Thomas J. La Sorsa

Edit

Biography

    • Filmmaker and lifelong Brooklyn native Tommy J. La Sorsa is no stranger to indy-film audiences. His first venture, the cult-classic-indy, All Saints Day (2001), put him on the proverbial map with loyal hardcore cinephiles. After winning the award for Best Comedy at both the Long Island and Brooklyn Film Festivals, All Saints Day was distributed by Winstar TV & Genius Entertainment (a subsidiary of Miramax Films). Following its theatrical release in May of 2001, All Saints Day was released worldwide on DVD and cable.

In 2011, after a 10 year hiatus directing broadcast commercials, La Sorsa returned with his 2nd motion picture, Circus Maximus. It features an all-star-indy cast that includes: Actor/Comedian Mario Cantone; indy-film icon, Kevin Corrigan; "Soprano's" star, Joe Gannascoli; Howard Stern Show co-host Sal "the stockbroker" Governale & Comedy Central's comic sensation, Julian McCullough.

On the festival circuit, Circus Maximus enjoyed top billing as the opening night film at NYC's prestigious CMJ Film Festival. In addition, Circus Maximus had the honor of being the closing night film at NYC's BAFF. Furthermore, prior to its release date, Circus Maximus was invited to take part in an exclusive encore festival presentation at Vision-Fest. Distributed by Osiris Entertainment, Circus Maximus was released theatrically in September of 2011 and is available worldwide on DVD, Blu-Ray and cable.

Due to the success and cult following of All Saints Day and Circus Maximus, Tommy has been frequently invited to lecture at Colleges and Universities across the NYC area, including: NYU, Columbia University, Brooklyn College & The School of Visual Arts.

In the interim, La Sorsa produces and directs commercials for Speak Media Advertising, a boutique ad agency with a niche focus on creating multimedia content for broadcast television. Clients include: Honda, Skinworks, Metropolitan College of NY, Sierra Jeans, The Fur Source of NY and countless others.
