Fox is getting an early start — very early, in fact — on the future of its animated series Krapopolis.
The network has ordered a fourth season of the show from creator Dan Harmon, which is set in a mythical version of ancient Greece where humans, gods and monsters intermingle. The early renewal is nothing new for Krapopolis, which by the time it premiered in September 2023 had already been picked up for three seasons. With the long production cycle for animated shows, ordering seasons well in advance can ensure an uninterrupted flow of episodes.
News of the renewal was announced late Thursday at Comic-Con in San Diego. The show’s second season is set to premiere in September.
“For all our Krap-devotees, there was no better place to decree another season of Krapopolis than the annual San Diego Comic-Con fan fest and no one better to deliver the proclamation than our brilliant creator and executive producer,...

If any of those particularly irate and irrational Rick and Morty fans return next season to claim that the show has gone to shit since series co-creator and former star Justin Roiland creeped and (allegedly) abused his way to an early retirement, don’t blame new stars Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden. Blame atrophy.
Roiland’s public unraveling following the filing of domestic abuse charges against him over a 2020 incident created a crisis at Adult Swim’s flagship franchise all last year that, thankfully, concluded with a new voice cast leading Rick and Morty to its strongest season in almost half a decade. Though the prosecution later dropped the felony domestic battery and false imprisonment charges Roiland faced due to lack of evidence, new public accusations against Roiland that detailed sexual assault and grooming behavior toward minors ruined the writer, animator and voice actor’s chances at a career comeback,...

The next time you see Dan Harmon on Instagram doing something other than writing the “Community” movie, please don’t yell at him to get back to work. It’s happening, Harmon promises, but there are so many moving parts that there has never been a precise timeline.
“When you see me making fart videos on the Internet, don’t worry that it means I’ve given up making the movie,” Harmon tells Variety. “It’s not how time or the industry work. If you see me doing it something other than typing, it’s not because I have stopped typing. It’s because when I get on Instagram, I don’t want to make videos about typing.”
Harmon’s update is that he’s doing a final pass on the script — but that’s also not the reason cameras haven’t rolled yet.

“If you hear a fire alarm, take it seriously,” the woman at the podium announced. “Proceed calmly, but exit swiftly.
This was a step beyond the standard “put away your cell phones” introduction, but this was no ordinary movie––we were seated to watch an original nitrate print of George Sidney’s rousing 1950 musical Annie Get Your Gun. It was the most danger I’ve ever been in while watching Howard Keel romance a woman under disreputable circumstances, and he did that often enough. The risk was plenty worthwhile to see the colors of this ostentatious, gaudy, not-a-little-bit-wacky musical really pop...

For those of us who remember going to the movies in 1977, we were treated to Star Wars, Smokey And The Bandit, The Spy Who Loved Me, Airport 77, The Car, Orca and Capricorn One. There was a rich wealth of movies to choose from and a time when audiences in their local cinemas would cheer and clap for the heroes. Then on December 14, 1977, coming off the success of Jaws, that director Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi masterpiece graced the screens. Close Encounters Of The Third Kind was the filmmaker’s next movie and, along with star Richard Dreyfuss and the magnificent score from composer John Williams, took audiences on a journey of mankind’s first meeting with aliens and let us know we are not alone in the universe.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Rick and Morty season 7, episode 10, "Fear No Mort."
Rick & Morty season 7' finale sets up character growth for Morty while emphasizing the centrality of Rick and Morty's bond. Morty's greatest fear is Rick viewing him as replaceable, prompting him to realize he can be more independent. Rick's decision to not enter The Hole shows growth and humility, but the defining relationship between Rick and Morty remains intact.

Historically, “Rick and Morty” has ended its seasons with a “big shoot ’em up” episode, aka a high-action, high-octane and highly canonical episode that often influences the course of series for seasons to come. That’s not the approach Season 7’s conclusion takes.
Written by Heather Anne Campbell and directed by Eugene Huang, “Fear No Mort” is one of the most intimate and introspective episodes this series has ever aired. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Rick and Morty season 7, episode 10!
The season 7 finale of Rick and Morty has a disconcerting post-credits scene involving Mr. Poopybutthole replacing another version of himself. The scene suggests that Mr. Poopybutthole is not who viewers thought he was and will be explored in later seasons. The future direction of the story after the post-credits scene is unclear, but it is clear that Mr. Poopybutthole is unwell.
Rick and Morty executive producer Steve Levy has explained the season 7 finale's disconcerting post-credits scene, and what it means for a key character going forward. The final minutes of the show's latest season saw Mr. Poopybutthole use Rick's portal gun to murder a happier version of himself in the multiverse. While taking his other self's happy life, this version Mrs. Poopybutthole appears suspicious.

Rick and Morty wrapped its seventh season in spectacularly nightmarish fashion on Sunday, forcing the titular duo (but really just Morty?) to confront their darkest fears, a journey that reunited Rick (but not really Rick?) with his late wife, among other dramatic developments. Like most episodes of this show, it was… a lot.
“Season 7 was really all about conjuring Diane, Rick finally being able to say her name again and everyone beginning to really heal in terms of all that,” executive producer Scott Marder tells TVLine. “Rick’s going to continue growing and figuring out what life is like beyond...

This article contains spoilers for Rick and Morty season 7 episode 10.
Rick and Morty season 7 had a lot to be afraid of.
Adult Swim‘s animated hit went into the year without the original voices of its titular characters following co-creator Justin Roiland’s dismissal of the show. This meant that the show’s writing staff, led by co-creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder, had to work in two new major voice actors (Ian Cardoni as Rick and Harry Belden as Morty) while also fighting against the inevitable fan perception of creative inertia that all animated series face nearly a decade in.
Perhaps it’s no surprise then that the theme of season 7’s 10th and final episode all comes down to fear. Fittingly titled “Fear No Mort,” the season finale finds Rick and Morty meeting a mysterious thrill-seeker (voiced by Liev Schreiber) and being brought to a Denny’s...

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, episode 8, "Caves"
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" tackles a controversial plot hole by suggesting that the warp speed limit was a planted conspiracy by the Vendorians. The franchise has struggled to maintain the warp speed limit concept, creating inconsistencies and plot holes in other Star Trek shows. By introducing doubt into the veracity of the ban, "Lower Decks" addresses the controversy surrounding the warp speed limit, taking a step in the right direction.

In classic Trek tradition, there's always a filler episode (or three) in any given season, and at least one is a classic clip show.
Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Episode 8 manages to give the trope of a clip show a twist in that its clips are all new scenes.
No, there's no development in the mysterious vessel's long-arc plot, but our Fab Four get to bond and revisit what makes them such great friends to begin with.
It's a fact that before Mariner ever moans about their away mission, there are over Thirty separate cave-based adventures in televised Trek history (including Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 1 Episode 8 And Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 3.)
Furthermore, caves have played major roles in multiple Trek motion pictures. So Mariner's got a point. Caves are kind of over-represented as far as landforms go.
Clip shows are a great device for bringing back recurring characters by rehashing old footage.

Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon has an idea about what could potentially trigger the ending of the popular adult-animated sitcom.
After nearly a decade since Rick and Morty made its series debut in Dec. 2013, the Adult Swim series still shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, as it prepares to enter its seventh installment this October. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon revealed that if it’s only up to him, he would like Rick and Morty to run for 100 seasons because "it’s designed to." When asked about his thoughts on how the show would wrap up the titular duo’s storyline, Harmon revealed that Rick and Morty’s adventures could possibly end once Morty becomes an official teenager.

Rick and Morty brings back Mr. Poopybutthole in a new clip from the upcoming Season 7.
In previous seasons, Mr. Poopybutthole had become a favorite with fans, despite his limited appearances. Like the show's titular characters, he was also voiced by series co-creator Justin Roiland. After Roiland's termination from the show, new voice actors were brought in to replace him, and a previously-released trailer revealed new voices for Rick and Morty. In the new clip, uploaded to YouTube by Adult Swim, Mr. Poopybutthole returns as well, similarly with a new voice actor.

The Season 7 premiere episode is titled, "How Poopy Got His Poop Back," and Mr. Poopybutthole's return had been expected. The new clip reveals how the character is not doing very well amid his continued recovery after he was shot by Beth (Sarah Chalke), who'd mistaken him for a memory-altering parasite.

Longtime NHL analyst and former hockey coach and player Barry Melrose is retiring from ESPN after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
““I’ve had over 50 extraordinary years playing, coaching and analyzing the world’s greatest game, hockey,” he said in a statement. “It’s now time to hang up my skates and focus on my health, my family, including my supportive wife Cindy, and whatever comes next.”
The news was first revealed by Melrose’s friend and network colleague John Buccigross, just hours before the 2023-2024 NHL season begins.
“I’ve worked with Barry at ESPN for over a quarter century. Cold beers and hearty laughs in smokey cigar bars,” Buccigross wrote on X along with a tribute video from ESPN. “A razor sharp wit, he was always early & looked like a million bucks. I love him. I’ll miss him.”

ESPN’s “Toy Story”-themed alternative live stream of Sunday’s Jaguars-Falcons game was incredibly ambitious, and it showed early on in the form of technical issues.
The stream was available on both Disney+ and ESPN+. That is, if you could get in. I was able to log in on my second or third try after fully restarting my TV; a colleague gave up after five minutes of continuous trying. Those who joined halfway (or more) through the first quarter probably had the best viewer experience.
Ball-tracking was the first noticeable challenge and the most consistent issue throughout the game. At times, the football would just appear on random spots of the carpet (field) or slide around the playing surface on its own. Sometimes The Claw, playing the role of umpire in Andy’s room, never even spotted the ball at the line of scrimmage.

Rick and Morty season 7 will feature new actors in Justin Roiland's roles, but the creators are confident in maintaining the show's quality. The new actors portraying Rick and Morty will sound like Justin Roiland, ensuring a seamless transition for viewers. Despite the recasting, the producers believe that Rick and Morty season 7 will be even better without Roiland's involvement, praising the writing team.
In attempts to ease their viewers' concerns, the creators and crew of Rick and Morty have spoken candidly about the process of recasting Justin Roiland for season 7. Co-creator Roiland, who voiced the titular interdimensional adventurers, was fired from Adult Swim's hit series following a series of abuse allegations. Dan Harmon’s hit adult-animated series Rick and Morty may potentially make its way to the big screen in the near future.
Since debuting in 2013, Rick and Morty has continued to be one of Adult Swim’s most popular and acclaimed animated shows to date, amassing multiple awards including two Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program. That’s why, it would certainly not be a surprise if the titular fan-favorite duo would follow in the footsteps of The Simpsons and South Park, and star in their own movie someday. Dan Harmon’s new adult animated series “Krapopolis” finally debuts Sunday evening after years in the works at Fox. The Covid-19 pandemic prompted the show’s staff to shake up virtually every step of development and production, from a virtual writers’ room to a Zoom table read.
Just before the pandemic hit the U.S. in March 2020, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn encouraged Harmon to dust off an old idea the “Community” creator had shared about a show set in ancient Greece, but had yet to explore.

Beneath the idiosyncrasies of the animated show “Strange Planet,” originally created by comic artist Nathan W. Pyle, lies a message that Pyle hopes stays with the show’s viewers.
Five episodes of the cartoon comedy are now streaming on Apple TV+. The show, adapted from Pyle’s two books with the help of Dan Harmon and Steve Levy, has covered several characters — called beings — on the planet introduced in the opening sequence and song. Subplots include the dismantling of a rock band, cat-sitting gone awry, a cliffside restaurant named Careful Now that may or may not fall into a bottomless void and more.
“We wanted to find the right balance between anthological, a completely new story every time, and some recurring characters, a world that you’re seeing more than once. I think we succeeded, not perfectly, but I think we succeeded. The hope was defined as well. Reasons and...

Rick and Morty season 7 will premiere on October 15, according to a new poster unveiled by Adult Swim. Co-creator and lead star Justin Roiland was fired from the show after being charged with felony domestic battery, with an unannounced new actor taking over the voice of Rick and Morty. The upcoming episodes may even be better without Roiland, as the team has leaned on each other and the real-world situation took precedence.
Rick and Morty season 7's release date has been confirmed for fall as a new poster reveals the return of the titular duo alongside Summer. The highly-anticipated new episodes carry an extra bit of significance for the long-running show as it comes after co-creator and lead star Justin Roiland was fired after being charged with felony domestic battery. The animated series will forge ahead with a still unannounced new actor taking over as the voices of Rick and Morty.

Typically, when it comes to choosing a “Rick and Morty” episode to submit for Emmys consideration, it’s a struggle to find a non-canon-heavy show that can “really blow an Emmy voter’s mind but still be palatable to anybody,” executive producer Steve Levy told TheWrap.
“That’s the hope at least,” he said.
Season 6’s “Night Family” met those parameters, an installment that simultaneously manages to hone on this family’s complex dynamics, serve as a pitch-perfect horror homage and push the animation “to a whole new level” without requiring hours of backstory to understand. But there’s another reason why this episode stands as an especially smart selection for the sci-fi-series. On nearly every creative level, “Night Family” showcases how Dan Harmon’s Adult Swim can adapt and has evolved.

Rick and Morty’s latest season experimented with different genres and styles, among them a B-movie-inspired horror episode, "Night Family".
In an interview with the LA Times, executive producer Steve Levy spoke about developing Season 6, the show’s influences, and Emmy nominations. The show follows Rick Sanchez, a mad scientist with a knack for inventing unwittingly-sinister gadgets. In the "Night Family" episode, Rick invented the "somnambulator", which forced the family to perform tasks in their sleep. However, this attempt at avoiding tedious duties backfired.

The episode was one of Rick and Morty’s first forays into the horror genre, which Levy said allowed the team to explore new storytelling avenues. "We really got to dig into what makes the horror B-movie genre special," he explained. "We were able to use lighting, color and shadows and jump scares in ways we’d never done before.

An exclusive clip from the upcoming fourth season of the animated comedy series, Solar Opposites, offers our best look (and sound) yet of new cast member Dan Stevens as Korvo. Coming courtesy of Hulu, Stevens takes over the lead role of Korvo from Justin Roiland following accusations of violence and abuse that have been leveled at the writer and voice actor. You can check out our exclusive clip from Solar Opposites season four below.
Beginning back in 2020, Solar Opposites centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Dan Stevens) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love TV, junk food and fun stuff.

Rick and Morty producer Steve Levy addressed how Justin Roiland's controversial exit affected the production of the upcoming Season 7.
Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Levy revealed that despite the challenges, the Rick and Morty crew was able to overcome it by relying on each other and not letting Roiland's absence affect their hard work. "We had a rug pulled from underneath us," he said. "The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, 'I'm done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.' But our crew said, 'No, we're not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.' This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat.

Where to Watch Powered by Justin Roiland's departure from Rick and Morty due to allegations has had a significant impact on the show's audience, who are curious about how the show will handle his absence and the transition to new actors. The series plans to find sound-alike actors who can mimic Roiland's performance, ensuring that his presence will continue to be felt in the show. This choice may remind viewers of Roiland and the allegations against him every time Rick and Morty speak. While the show could have replaced Roiland's performance with distinct voices, the iconic nature of his portrayal and the improvisational dialogue makes it difficult to imagine Rick and Morty without him. Despite the pressure, the series can still create impactful stories without Roiland's involvement.
