I am having such a hard time keeping my strong dislike of this woman separate from my opinon about the documentary itself.
The filmmakers do, definitely, make an effort to present this topic in an unbiased way, but I'd posit they fail as Sarma is given way too much space and time on the camera and doesn't seem to be challenged or questioned in any meaningful way. It's more like a little friendly chat rather than any questioning.
A few other reviewers here compare the documentary to Tinder Swindler. You can't make a worse comparison. Sarma was not swindled, she knew what she was doing and all the bolony she came up with to maker herself look like the victim is ridiculous to say the least. My opinion is that she tried to swindle and instead got swindled herself.
Please, Netflix, can you make more meaningful documentaries on more worthy subjects? Pretty please? Rich, white, privileged pretty faces have been given enough exposure already...
This topic is good for one podcast episode, not Netflix series... do better.

From acting, scenery to music score...
... this movie and adaptation of beloved Jane Austen's novel is absolutely gorgeous.
I particularly enjoy the adaptations - the changes where the movie slightly departs from the novel - as it is done perfectly and with a true understanding and feeling of/for the text of the novel (yes, I read the book).
The two main characters have the most amazing chemistry and both the bright blue eyes of the actor playing Mr Darcy with the dark emotional depth of Elizabeth Bennett's eyes... mirror the contrast of the two characters ... they are amazingly paired. I can't really find anything to critique about the acting perhaps for 'Kitty' to be less affected as it gets annoying at some point, but the character is true to its description in the book and the character is supposed to be annoying, so well done to the actor and the movie makers. Although, I wish to have seen more of Mr. Sutherland ...
Now the scenery; oh my wore, it's absolutely breath taking!
And last but not least is the music. It's perfectly paired to the scenes and conveys the feeling in the most ingenious way. It makes one want to learn to play a piano.
This movie is a joy to behold.

Amazing esthetics, light, colors, direction and acting.
What more is there to say?
You have your underdog that beats all the odds! Is there anything better than that premise? Nope!
I enjoyed it beginning to end.
I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Finally a documentary where victims get the central voice and attention!
One of the best true crime documentaries I've ever watched!

I thought I'd just laugh this off...
Nope, I'm in awe of the information presented and need to know more.
Is this true? No idea, but I wouldn't put this past the money and power hungry sociopaths running the show in most of the world for this to be 100% true...
Watch it and make up your own mind.
I'm definitely inspired to ask more questions...

I have to say I adored the show!
I'm a 30 something year old woman and started watching the show just to escape the challenging reality we're all in now (yes, I'm talking about you, Covid) and I got an amazing, fun, funny and refreshing surprise!
This show made me giddy, happy, emotional ... and made want more!
I'd totally recommend this to anyone that wants to laugh, get reminded of the excitement of teenage years and even reflect about certain aspects of life...
This show is not just pointless empty fun!

I really enjoyed this show and I loved the fact the show is from South Africa and almost all the actors are people of color (not sure if this is ok to say in regards to a South African show, but I simply don't know better).
I liked seeing some aspects of the South African culture/realities even though I have no idea whether the representation was correct.
I really like the actors and in my view casting did a great job.
It's an exciting premise and the show is well made! I can't wait for the next season!
I found some amazing musing through this show - great soundtrack!

So, it's not a unbiased 'conspiracy' anymore that the rich/powerful are going around doing whatever they want to whomever pretty much without consequence or that the "justice" system in the USA is a filthy joke.
This documentary made me sick to my stomach because it just revealed certain parts of our reality I wish didn't exist.
I commend all the brave victims that spoke up. I admire you, ladies and I hope and pray all the other filthy monsters get exposed and punished. But considering how the "justice" system in America (does not) works, I'm very doubtful.
Also, Dershowitz, Maxwell, Clinton, Trump and that 'prince' et al. need to be investigated in depth. But as long as we let the rich do whatever they want and let the system that gives them the upper hand prevail... we are not getting any justice, ever. Not real justice.

That was my first thought after binding this series: cops need to watch this and learn how to and how not to interview a victim. They dropped the ball big time with Marie, but seeing the other detectives interviewing victims with love, empathy, etc. made it even more obvious and poignant.
This show was emotionally harsh to watch, but also extremely giving, especially about the way the system works (in the US at least) ... I would suggest it to everyone.

I entirely enjoyed this show. It's partly a fairytale - a fable. It's innocent, yet wise, it's unrealistic as well as seated deeply in reality. It's sad and shocking and happy and silly and it's full of life.
It's part a fairytale, part reality that is somehow seamlessly joined and combined into incredible story full of feelings, passion, magic, and harsh reality.
The actors are absolutely amazing. The casting was superb! All the actresses and actors fill the shoes of the characters perfectly
The cinematography is lovely and location of the story is just gorgeous.
I can only can only speak in superlatives about this show and I would recommend (most) people to watch this. I would say this show is rather niche and won't appeal to everyone ...

This show is worth your time. It's fun, funny, witty and dark and it has really strong two female main characters. I can't wait for season 2.
I absolutely adore the aesthetics of this movie! The design of the castle and the costumes are just gorgeous! Besides that, all the political jokes hidden or not-so-well-hidden in a lot of the dialog. Not to mention the music and the gorgeous singing of the main protagonist! It's ten out of ten for me as I have a very strong relationship to this movie - it's a childhood classic for me and I enjoy it and love it to this day. I would recommend anyone and everyone to watch it. It's a gem.
Upon reading all of these negative reviews, I decided I had to set the record straight when it comes to the movie.
It's good. It's definitely worth seeing.
And here's why:
I loved the images captured with the camera - great framing, great color - it all set up an atmosphere that was palpable - if you let yourself perceive it. Not to mention the sound, which was a great part of the experience - the movie.
And the acting! Mia Wasikowska is superb in this. The mixture of innocence and sexiness was delivered by her in a very inoffensive way ... a different sort of 'coming of age'.
I'd summarise the movie this way: disturbing, sexually charged, dark and thought-provoking.
Loss of innocence portrayed in a very different way.
