About six years ago, Scream Factory gave the 1986 classic Night of the Creeps a Blu-ray release – and along with the Blu-ray, they released an exclusive, limited edition 8” tall Neca action figure of the film’s star, Tom Atkins! Now, Scream Factory is set to bring Night of the Creeps to 4K Uhd on March 25th – and the Collector’s Edition bundle includes a new Tom Atkins action figure! You can check out an image of the new action figure at the bottom of this article, and you can pre-order the bundle at This Link. There was a bundle that included both of the Neca figures, but it has already sold out.
Written and directed by Fred Dekker, Night of the Creeps has the following synopsis: Thrill me! When an alien experiment goes awry, it crashes to Earth in 1959 and infects a young college student. Twenty-seven years later, his cryogenically frozen...

Several iconic horror movies from earlier decades just don’t hold up to today’s standards, which often makes them get overlooked by modern audiences. At the time of their release, they might have been groundbreaking, but with their limited technology and simpler storytelling, a lot of them can easily feel outdated nowadays. Additionally, older horror films often relied on implied scares and slow build-ups, which is why they don't really hold the attention of today’s viewers.
Modern audiences want a faster pace, more exciting horrors, and complex characters. Plus, certain themes from old-school movies just don’t click with the way we see the world now. That’s where new adaptations come in. From Re-Animator to Cannibal Holocaust, there are quite a few iconic horror movies that deserve a modern reboot. If done right, these titles could get a fresh spin while honoring the originals' legacy, giving them...

Fred Dekker, the writer and director of the 1986 horror film Night of the Creeps, is planning a sequel that will bring back the original cast! That cast of the original film includes Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, Allan Kayser, and Tom Atkins.
The news about Night of the Creeps 2 came from Tom Atkins during an interview with JoBlo. He said:
“I would like to see Detective Ray Cameron become resurrected somehow. And Fred Dekker and I, every time we see each other, we talk about that. And he's determined to do a sequel with the three kids and myself. I mean they're no longer kids, they're all in their 50's, but they're all still kicking and healthy and looking good. I would love to do that again. I love Detective Ray Cameron.”
It would be pretty cool if this film project actually ended up happening. I love the idea...

Stars: Jason Lively, Tom Atkins, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, Wally Taylor, Allan Kayser, Ken Heron, Alice Cadogan | Written and Directed by Fred Dekker
Fred Dekker, writer and director of this fun-loving and enjoyably-daft B-movie homage, had a strangely short career as a director. Oddly though, he is responsible for two films that I, and many others, really love. Night of the Creeps being one of them, and the other one being a Halloween-staple for me, 1987’s The Monster Squad. Dekker wrote the script in just a week for this film, and it is a good script that in many ways feels ahead of its time. It’s quite unusual how little credit Dekker has received for his work (his only other feature film is Robocop 3) because two of his films are cult favourites, and truly entertaining slices of horror fun. A definite inspiration to many similar films that would follow through the years,...

It’s hard to believe that yet another Flashback Weekend is upon us once again, with the longest-running horror convention in Chicago set to take over the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare from Friday, August 2nd through Sunday, August 4th. This year's festivities look to be a stellar time for genre fans, with a cavalcade of notable guests descending upon the three-day event. If you happened to miss our previous coverage of the various talent announcements for Flashback (you can check them out Here), for this year’s convention, Bruce Campbell is returning to Chicago and will be reuniting with both Sam and Ted Raimi to celebrate all things Evil Dead.

Night Of The Creeps screens Midnights this weekend (March 9th and 10th) at The Moolah Theater and Lounge (3821 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, Mo 63108) as part of Destroy the Brain’s monthly Late Nite Grindhouse film series.
Writer/director Fred Dekker’s Night Of The Creeps is all about little, parasitic aliens that take over human bodies and turn them into deadly zombies. This is a big pain in the backside for Chris Romero (Jason Lively), who is finally getting a chance to woo Cynthia (Jill Whitlow), a girl he has fallen in love with. With gruff Detective Cameron (Tom Atkins) trying to figure out what’s going on as bodies start to, apparently, wander off on their own it’s not long until the living have to band together to keep the living dead at bay.

In the fourth season of the somewhat tumultuous sitcom Mama’s Family (a spinoff from one of the successful recurring sketches on The Carol Burnett Show), Mama Harper (Vicki Lawrence) and her makeshift family endure more comedic ups and downs. At home in the Harper household are Vinton Harper (Ken Berry), Mama’s youngest son who’s too buffoonish to move out of the house; his wife Naomi (Dorothy Lyman), a flirtatious bimbo; and Bubba Higgins (Allan Kayser), Mama’s grandson (through Eunice and Ed Higgins—portrayed by Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman on The Carol Burnett Show and the first iteration of Mama’s Family).

Here at AfterElton.com, people aren't shy about naming their TV crushes, whether it's a sometimes-brooding, sometimes-happy-go-lucky roguish time traveler, a gruff, strong-willed police officer or a cable TV decorator stud. But there had to be someone who started it all for each of us. The one who first made our young selves one day notice that there was more to these TV shows than just the spaceships, cartoons, and things blowing up. Someone who made our pulse race and previously non-tingly parts go all tingly.
That was the hot topic of conversations at the AfterElton break room this week: Who was your first TV crush?
The responses we got varied quite a bit. Some people remembered the teen idols of their youth, some people remembered a character who didn't make the wardrobe department work very hard, while others remembered someone who ... surprised us.
But we don't want to just hear from Ae writers.

I had the pleasure of meeting director Patrick Rea this summer at Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, Kentucky this summer. You meet so many people at these kind of events and at each stop not everyone leaves a lasting impression on you. And then there is Patrick Rea, the guy can make a film, from his writing style to the lighting all the way to his direction of setting the mood for the film. I'm so impressed with Mr. Rea's work I'll be spreading the good word on his projects for now on. I also dare to compare his work with a Spielberg, Lucas, Cameron or even a Craven. Being the indie supporter that I am Rea's work comes across not so much as indie work but has the look of a full blown studio effort, the films are really that impressive! Indie filmmaker Patrick Rea contacted Dread Central recently to let us know about Dark Matter, a new concept in monthly DVD clubs that focuses on a mixture of suspense, science fiction, and fantasy stories, often concluding with a thought-provoking, chilling, or unexpected turn of events.
Here's how it works according to the Dark Matter website:
Essentially, Dark Matter is a Twilight Zone-like anthology series delivered monthly to subscribers on DVD via mail. Don't be fooled by the name, it's not about darkness -- it's about the stories that have been hidden from our sight and the amazing possibilities they contain.
For $19.95 a month (plus shipping and handling), you receive a new DVD every month with 4-5 movies that have been hand-selected for people who appreciate compelling stories. The DVDs you receive from Dark Matter are yours to keep forever. You never have to return anything, and you may cancel any time.

I remember seeing Night Of The Creeps when it was released in 1986. I hadn’t seen the trailer and didn’t know anything about the movie, but a friend invited me at the last minute, and, hey, being 11 at the time, any chance to see an R-rated horror movie was an opportunity I would never pass up. While first-time writer-director Fred Dekker’s Sf-horror pastiche bombed at the box office and quickly left theaters, I Loved the film. I watched it a few times afterward when it showed up on cable, but I haven’t seen Night Of The Creeps in nearly 20 years. So when I heard that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment was releasing a Director’s Cut of the film on DVD ($19.95; also Blu-ray $24.95), I couldn’t wait to revisit it, but I was trepidatious about how it has aged over the years. Well, Night Of The Creeps is...

See new clips from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's "Night of the Creeps" starring Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Witlow, Tom Atkins, Wally Taylor, Bruce Solomon, Vic Polizos and Allan Kayser. The comedy horror sees release on October 27th. In this campy chiller, a college couple, in 1959, see an object plummet to Earth like a meteor. The boy accidentally swallows a space-slug that shoots out. In 1986, two freshmen roam the campus and stumble across the corpse of the boy who swallowed the space-slug. Once thawed out, the corpse comes to life. Interestingly enough,multi-talented David Paymer had a part in this film as a young scientist.
