Acorn TV just released the first four photos from the upcoming detective drama, Art Detectives. The first-look photos feature series star and executive producer Stephen Moyer in his role as Di Mick Palmer.

The Christmas special (and final ever episode) of beloved U.K. sitcom Gavin & Stacey is the U.K.’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters and streamers since current records began in 2002, with ratings already at 19.3 million, according to BBC data.

According to the BBC, the concluding episode of the British sitcom epic has now been watched by 19.3 million people, which makes it the most-watched scripted show since these records began some 23 years ago. It has smashed the show’s own record from the 2019 Christmas special – which reached 18.5M viewers in 28 days – in less than half the time, having premiered just nine days ago.

The final episode on Christmas Day was watched by 12.3M viewers live, beating the previous Christmas special from five years before, and since then another 7M have come to the 90-minute finale, which tied up the oh-so-juicy loose end of James Corden’s Smithy and Ruth Jones’ Nessa’s relationship. Stephen Moyer is set to star in and executive produce Art Detectives, described as an “aesthetically pleasing crime drama.” Acorn TV greenlit the series, and production is currently underway in Belfast and Northern Ireland.

Nina Singh (The Lazarus Project), Sarah Alexander (Coupling), and Larry Lamb (EastEnders) will co-star.

James Corden and Ruth Jones, the creators and stars of the classic British sitcom, took to Instagram on Friday to share a photo of them holding the script for an episode titled “the finale.”

“Some news… It’s official!!!” Corden and Jones wrote. “We have finished writing the last ever episode of ‘Gavin and Stacey.’ See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.”

Premiering in 2007, “Gavin and Stacey” follows the title characters, a boy from Essex and a girl from Wales (played by Mathew Horne and Joana Page), as well as Corden’s Smithy and Jones’ Nessa. As the show’s plot description reads, “Gavin and Stacey have been continuing their romance online and by telephone for the last six months. Now they want to be together, but will their friends and family let them?”

It’s been confirmed. Deadline’s scoop from earlier this year that another Gavin & Stacey Christmas special was in the works has been rubberstamped and it will be the smash comedy’s final ever.

In the final moments of BBC drama The Gold, the special taskforce investigators come to a ground-shaking realisation: all this time, they’ve only been chasing half of the swag, £13 million of the £26 million’s worth of bullion stolen in the infamous 1983 Brink’s-Mat bullion robbery. By 1986 they’d put away a handful of villains who committed or profited from the heist, but that was far from the extent of it. “Where do we start?” asks Di Brightwell. “At the beginning,” answers Dci Boyce.

It remains to be seen if The Gold will return to BBC One to tell the rest of the Brink’s-Mat story, but if does, there’s plenty of material. The investigation has continued decades after the event, as the cash was followed into international drug imports, original convictions were spent, and several suspects were killed in gangland executions years later.

Ross Kemp is returning to acting after 15 years for a Channel 5 police thriller that features on an upfront slate with Tim Peake, Ruby Wax and Jay Blades.

The EastEnders star will lead Clapperboard’s police thriller Blindspot for the Paramount-owned network. Kemp’s Tony Warden will help a disabled woman with a wry sense of humor, Hannah, played by newcomer Beth Alsbury, who believes she has witnessed the prelude to a murder while monitoring the CCTV on a rough estate.

Strictly Come Dancing fans were delighted by an unexpected Gavin and Stacey reunion during the show’s Christmas special.

This year’s Strictly Christmas special aired on Sunday (25 December), with Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell taking home the top prize together with her professional partner Kai Widdrington.

Elsewhere during the episode, fans were surprised to see both Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman on screen.

Lamb, 75, and Steadman, 76, played Mick and Pam Shipman, respectively, in the hit show Gavin and Stacey.

While it was only Lamb who was participating as a contestant on the BBC programme, Steadman appeared in a video message to wish him luck on his performance.

The actor was paired with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova. They performed an American Smooth, which scored a total of 31 points.

Prior to the scores being announced, however, Lamb received a surprise message from his former co-star.

Two-time Olivier Award winner Bertie Carvel Matilda will reprise his Olivier Award-winning performance as Rupert Murdoch and Olivier Award winner Jonny Lee Miller 'Elementary,' Frankenstein will play the editor of The Sun, Larry Lamb.

Jonny Lee Miller and Bertie Carvel will star in the spring Broadway production of Ink, James Graham’s play about a young Rupert Murdoch and the “rogue editor” he recruits to help vitalize both a newspaper and London’s 1960s press wars.

Miller (CBS’ Elementary and an Olivier Award winner for Frankenstein at London’s National Theatre), will play the Sun editor Larry Lamb, with Carvel reprising his Olivier-winning performance as Murdoch.

Directed by Rupert Goold, Ink begins previews Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway. The official opening is Wednesday, April 24.

The production and cast were announced today by Mtc’s artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive producer Barry Grove.
