"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" looks set to rise from the grave, with Sarah Michelle Gellar reportedly set to return as her iconic character. This is great news for everyone who grew up watching the original series in the late '90s and early 2000s, but the revival probably won't arrive for a while yet, and that means having to wait impatiently. Still, what if we told you that there's an awesome show that's similar to "Buffy" and flew under the radar at the time of its release? That show exists and it's called "Reaper," and it deserves to be exhumed so it can finally gain the appreciation it deserves.
Created by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters -- who Marvel fans will know for their work on "Agent Carter -- The CW's "Reaper" began life as a spec script for an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." However, after being inspired...

Netflix has shared disappointing news for fans of the Voltron franchise. The streaming service's critically acclaimed Voltron: Legendary Defender reboot will be removed from the platform next week.
DreamWorks and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender premiered in 2016 and released 78 episodes over 8 seasons. The final season of the animated series aired on Netflix in December 2018. Earlier this year, it was reported that the Voltron reboot series would be departing from Netflix, with the official Voltron Instagram account responding and saying, "Discussions are ongoing. When we know, you'll know." It appears as if negotiations to keep the show on Netflix fell through, and it remains uncertain where (or even if) fans will have a way to legally stream the series in the future. Voltron: Legendary Defender will be removed from Netflix on Dec. 6.

Dr. Iggy Frome on New Amsterdam is a key medical expert with complex relationships and struggles. Max Goodwin navigates bureaucracy in an old hospital, surrounded by department heads with expertise. Actor Tyler Labine brings warmth to Iggy, known for roles in both TV and film throughout his career.
Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) on New Amsterdam is one of the key medical experts on the NBC medical drama, and sharp-eyed fans will recognize the actor from some of his other works. On a show like New Amsterdam, the doctors, nurses, and staff of the hospital are more critical to the success of the show than the conceit of the series or how shocking the story of the week is. It's about how fleshed out the characters are and the relationships between them that determines if a standard medical procedural will rise above the crowded pack of similar shows.

Max Goodwin's return is crucial for the success of the New Amsterdam spinoff. The spinoff will focus on Max's daughter Luna taking over as Medical Director at the hospital. Even as a supporting character, Max's presence is vital to shaping Luna's story in the sequel.
New Amsterdam ended a year and a half ago, but NBC is already cooking up a spinoff (which will only be successful if one original cast member returns). The NBC medical drama television show, created by David Schulner, was based on Eric Manheimer's 2012 book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital. It follows the doctors at New Amsterdam Hospital, a fictional hospital inspired by Bellevue Hospital in New York City, New York, with Dr. Max Goodwin, played by Ryan Eggold in the New Amsterdam cast, as the show's main character.
New Amsterdam is available to stream on Netflix or Peacock.

Quick Links Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil 2 Had Some Interesting False Starts Why Tucker & Dale vs. Evil Needs a Sequel Tucker and Dale vs. Evil gained a cult following, despite flopping in cinemas. While many fans hoped for a sequel, plans did not move forward because the script was deemed not good enough. The original movie provided social commentary and satire, and a sequel could further explore its themes in a subversive way, but it's probable fans won't ever see it.
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is just one of those horror movies that, like so many others, didn't receive much attention upon its initial theatrical release. However, one thing the dark horror comedy does have going for it is momentum. Ever since flopping in cinemas despite stellar reviews, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil slowly gained cult status and a strong fanbase. This was arguably due to how well the movie...

There have been many horror movie spoofs, but only a few age well or stay relevant, which is a circumstance of time. Jokes become outdated, inappropriate or incomprehensible and particular thrills fade. As a result, such films have a different impact than they did during their initial release, and current audiences may engage with them less. Still, certain movies hold up, especially when they employ satire to subvert and dissect issues pertinent to contemporary society, which is arguably the case with Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.
As far as dark comedy horror films go, the movie has aged beautifully. The film turned the common "crazed hillbilly" trope seen in such films as Deliverance, Wrong Turn and Texas Chainsaw Massacre on its head in a humorous and heartfelt way. However, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil debatably resonates with fans because it exploits the irony embedded in its title. After all, an...

Alfred Hitchcock almost blew it. For most of Psycho’s runtime, the master of suspense lived up to his name, turning Robert Bloch’s pulpy novel into a thrilling mystery with shocking twists. But then, after the revelation of Norman Bates emulating his mother, now a rotting corpse, the movie stops for a psychiatrist to lecture the audience on Freudian theory. Were it not for the chilling closing voiceover by Virginia Gregg as Norma Bates, and Anthony Perkins’ proto-Kubrickian stare at the camera, Psycho may have gone out with a whisper.
As ill-advised as the lecture scene surely is, it did help establish a key element of the slasher genre that followed. Slashers aren’t just about serial killers who pick off victims one by one. They also need to have deeply weird storylines, dealing not only with the killer’s personal hang ups, but also...

When New Amsterdam checks out after five seasons on January 17, expect the heartfelt hospital drama to go gentle into that good night. “The finale has [only] one medical story,” says showrunner David Schulner, because the majority of the two hours are driven by the characters’ personal stories: “Everyone is looking to heal — to repair the core trauma that started their journeys in the pilot episode.” That means surgeon Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) comes to terms with the idea of what it means to be a perfect family. ER doc Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) deals with the trauma of leaving her sister behind with their alcoholic mother. And psychiatrist Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) is owning the feeling that he’s not worthy of the marriage he’s in. Ralph Bavaro/NBC Medical director Max Goodwin, meanwhile, must define his future with his ex-fiancée, doc Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman). According to Schulner, the...

Ah, January. A fresh year, a chance to start again, with resolutions restored and hope renewed everywhere! Well, almost everywhere. If you go to the theater, you’ll likely find holdovers and awards favorites released in the final months of the previous year; the respectable stuff that does well around Oscar season. But the new offerings tend to be pretty dire. That’s when studios release dreck like the re-Heated Pacino/De Niro team-up Righteous Kill or dorm room staple The Boondock Saints.
