How do you live when Vladimir Putin wants you dead?
That’s the dilemma facing Christo Grozev, a man often described as a “rock star investigative journalist.” The story of how he became persona non grata — песона нон грата, if you prefer – with the Kremlin is told in the documentary Antidote, directed by James Jones, which just made its world premiere at Cph:Dox in Copenhagen.
“Someone asked me the other day, how many people are on Putin’s kill list? And I was like, ‘I have no idea,’” Jones says as he and Grozev join Deadline at a café at the Cph:dox hub. “But it is interesting that if you end up on their criminal wanted list… that’s a pretty good sign you’ve crossed some kind of line.”

Investigative journalist Christo Grozev, a key contributor to Oscar-winning documentary “Navalny” and central protagonist of “Antidote,” is one of Vladimir Putin’s most wanted men for having exposed his assassination operations against opponents such as the late Alexei Navalny. At Copenhagen’s Cph:dox documentary festival on Tuesday, he spoke about the dangers he is facing.
Grozev was part of a panel at the festival that looked at the guts and sacrifice that have to be made to expose truth through filmmaking and news reporting. He was joined on stage by the director of “Antidote,” Emmy-winning British filmmaker James Jones (“Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes”).
With “Antidote,” which won best editing at the last Tribeca Film Festival and screens at Cph:dox in an updated version, Jones told the audience that his initial idea was to investigate Putin’s poison program with the open source investigation platform Bellingcat with which Grozev was collaborating.

Christo Grozev, forced to flee Austria for his journalistic investigation of secret Russian operations, is the central focus of a dynamic and powerful story
Finally getting a release after the verdict in the Bulgarian spy-ring trial, James Jones’s gripping documentary takes open-source journalism website Bellingcat’s former lead investigator Christo Grozev as its main focus. But Grozev is just one of the many in Putin’s crosshairs, so the film opens out to cover several whistleblowers, dissidents and activists. Hopping between location-stamped world cities like a Hollywood thriller, the film has a Michael Mann-like dynamism and pathos in detailing the emotional cost of this defiance.
After identifying hitmen and helping a whistleblower from Russia’s chemical weapons programme to flee to Europe, Grozev finds himself on a kill-list. Warned of an imminent threat, he is unable to return home to Vienna; exiled in New York, he impotently frets about his family’s safety.

A historian explains how The Thin Red Line accurately portrays the U.S. Army's role during one key World War II battle. Released in 1998, The Thin Red Line is directed by Terrence Malick and based on the 1962 novel of the same name by author James Jones. The World War II film, which stars Sean Penn, Jim Caviezel, Nick Nolte, Adrien Brody, and George Clooney, chronicles the struggles of select soldiers during the bloody Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands and earned a total of seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
In a recent video for Insider, historian John McManus analyzes select scenes from The Thin Red Line, finding that the film gets a lot right with its depiction of the Battle of Guadalcanal. Playing as a favorite team in NBA 2K25 may require more nuance than players may have originally planned. The game is missing multiple fan favorites, such as Blake Griffin, John Wall, and Andre Iguodala, among several others. This absence led to backlash and questioning why these players were no longer an option for the game, but the answer is relatively straightforward.
NBA 2Ks removal of specific players is a practical move, not a personal one. These players are missing because the company simply lost the rights to use their likenesses in the game. These absent players have retired from the NBA, and so the rules have changed regarding using their images.

The most interesting part of the show is that it explores each cast member's personal experience with autism, which offers a broader view of it.
The cast of Love On The Spectrum seasons 1 and 2 included ten 20-something singles who are somewhere on the autism spectrum. Dating is difficult for everybody, but looking for love presents unique challenges to those who are neurodiverse. Throughout the season, these singles...

Serving the entertainment industry for more than two decades is a big deal, and Christopher Nolan has been doing it flawlessly. But there are several filmmakers, who played a major role in Nolan’s success. One such inspiration is Terrence Malick, who has unknowingly influenced Nolan’s works to such an extent, that today the Tenet director has turned into one of the most celebrated filmmakers.
Christopher Nolan on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Although the visionary director, Terrence Malick has been overlooked by the Academy Awards for years, his works have reached out to people and fans like Christopher Nolan. Hailed for his truly epic, and humanitarian films like Badlands, The Thin Red Line, and The Tree of Life, Malick’s works have transcended boundaries.

The fundamental thing about documentary filmmaking is telling a story in a manner that is exciting enough to grab the attention of the audience. Otherwise, why would you watch something about which you can find basically everything on the internet itself? Apple TV’s latest documentary series about former Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn, titled Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn, follows this fundamental thing to a tee. As a result, watching the four-episode docuseries feels like watching a big-budget Hollywood thriller. The story itself is something that any filmmaker would grab to make cinema out of it. Someone like Michael Mann or Ben Affleck would do proper justice to it, for sure.
The documentary series is helmed by James Jones, who also happens to be a big deal. The BAFTA-winning documentary filmmaker has done many great works in the past that have covered grave international matters like the...

World War II has served as inspiration for some of the greatest movies ever made. The intense and gruesome war lasted from 1939 to 1945, with all the world's major powers playing a role. The war spilled onto almost every continent, with battles ranging from North Africa to East Asia. Many nations, even outside the United States, have their own mythologies around the war that influence their war movies.
The Second World War has inspired a range of films virtually every decade since the war ended. Many acting careers have peaked in WWII films, which are naturally full of emotion and pain – requiring great tonal range. The war has also been responsible for some of the biggest productions in cinema to capture its enormous scale.

Fred Zinnemann’s sturdy adaptation of James Jones’s army melodrama remains an underrated slice of homoerotic, bittersweet war-is-hell film-making
Seventy years ago, in the midst of mass critical adulation and storming box office for From Here to Eternity, the Guardian published one of the film’s few tepid reviews. “No doubt no army in a free country was at its best in pre-war years,” wrote the paper’s unnamed film critic, “but surely no unit of the American Army was quite so corrupt as this account would have us believe.” The acting and directing were “first-class”, the critic acknowledged; the film itself “[defied] credibility”.
Viewed in 2023, Fred Zinnemann’s big, muscular melodrama of Hawaiian barracks life in the months leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor has inevitably dated a bit – though perhaps not as much as the Guardian’s concern that it did the US army a bit dirty.

BAFTA gave out their Craft Awards on Sunday, 23 April. As with the Primetime Emmys, the British academy also devotes a weekend to celebrating the creative arts. The BAFTA TV Craft Awards are split into 20 categories, with six devoted to fictional programming, six to factual programming, and a further four in combined fields.
The BBC medical drama “This is Going to Hurt” won three awards — Editing (Fiction), Scripted Casting, and Writer (Drama) for show creator Adam Kay. Kay adapted his best-selling memoir, which chronciled his experiences as a doctor in the NHS. Kay won in a stacked category that included Pete Jackson (“Somewhere Boy”), Alice Oseman (“Heartstopper) and Tony Schumacher (“The Responder”). “This is Going to Hurt” will contend at the Emmys in the limited series categories.
Meanwhile, Writer (Comedy) went to Lisa McGee for her work on “Derry Girls,” which follows a teenage girl and family in friends in 1990s Northern Ireland.

On Survivor 43, the jury was critical of Cassidy Clark's gameplay, and fans are not happy about it. After 26 days of manipulating and backstabbing, Cassidy made the final three with Mike Gabler and Owen Knight, where she received a single vote from James Jones. Instead of rewarding Cassidy's ability to always be on the right side of the vote and control her own destiny through individual immunity wins, the jury chose Gabler as the winner. They cited his hiding in plain sight strategy as well as his likable social gameplay as the reasons for the win.
Cassidy won the final immunity challenge, which allowed her to proceed directly to the final three and then select two people to go head-to-head in Survivor's fire-making challenge to make it into the final three with her and Owen. During the jury questioning, Karla Cruz Godoy interrogated Cassidy over her decision to put Gabler...

Find out where to watch From Here to Eternity, the Oscar-winning romance and war film set months before the Pearl Harbor attack, starring Burt Lancaster and Montgomery Clift.
Based on a heralded novel by acclaimed author James Jones, From Here to Eternity is often grouped with other World War II films. The year 2022 has provided Survivor fans with a plethora of shocking tribal councils on the show. Survivor seasons 42 and 43 produced unexpected blindsides. However, a tribal council's shock value does solely rely on its conclusion, because pre-vote and post-vote debates are equally influential.
On Survivor, the batch of "new era" advantages, collective paranoia, and loss of voting privileges contributed to this year's top tribal councils. In addition, there were hints of "old-school" Survivor shock value. These included stunning betrayals, deadlocked votes, and iconic reactions from the jury. Here are some of the most shocking Survivor tribal council blindsides in 2022.

In Survivor 42, Lydia Meredith was voted off at the merge vote, right before the jury phase. In an interview with EW, the 22-year-old actress said she was "totally" blindsided.

Looking back on Survivor 43, Jeff Probst believes fear influenced the contestants' decisions during the season. Survivor season 43 was surprising for viewers and many of the contestants. Week after week, players went home after being blindsided during tribal council. The result of this game style was a relatively quiet Survivor season with a minimal amount of conflict between players.
On Survivor 43, it was rare to see an elimination where a player anticipated they were the target. One of the few players who knew they were going home was Sami Layadi, who played multiple sides in the game. Knowing he could be going home incentivized Sami to play his shot in the dark, but unluckily he did not gain immunity. Still, most other eliminations in Survivor season 43 ended with voted-out players surprised by the result.

Spoiler alert: This article spoils major details of Survivor 43, including the identity of the winner. Survivor 43 is in the books, and Mike Gabler is the latest winner in the series' storied history. When he revealed his tactics during the final tribal council, the other players and fans looked at his game from a new perspective. His strategy earned him the respect of the jury and earned him the win.
To be successful at Survivor, one must have a strategy of some kind, and long gone are the days of castaways winging it or even, in the early seasons, outright refusing to form alliances and voting blocs. Performing well physically and socially is crucial too, but in Survivor 43, certain castaways focused mostly on strategy.

Spoiler alert: This article spoils major details of Survivor 43, including the identity of the winner. Survivor 43 is over, and Mike Gabler outlasted everyone else and took home the title of Sole Survivor. He played an impressive game over the course of 26 days on the island, but the whole cast deserves a lot of credit for the game they played this season.
Each castaway had their own strength in the competition. There were some strong strategic players and smooth social players. There were few dominant physical players, however. Here is how the cast's individual wins stack up against each other from the tribe merger to the final tribal council.
Dwight Moore - 0 Wins
Dwight lasted long enough to be there when the tribes merged, but he missed the jury as he came in 12th place in the season. His vote off was crucial, however, since everyone thought he went home with Jeanine's idol.

Cassidy Clark was able to successfully make it to the final tribal council during Survivor season 43 but was shocked to find out she lost to Mike Gabler. Cassidy flew under the radar on Survivor but always knew what was going to happen when it came down to the votes. Her impressive challenge ability helped her make it to the end, as she won three individual immunities at crucial moments in the game. Unfortunately for Cassidy, the jury was more impressed by Gabler's game, and she ended up with only one vote to win.
While Gabler had some strategic moments throughout Survivor 43, Cassidy was in the majority from the beginning and was able to dodge the target on her back multiple times. In an interview with EW, Cassidy echoed the thoughts of many fans, saying, "I was pretty shocked as well." She claimed that third-place finisher Owen Knight was in agreement,...

Owen Knight, the third place finisher of Survivor 43, was just as shocked by the final outcome as the fans when Cassidy Clark lost. He made it to the final three with runner-up, Cassidy, and the winner of the season, Mike Gabler. While Owen was left out of the votes for a majority of the season, he was able to make his way to the end due to his impressive challenge abilities and his underdog spirit. Even though Owen may not have expected to win the season, he was not expecting Gabler to beat out Cassidy by such a large margin.
Owen was the rooting interest of a lot of fans, but even Owen did not expect to win the whole show. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Owen claimed, "I really thought Cassidy had it in the bag going in." Owen recognized why Gabler won, saying, "He's so interesting... And he's so likable.
