian Andor had become a wanted man and started a rebellion against the empire. However, we never got a closure on Cassian’s sister Kerri’s storyline. We only see Kerri in flashback scenes in the first season and a mention of her when Maarva discourages Cassian from looking for her.

Gilroy hasn’t forgotten about her, as he addressed that plotline during interviews. When asked if that story thread would be pulled on again in Season 2, Gilroy shared that it was a complicated answer. Gilroy might either entirely discard that storyline or take a chance and bring that dark, intricate plot into Star Wars.

Though the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer that screened during CinemaCon has not been (and likely won't) be released, a new TV spot for the latest instalment in the block-busting franchise has found its way online in fairly decent quality (via SFFGazette.com).

The teaser is mostly made up of footage from the first trailer, but there are a few news shots in here, including a terrifying look at the T-Rex dipping her head in the water right in front of a submerged (potential) victim.

This is likely a precursor to the "riverboat chase" scene that played out in Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park novel, but was not adapted for Steven Spielberg's movie.

The Beijing International Film Festival has unveiled the 15 titles that will screen in the Forward Future section of its 15th edition later this month.

Andor Season 2 looks great, but I'll never give it a 10 out of 10 unless my girl Jyn Erso makes an appearance.

That's right. Even after reading long discussions online regarding why a Jyn appearance breaks canon, I think she should be in Season 2. I don't think Lucasfilm is about to announce a Jyn Erso series that focuses on her life before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. As we're sure you'll remember, it was initially reported that Andor would be a five-season season. That seemed hugely ambitious for a tale about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's co-lead, especially when fans know how Cassian Andor's story ends.

The idea was for each season to be devoted to a year in the Rebel's life. However, Lucasfilm's approach suddenly seemed to change, and it was trimmed down to only two seasons. That decision was clearly made relatively late into production, as it came following the news that season one would explore a single year of Cassian's life.

Universal showcased new footage from the movie, which will probably be finding its way online very soon with the movie hitting cinemas this summer. Begins with an alarm going off in the lab, with someone getting stuck inside a chamber with one of the mutant dinosaurs (the red room we see in the marketing materials). “In the island we’re heading to, two dozen species have survived there alone.” A T-rex is walking into water, chasing a group of people on a dinghy. Lots of shots from scenes shown in the trailer. “Survival is a long shot,” says Jonathan Bailey’s character. As they’re trying to escape the island on a boat, the mososaurus finds them and attacks.

There’s a new entry in the Jurassic World franchise heading our way, with Jurassic World Rebirth set to reach theatres on July 2, 2025 – and, of course, the film was hyped up in a major way during the Universal panel at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas with director Gareth Edwards and stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali taking to the stage.

There’s a dramatic attempt to steal the eggs of a quetzalcoatlus that ends in a high-flying race to escape. Throw in a mosasaur attack that nearly capsizes the boat of a group of researchers and their armed guides. Add in some kind of mutated dinosaur that basically looks like a steroidal T-Rex. Oh, and for the less bloodthirsty viewers, there’s also the appearance of a cuddly baby triceratops. Only the creature starts freaking out because — you guessed it — a much more menacing primordial beast needs a snack...

The 15th edition of the Beijing International Film Festival has unveiled Chinese director Guan Hu (Black Dog, A Man and a Woman) as the head of its jury for the second annual AI-generated content (Aigc) section. The other jury members are The Lion King director Rob Minkoff, actress Tan Zhuo, technology and creative expert Wang Lei, and director Chen Jianying.

The second AI-centric program at Beijing comes at a time when AI and its pros and cons have been a hot-button issue in the film industry.

Action fans rejoice! The John Wick spin-off led by Chapter 4 star and martial arts icon Donnie Yen is finally happening, with the actor all set to return to both star and direct the project. The spin-off was announced at the ongoing CinemaCon event, with Yen making a comeback as Caine, the blind High Table assassin and old friend of Wick who stole the show back in 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4.

The Caine spin-off is something that both fans, and Donnie Yen, have wanted to see ever since the character made his debut. While some details are still being kept under wraps, the movie will pick up following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, which saw Caine freed from his obligations to the High Table and returning to Paris to reunite with his estranged daughter...before being approached by a vengeful Akira (Rina Sawayama).

Donnie Yen is returning to the world of “John Wick,” this time with some additional responsibilities.

The martial arts legend will star as Caine, the blind assassin from “John Wick: Chapter 4,” in a new spinoff film for Lionsgate. Yen will also direct the movie, which will begin production in Hong Kong later this year. The announcement was made as part of Lionsgate’s CinemaCon presentation.

Like all other installments in the ever-growing “John Wick” franchise, the Caine movie will be produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee through their Thunder Road banner and by series director Chad Stahelski, who produces through his 87Eleven Entertainment production company. Yen will also serve as an executive producer.

The movie’s logline is being kept under wraps, probably in a locked drawer at the Continental.

Mattson Tomlin has also joined the project to write the film; a previous draft was written by Robert Askins.

During Lionsgate’s official panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson took the stage to announce that Donnie Yen will direct the upcoming Caine spin-off film, which will begin production later this year in Hong Kong. Collider exclusively reported this now-confirmed news at the start of the year during an interview with Caine to promote his latest project, The Prosecutor. The studio has also announced that Mattson Tomlin (The Batman Part II) will pen the script for the currently untitled spin-off. Additional casting is being kept under wraps, as are plot details. Get ready for more “John Wick.”

Keanu Reeves is returning for “John Wick 5” as the nunchuck-wielding hitman, Lionsgate announced at CinemaCon on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, the action franchise is expanding with an animated prequel film as well as a Caine-centric standalone adventure from director-star Donnie Yen. These projects are complementary to the upcoming Ana de Armas-led “Ballerina,” which opens in theaters on June 6.

De Armas stopped by the annual convention for movie theater owners, which is currently unfolding in Las Vegas, to showcase an extended look at “Ballerina.” In the action-packed sequence, her character Eve Macarro, a ballerina who is training to become an assassin, kicks ass as she faces off against several adversaries in an abandoned bar — shooting one baddie in the face and smashing several plates against another adversary.

We are expecting a second teaser for Universal's Jurassic World Rebirth during CinemaCon, and a new poster for the latest instalment in the block-busting franchise has been spotted on the convention floor.

The artwork gives us another look at the movie's divisive "mutant" hybrid dinosaur attacking an unfortunate victim.

The first trailer unveiled this strange-looking beast, which protagonists discover upon arriving at the island's abandoned research facility, where dinos that were "too dangerous for the Park" were bred.

When Andor first hit Disney+, it didn’t take long for people to realize they were witnessing something special. As reported by Games Radar, the actor revealed some interesting things about Season 2 of Andor, which is apparently going to have some plot elements that are going to change how people view Rogue One, which saw Cassian Andor meet his end after succeeding in his mission to send out the plans of the Death Star.

Chinese actor-director Jiang Wen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Let the Bullets Fly) will serve as the head of the main competition jury at the 15th Beijing International Film Festival, which will hand out its Tiantan Award.

The jury will also include Chinese American director and actor Joan Chen (The Last Emperor), British director David Yates (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Chinese actor Ni Ni, Finnish director Teemu Nikki, Swiss director and actor Vincent Perez, and art director Tim Yip from Hong Kong. The panel will select the winners across 10 award categories, including best feature film, best director and best screenplay.

The festival also unveiled its 15 main competition films, with organizers saying they received a record 1,794 feature film submissions from 103 countries and regions, marking a 19 percent increase over last year.

Following the titular character’s dynamic first season joining the Rebellion, Season 2 will follow a different format. Each week will have three episodes, basically a mini-movie covering the events over a few days. Then, the next arc will jump forward a year, leading into the hours before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Andor follows thief Cassian Andor as he and his home of Ferrix fall under Imperial rule. Between the obsessed Syril Karn hunting him and the up-and-coming Isb agent Dedra Meero seeking to quell the growing rebellious feelings on Ferrix, Cassian finds himself on a path to joining the morally grey good guys, led by the mysterious Luthen Rael. Also under Imperial watch is Senator Mon Mothma, trying to keep her family safe while running the Rebellion from behind the scenes with Luthen.

"The Electric State" has generated nothing but trouble for Netflix.

The streamer spent a whopping $320 million on the film –- which boasts the expensive but wasted talents of Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Stanley Tucci, and the blockbuster titans Joe and Anthony Russo –- only for it to debut as an almost immediate viewership flop on Netflix. This was no doubt due to the poor reviews it received upon release (sharing little in common with its lauded source material), as even the platform's own subscribers had already seemingly passed on it in favor of a little-known natural disaster documentary.

But if tornadoes aren't your thing -– and you're not looking to get involved with an overlooked sci-fi series like "Tales from the Loop" –- we've found loads of films currently available to stream or rent online that offer more compelling stories, more impressive visuals, and more human performances than "The Electric State" has to offer.

With it only being a few weeks away from Andor Season 2, promotional materials are ramping up, including a new trailer that set a more dire tone for the series. One fan theorized about what could be by far one of the darkest moments onscreen for a Star Wars show.

In his trailer breakdown, Alex Damon from Star Wars Explained speculated on a possible Season 2 plot point: Maybe Cassian Andor himself started the Ghorman Massacre. And I think Alex might be onto something.

At the 6:09 mark, Alex describes the exchange between Luthen Rael and Cassian, where they are discussing a mission. Cassian worries about it failing, whereas Luthen explains that this mission will burn very bright. Alex theorizes that Luthen is the kind of purpose who would set off a powder keg and sacrifice a group of people in exchange to help radicalize more people to the cause of the Rebellion.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a 2016 film and the first spin-off in the Star Wars franchise. Unlike previous films, it moves away from the episodic structure and adopts a war-movie-style narrative with a darker and more grounded tone. The film connects the prequel trilogy with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and the original trilogy while introducing new characters whose sacrifices significantly impact the galaxy’s future.

Exclusive: Emmy winners John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits are set to reprise their roles of Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer and Miguel Prado, respectively, in the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection. The show has been in production in New York since January.
