So many stars stepped out for the Burberry fashion show in London!

Burberry creative director Daniel Lee said of the story behind the collection, “Think of them as weekend escapees. It’s that great Friday night exodus from London to the countryside for long rainy walks and to disconnect in the great outdoors. It’s day-trips to grand stately homes.”

Kate Winslet, Nicholas Hoult and Jodie Turner-Smith Star in Burberry’s New “London in Love” Campaign
Burberry has revealed the latest London forecast: “Sunny spells with some showers expected.” Throw in some movie stars and models in classic Burberry trench coats and you get a picture of the house’s new summer 2025 campaign, which dropped Wednesday.
The launch delivers seven short films inspired by beloved British romantic comedies of the late 1990s to early aughts. The campaign stars Kate Winslet, Nicholas Hoult, Jodie Turner-Smith, Richard E. Grant, Aimee Lou Wood, Chen Kun, Micheal Ward, Son Sukku and models Naomi Campbell, David Gandy and Liu Wen. Making a cameo is a Burberry knight in his full shining armor.
“A Burberry love story comes to life through the cinematic lens of this campaign. It’s about humor, optimism and, of course, the unpredictability of our great British weather,” Burberry chief creative officer Daniel Lee says in a statement.

The Acolyte press tour has pushed Jodie Turner-Smith to step outside her comfort zone, embracing a more daring and diverse style. However, for the press tour of her espionage thriller series, The Agency, in which she plays a more serious role as a professor of social anthropology and Michael Fassbender’s former love interest, Turner-Smith has chosen to keep things classy.
Her wardrobe selections this time also appeal to me, demonstrating her style prowess. No frills or feathers, no coquette-ish bows, no fanciful dresses—just pure glamour and elegance. While her classic Christian Louboutin shoes offer timeless sophistication, exploring other luxury options, like Jimmy Choo’s sleek pumps or Manolo Blahnik’s elegant sandals, could bring fresh variety to her ensembles.

Mount Everest, the highest summit on the planet, has become an enduring symbol of adventure and human capabilities. Its dangerous conditions and deadly allure have motivated filmmakers to explore the triumphs, tragedies, and enigmas surrounding the mountain. Films about the true story of Everest vary from thrilling fiction to gripping documentaries, each offering a distinct perspective on conquering the mountain or, sadly, succumbing to it. Through a blend of reenactments, personal accounts, and footage shot near the peak, these films bring audiences closer to the real dangers and motivations of those who aspire to reach the summit of Everest.
The best Mount Everest-related films are judged based on storytelling, emotional impact, and realism. The films span a wide range of genres with awe-inspiring visuals and elegant cinematography, featuring tales of personal triumph, historical expeditions, or hazardous rescues that could compare to some of the best disaster movies of all time.

Despite the efforts of festivals around the world, releasing and distribution companies, and streaming channels, which have gotten rather more intense during the last few years, the majority of titles produced in Japan, S. Korea and Hong Kong, which number hundreds every year remain unknown, particularly to the Western audience. As such, we decided to focus on this type of films exactly for our April-May tribute. And to be totally sincere, not all will be great just definitely worth watching. Here is the first batch
1. Three Resurrected Drunkards (1969) by Nagisa Oshima (Japan)
“Three Resurrected Drunkards” is an excellent sample of the cinematic tendencies of both Oshima and a whole group that tried to renovate cinema during the end of the 60s and the 70s, by combining new cinematic approaches with pointed sociopolitical commentary. Once upon a time there was a film industry that wasn't dominated by the comic book behemoths of D.C. and Marvel. Where a comic book style movie felt fresh, innovative and where the Hong Kong production line hadn't been stripped bare in the service of mainland blockbusters with a patriotic core. “Black Mask” in many respects is a last hurrah of an industry about to go through immense change. As Eureka Entertainment bring it to blu-ray, it's time to revisit this Frankenstein's monster of a collaborative effort between several unique talents.

Back in 1999, producers from Hong Kong and Japan had an idea of bringing together Leslie Cheung, then at the apogee of his career, and Takako Tokiwa, widely known as ‘Queen of Serial Drama' for her roles and awards on TV, in order to present a movie that moves between the romantic drama and the crime film, probably in an effort to capitalize in terms of commercial success. The result was not exactly masterful, but there are definitely enough elements here to make the movie worth watching. Let us take things from the beginning though.

New York, June 21 (Ians) An American digital health company has developed a 24/7 in-ear wearable device that measures blood flow to the head and helps understand the mechanisms behind long Covid-related brain fog.
The device by Stat Health can predict symptoms such as dizziness, brain fog, headaches, fainting, and fatigue that occur upon standing.
These are common symptoms for illnesses like long Covid, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (Pots), myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (Me/Cfs), and other orthostatic (caused by standing) syndromes.
The Stat wearable is the world’s smallest, and even smaller than some invisible-in-the-canal hearing aids. It can be worn in-ear 24/7 – even while sleeping and showering.
Stat uses an optical sensor instead of ultrasound and taps into a shallow ear artery to measure a proxy to ultrasound-derived cerebral blood flow — the blood supply to the brain in a given period of time.

Code Of The Assassins is a subtitled Chinese martial arts movie set in olden (long before guns) times. Expectations will determine your level of enjoyment. Those seeking the adrenaline rushes one gets from the high-octane fighting of a Jet Li or Tony Jaa should look elsewhere. Fans of more lyrical pacing, complex stories and lavish visuals are the target audience, and likely to regard this more favorably than I did. Closer to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon than to a Guy Ritchie or Michael Bay production.
The story consists of many factions vying for a treasure map, power over the region, and/or revenge. The protagonist and narrator is an assassin known as Blue Asura (Shaofeng Feng), trained from childhood by Ghost Valley’s cult of masked killers-for-hire after the rest of his family was massacred during the theft of that map by unknown attackers, who apparently lost it later. Now...

There is a particular challenge in most cinema genres in making your work stand out. “Code of the Assassins” had a particularly hard route to the screen. Initially started in 2017, all sorts of production and financial problems led to a 5 year wait for it to be completed. Taking a steam punk aesthetic and directed by visual stylist Daniel Lee it certainly has potential. The only question is that after five years and a troubled production will it live up to that?

Yowza. This Dragon Blade trailer (and its accompanying images and character posters) looks insane. I hope I'm not hurting anyone's feelings when I say that this simply isn't for me. I can take schlock with the best of them, and I like the work of a lot of people involved in this movie, but the combination of it being a swords and sandals affair (not my bag) and awful looking is a devastating one-two punch against any personal interest I have in this. But it exists, so if this kind of thing is in your wheelhouse, have at it! Hit the jump to check out the Dragon Blade trailer, images and character posters. John Cusack, Adrien Brody and Jackie Chan star in this film about Roman soldiers who are lost in China. Directed by Daniel Lee (White Vengeance), I'd expect to see this film hit sometime next year in the U.

John Cusack has been making no shortage of...interesting...choices lately when it comes to big screen roles, but no one could've guessed that he'd join Adrien Brody and Jackie Chan in something called "Dragon Blade." In fact, the whole project seems a bit unexpected, a $65 million dollar historial epic about Roman soldiers in China, but the first trailer is here to show you what it's delivering. Directed by Daniel Lee ("Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon," "Black Mask"), the story follows a Roman soldier on the run, and former Chinese guard who has become enslaved, whose paths cross in the Western Desert in China in 48 Bce. And what follows is a lot of really bad dialogue being expressed as earnestly as possible, coupled with some admittedly grand looking setpieces. All around, it sorta comes off as a lesser grade "Gladiator." "Dragon Blade" opens abroad on February 19th. There's no U.

Jackie Chan is set to star in Daniel Lee’s period action epic Dragon Blade, to be financed by start-up film fund Beijing Cultural Assets Chinese Film & Television Fund.

Washington, May. 2: Wide-eyed expressions, which typically signals fear, may enlarge our visual field and mutually enhance others' ability to locate threats, a new research has claimed.
The research - conducted by psychology graduate student Daniel Lee of the University of Toronto with advisor Adam Anderson - suggests that wide-eyed expressions of fear are functional in ways that directly benefit both the person who makes the expression and the person who observes it.
The findings of the research show that widened eyes provide a wider visual field that can help us locate potential threats in our environment.
These widened eyes also help to send a clearer gaze signal telling observers to "look there," which may enhance.

With big budget Chinese historical dramas and epics still proving incredibly popular, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that two films went into production around the same time about the Feast at Hong Gate, one of the most key and controversial event in the annals of the country’s history. Thankfully, the two films in question take very different approaches to the material, Daniel Lee’s reasonably enjoyable 2011 outing “White Vengeance” having focused mainly on the battles and personal rivalries. Now appearing somewhat later out of the gate is “The Last Supper”, arguably the more promising of the pair due to the presence of acclaimed director Lu Chuan, whose recent “City of Life and Death” still stands as one of the best Chinese films of the last decade. As expected, Lu’s offering is both more artistic and philosophically-minded, with Liu Ye (“City of Life and Death”), Daniel Wu...

Director: Daniel Lee. Review: Chris Sawin. Nothing beats epic films done right; whether they’re historically based or more action oriented. "The Warlords," "Mongol," and "The Last Samurai" are some personal favorites. These epics usually make room for everything including standout performances from actors you love, incredible war sequences, breathtaking cinematography, and a solid screenplay to bridge everything together. It's almost worse when a film like this fails because it reminds you of what it could have been and it rubs salt in the wound in the process. There's something great at the heart of "White Vengeance," but it's just never fully able to showcase it properly. "White Vengeance" takes place during the fall of the Qin Dynasty. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Feng Shaofeng) now find themselves at each other's throats when they were once both on the same side. Now with the title of emperor at...

★★★☆☆ Director Daniel Lee's White Vengeance (2011) follows a long precession of Chinese period action epics which have been released in the UK with growing frequency. Yet, Lee's film represents a refreshing shift of focus - albeit a shift which may prove to alienate the target demographic - the casual chop-socky action fan seeking the mandatory martial arts mayhem may be left somewhat disappointed.

Last week saw the release of a handful of new international films, with Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters topping the list, and this week brings with it a rather different line-up, with Peter Berg’s Battleship being the biggest name amongst the new arrivals, opposite Kevin Macdonald’s critically acclaimed documentary, Marley.
My picks of the week:
Kevin Macdonald’s Marley & Daniel Lee’s White Vengeance.

DVD and Blu-ray (inc. Digital and UltraViolet Copies)
Oscar-winner Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) returned this year with Marley, a documentary following on from his Life in a Day project last year, bringing us a portrait of one of the most iconic figures in music of the last century.
And we’ve currently got three copies of the film on Blu-ray to give away – click here to enter the competition.

Director: Daniel Lee. Review: Adam Wing. Daniel Lee’s best-known work before 2008 was Jet Li’s dated – yet brilliant – action adventure Black Mask. Since then he has made quite the niche for himself in the period action epic sub-genre. Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon was his first star-studded effort, and even though it will never be considered a classic, there’s a lot to recommend beyond the presence of Andy Lau and Maggie Q. What it does do it does very well, albeit in a solid, unspectacular, commercial kind of way. 14 Blades is the better picture, but then again, that might be down to my love of all things Donnie. Vicki Zhao, Donnie Yen and the former Miss Hong Kong sporting a metal whip – what it lacks in substance and depth, it makes up for in eye candy and action. A great man once sang, “A little less conversation,...

Daniel Lee’s (‘14 Blades,’ ‘Three Kingdoms’) big budget epic lands with a flurry of swordfights and martial arts action in the UK on August 20, but just in case you weren’t 100% sure it was worth a punt, they’ve released a spiffy new trailer that should well a truly seal the deal. Synopsis: White Vengeance tells the story of two brothers contending for supremacy during the fall of the Qin Dynasty. As rebels rose, the nation fell into chaos and commoners united to re-conquer the Middle Kingdom of Qin. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Feng Shaofeng), became sworn brothers in battle and leaders of the rebellious army tasked with overthrowing Lord Qin and seizing control of his vast empire. Yu and Bang both serve King Huai of Chu who uses their desire for a crown and a title to stir distrust between them. The ultimate betrayal and the...

Here’s the brand new UK trailer for White Vengeance which has been sent over to us by G2 Pictures. The movie is set for release on DVD and Blu-ray 20th August and has a real Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon feel mixed with a bit of The Last Samurai.
White Vengeance is directed by Daniel Lee (14 Blades and Three Kingdoms) and stars Shao-feng Feng, Leon Lai and Hanyu Zhang.
Two brothers contend for supremacy during the fall of the Qin Dynasty in Imperial China. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Feng Shaofeng), became leaders of a rebellious army, and also became sworn brothers in battle. King Huai states that whoever can subvert the Qin kingdom will be the Lord Qin, in order to benefit from the competition between Xiang Yu and Liu Bang. But who will emerge as the winner from this epic battle and survive to claim their path to the crown?...

Although its odd English title might suggest some kind of racially themed thriller, “White Vengeance” is actually Hong Kong director Daniel Lee latest Chinese historical epic, following up on “Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon” and Donnie Yen vehicle “14 Blades”. This time, Lee has chosen a weighty subject in the Hongmen Banquet, a landmark event which took place over 2000 years ago when various factions were vying for control after the fall of the Qin Dynasty. The prestigious blockbuster has a typically all-star cast, headlined by Leon Lai (“Bodyguards and Assassins”) and television star William Feng (“Palace”), with support from the legendary Anthony Wong (“The Untold Story”), Zhang Hanyu (“Assembly”), Jordon Chan (“Once a Gangster”), Andy On (“True Legend”) and actress Crystal Liu (recently in the “A Chinese Ghost Story” remake). The film begins in China during the last years of the Qin Dynasty, with the capture of the fallen...

Daniel Lee (14 Blades) is clearly working his way up on the budget tables. After years of operating in (elevated) B territory, White Vengeance is Lee's first true big budget feature. Those of you expecting an overpowering action-fest should take notice though, White Vengeance might look like it's filled to the brim with epic battle scenes, but the reality is quite different. Then again, the choice to cut back on action is one of this film's true perks.White Vengeance follows the same course that many other recent Chinese/Hong Kong historic war epics have been sailing. Sure enough there is massive warfare going on, with poor soldiers being clubbed, perforated and trashed to death. But battles are not decided by brute force and man power, instead...

If you’re in the mood for an action-packed epic, director Daniel Lee’s “White Vengeance” seems to be the cinematic menu item of choice. Everything I’ve seen thus far has been phenomenal, though looks can often be deceiving. Unless something goes wrong on a narrative level, I have a feeling this one’s going to be all sorts of badass. Mark my words. Or don’t. See if I care. Let’s being everyone up to speed with a synopsis: In the late Qin Dynasty, rebels rose and the nation fell into chaos. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Shaofeng Feng), serving under King Huai, were the leaders of the rebellious army. Liu Bang and Xiang Yu became sworn brothers in the battles. They had conquered the heartland of Qin Dynasty and caused its destruction. However, King Huai realized that Liu and Xiang were too powerful and he felt threatened by them.

After enjoying some early success in the action genre with Jet Li's Black Mask, writer-director Daniel Lee struggled to maintain any real momentum, which culminated in the truly ridiculous Dragon Squad in 2005. Since then he has moved into directing period wartime epics, firstly with the rather uninspiring Andy Lau/Sammo Hung vehicle Three Kingdoms: Ressurection Of The Dragon, followed by the notably better but still rather unexceptional 14 Blades, starring Donnie Yen. With his new film White Vengeance, Lee has been trusted with a bigger budget and a considerably larger canvas, for an epic story of loyalty, betrayal and the thirst for power. The film centres around a famous incident known as the Banquet of Hongmen, where opposing Generals Xiang Yu and Liu Bang met under...

Did you notice how authentic the soldiers in the teaser trailer for "The Avengers" were? Well, you should have, because they just might have been the real deal.
Joss Whedon recruited 25 members of the Ohio-based 391st Military Police Battalion for the big action sequence that factored heavily into last month's teaser trailer. The troops were brought in to add authenticity to the otherwise outlandish superhero film. "The combat scenes had great realism," said Lt. Col. John Clearwater, deputy director for Ocpa-la. "It's a tribute to the U.S. Army Reserves and the veteran 391st MP Battalion. They rocked the streets of Cleveland with their 50-caliber machine guns and Mark-19's. The film crew was blown away by their firepower and teamwork."
According to a report on the Army's website, Whedon took the 391st's advance to heart. "It's easy for us to make on-the-spot corrections to tactics and uniforms," Staff Sgt. Michael T.

When The Avengers was filming in Clevelend, Ohio, on a set dressed as the streets of NYC, the produces decided to enlist the Army Reserve’s 391st Military Police Battalion as extras for the climactic battle scene to help add realism to the shoot. Today, the U.S. Army released a small article that talks about how the 25 soldiers were used for Joss Whedon’s film and what the soldiers hope they were able to bring to the production.
Twenty-five Soldiers assigned to the Columbus, Ohio-based 391st Military Police Battalion were battling bad guys with Captain America and his Avengers superheroes during an intensive battle scene that will soon play out in movie theaters worldwide in 2012.

Daniel Lee has made quite the career for himself directing historical epics. His previous efforts, “14 Blades” and “Three Kingdoms”, are pretty good movies, though you must possess an appreciation for action-packed period pieces loaded with large-scale battles to truly enjoy them. Continuing in this tradition is Lee’s “White Vengeance”, which stars Leon Lai, Anthony Wong, Liu Yi-Fei, Jordan Chan, and Zhang Han-Yu. That’s a hell of a cast. I must say that the damned thing looks pretty good, and this is coming from someone who feels this sort of motion picture has been done to death. Leave it to Lee to make me eat my words. Here’s hoping this one tastes good. Here’s an epic synopsis for this epic actioner: In the late Qin Dynasty, rebels rose and the nation fell into chaos. After a long career as what could most charitably be termed a journeyman director could Daniel Lee finally be on the rise? Martial arts fans have long known Lee as the director of Jet Li's Black Mask, a film that is entertaining in bursts but significantly flawed. That description fits most of Lee's films since but it seems that in recent years he has slowly been climbing up the pecking order and landing higher quality projects. His most recent project - 2010's Donnie Yen starrer 14 Blades - though still not without some hiccups stands quite firmly as Lee's most roundly entertaining film. Will he be able to build on that success with the upcoming White Vengeance? In the late Qin Dynasty, rebels rose and...

2011 was going to be the "year of Ryan Reynolds" with the actor appearing in the superhero adaptation of Green Lantern and the r-rated body-switching comedy The Change-up. Instead of Reynolds being catapulted into super-stardom, however, both movies flopped.
Reynolds will get his third chance this year at winning over an audience with the family drama Fireflies in the Garden, which casts Reynolds as the novelist son of kind mother Julia Roberts and cruel father Willem Dafoe. While the cast is certainly impressive, there's only one reason the movie might not be Reynolds' box office redemption: it was shot three years ago and is being self-distributed by the movie's producers.
