In the not-publicly-released trailer for the pilot Doug Ellin hopes to sell, Kevin Connolly pursues an entertainment industry hustle alongside Kevin Dillon. At first glance, it looks like a reboot of Entourage, Ellin’s early-2000s show about a rising actor and his team that starred Connolly, Dillon and others. Then halfway through the trailer, Charlie Sheen shows up.

Connolly, playing a version of himself, needs a hit for his podcast studio. So he approaches Sheen, who is also playing a version of himself. “This could be an amazing opportunity for both of us,” fake Connolly tells fake Sheen. “It could be your get-out-of-jail-free card.”

Ellin has described this project, Ramble On, as being about second acts and redemption. Perhaps those themes are on Ellin’s mind 20 years after Entourage premiered on HBO. He has attempted other projects since then. But that was before the renewed attention Entourage seems to be getting,...

LCD Soundsystem has announced an imminent streaming special, “The LCD Soundsystem Holiday Special,” that will open with a ’90s-style-sitcom spoof, featuring actors portraying members of the band and their team, followed by a concert special, presumably featuring the real group. Tributes and remembrances began pouring in for the Oscar-nominated George Segal after his wife, Sonia Segal, confirmed the actor’s passing Tuesday at age 87.

In addition to his long résumé, Segal has been a regular on ABC’s The Goldbergs. That show’s creator, Adam F. Goldberg, was among the first to weigh in today, posting a collage of photos: Segal playing banjo, Segal dressed as a Transformer, Segal in full Batman attire, Segal with his Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

After blowing a big Broadway audition, a self-centered dancer reluctantly returns home and ends up coaching a squad of young misfits for a big competition. Young & Hungry fans are out of luck. Deadline reports Freeform has dropped plans for a movie follow-up to the cancelled TV show.

The comedy, which finished its final season in July, centers on food blogger, Gabi Diamond (Emily Osment), who becomes the personal chef of wealthy tech entrepreneur Josh Xander Kaminski (Jonathan Sadowski). The cast also includes Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley, Rex Lee, and Bryan Safi.

Freeform announced in March that the recently-concluded fifth season of Young & Hungry would be the popular multi-camera comedy series’ last, and that a finale movie was in the works to wrap up loose ends, but those plans have been scrapped. Star Emily Osment tweeted the news late last night. Freeform confirmed to Deadline Friday that the network is not moving forward with the movie, but revealed no further details.

“It breaks my heart to tell you that in addition to @FreeformTV not giving our Young & Hungry audience the ending our show deserved, they have Also decided to not go forward with a full length film,” Osment tweeted. “From me and my obvious future tv hubby @sadowski23 we love you and we’re sorry.”

The Season 5 finale ended with Gabi (Osment) proposing to Josh and asking him to move with her to Seattle, where she’ll be working under Iron Chef’s Alex Guarnaschelli.

Network: ABC Family / Freeform.

We checked the Disney/ABC press site and could not find a release, but if the show's star is returning in two weeks (now, one), there must be a show to which she will return. It turns out that it didn't quite resonate with the majority of them, getting only an overall 38 score out of a possible 100 across 38 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. And now another summertime staple appears at the multiplex: the feature film version of a television series. It’s not a recast movie adaptation of a beloved series from TV’s “golden” or “silver age” like Get Smart or The Fugitive nor one with an intense cult following that like Star Trek, which has inspired a long-running (over 35 years now) franchise (but who knows?). As someone who doesn’t watch a whole lot of television, it’s rare for me to actually be looking forward to seeing a film that’s basically just an extended version of a TV show. Is there still any interest in a feature film continuation of Entourage? Warner Bros. will find out early next month when it sends Ari (Jeremy Piven), Vince (Adrien Grenier) and the rest of the gang into theaters for their first big-screen adventure. In hopes of raising the pic’s profile, the marketing department has unleashed a slew of high-resolution images, revealing that the boys are still up to their old tricks.

The movie picks up with Ari having become the head of a major studio. Meanwhile, Vince is working on an adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which will serve as his directorial debut in Hollywood.
