I have lived in LA at different stages of my life. I was there for Duran Duran and 'hardbodies' as we lived in Reagen's utopia of debt and low taxes.

I lived in Skid Row as a homeless white guy in my 30's unable to pay escalating rents, school loans and not having parents born/homeowners there. This was in the 2000's when the Downtown economically evicted the cleaners for quarter million lofts.

LA is a political utopia for those that wish to participate. It's always changing as each and every neighborhood evicts the poorest and welcomes new tax payers. Just like the State as a whole.

I will always cherish my time there, as I put in effort at positive change. I invested in politics till I was economically evicted to Nevada like a million others.

If you want a chance at the American Dream, California is the best place to try. Haters never move there, but they are born there.

I often see LA in the media I consume and quickly try to remember if I have been to that block.

But there’s more. Watching an evening shot of the PCH brought a tear to my eye recently.

There is something I feel inside, in my chest, I can’t find the word. I do have a two word description though; the sense of pride and relief. This self, that we are, was partly built in our Los Angeles.

We are have a transformational relationship that lasts from coast to coast. We are so different as to be recognized in Ubers.

I loved my time in LA and am so greatfull. I wonder what the word is that describes this wellbeing.
