- Originally cast as Tom Pierce in Tarzan and His Mate, he was replaced during production by William Stack.
- Appeared in four Oscar Best Picture nominees: Grand Hotel (1932), The House of Rothschild (1934), Captain Blood (1935) and Captains Courageous (1937), with only the first of these winning.
