Cobra Kai beautifully revives the rivalry from The Karate Kid with new characters, giving depth to 30+-year-old characters. Demetri in Cobra Kai stands out as a moral compass, showcasing humility, intellect, and staying true to his values. Fans love Demetri for his relatability, common sense, and growth, making him an underrated character worth noticing.
Cobra Kai beautifully weaves the 30+-year-old rivalry between Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) from The Karate Kid with a newly refreshed story following a young cast of karate students. The main new characters are Sam (Mary Mouser), Miguel (Xolo Mariduea), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Tory (Peyton List), with other supporting characters as part of the larger ensemble cast as well.
Some of these characters get their moments to shine, while others fade into the background with very few lines of dialogue. There are a few tertiary characters, however, who deserve more attention.

The Sekai Taikai Tournament will be at the heart of the final season of Cobra Kai, with intense training and difficult choices for the dojos. Tory's struggles, including her mother's death, led to her joining Kreese in the tournament, creating complex feelings among fans. Fans debate who should win the tournament, with Tory seen as a deserving candidate despite her affiliation with Cobra Kai.
Cobra Kais sixth and final season is gearing up to be all about the Sekai Taikai Tournament, the biggest worldwide tournament in karate. In the first five episodes of the season, Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka), and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) are busy training the kids to fight. However, when they learned that only six fighters could represent each dojo in the Barcelona-held tournament, they enlisted the help of Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) to be an impartial sensei.

The rivalries between the kids of Cobra Kai come and go, but one thing remains forever true Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) is a terrible boyfriend. Sure, the guy has a lot of his own issues to deal with, but, the way he treats his girlfriend Tory Nichols (Peyton List) in Season 6 is pretty unforgivable. The guy is clearly not the teen heartthrob the showrunners of Cobra Kai often frame him as. Robby has always struggled, whether it be with forging a healthy relationship with his father, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), or with controlling his own emotions. A troubled personal history continues into troubled relationships, as hes never been the reliably decent boyfriend that his girlfriends deserve. Whether it be with Tory or his ex-girlfriend Samantha Larusso (Mary Mouser), Robby always puts himself first, repeatedly proving himself unworthy of a committed romantic relationship.

Everybody’s gonna be kung fu fighting…for another season, anyway. “Cobra Kai,” the “Karate Kid” sequel series, has been renewed for a sixth and final season at Netflix, the streamer announced January 20.
“Reacquainting the world with ‘The Karate Kid’ universe has been our humble honor,” series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg wrote in a statement posted to social media. “Making ‘Cobra Kai’ has allowed us to join the same hallowed dojo once inhabited by the great Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub, and all the amazing original cast members. It has also enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We’ve never once taken this opportunity for granted.
“Our day one goal with ‘Cobra Kai’ has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined.

The younger cast members of Cobra Kai all play teenagers in high school, and they are all relatively close in age. Actress Peyton List expressed confusion earlier this year over the current ages of the teens as they continue to grow out of high school. While many of the character's birthdays aren't explicitly mentioned, many of them are in the same grade and therefore could be determined based on what school year they are in.
The events of Cobra Kai begin 33 years after the events of The Karate Kid, beginning in 2017 when many of the teenagers are entering their sophomore year. With the Cobra Kai timeline now taking place in the summer of 2019 as of season 5, most of the students are now going into their senior year and on the verge of becoming adults. The consistency of the timeline helps make it easier to determine how old the Cobra Kai characters are.

Warning: Spoilers for Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1, Episode 19 - "Supernova, Part 1"Star Trek has developed a bad habit of unnecessarily killing its villains, but Star Trek: Prodigy episode 19, "Supernova, Part 1," did the right thing with Asencia (Jameela Jamil). Asencia's plan came to fruition in "Supernova, Part 1," as their weapon, the Living Construct, sent the USS Protostar into Federation space. Predictably, the Protostar was intercepted by a Starfleet armada, which is exactly what Asencia wanted. All she had to do was board the Protostar to activate the Living Construct, and it would send a signal to make Starfleet destroy itself.
Asencia revealed she was really a Vau'Nakat in Star Trek: Prodigy episode 15, "Masquerade." Calling herself the Vindicator, Asencia was one of a hundred Vau'Nakat and Drednoks who volunteered for a one-way mission to go back in time and find the USS Protostar. Casablanca Records is one of the most influential music labels in history, but the story of its founder, Neil Bogart, isn't as well-known as it should be. Donna Summer, Parliament, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Isley Brothers, The Village People, Bill Withers, and the rock band Kiss all rose to great heights thanks to Bogart and were signed to the label that would become the most successful independent record company in history. Now, the film "Spinning Gold" looks to transport audiences back to the 1970s, when disco reigned supreme, funk was beginning to pick up steam, and Neil Bogart was on top of the world. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming music producer biopic, and more.

"We were waging an all-out war against all the majors all at once." Hero + Universal have unveiled an official trailer for a music history biopic titled Spinning Gold, now set to open in select theaters starting in late March. The film is actually a biopic feature, not really a documentary, about the 1970s record producer Neil Bogart, co-founder of Casablanca Records. It's written and directed by producer / filmmaker Timothy Scott Bogart, who happens to be Neil Bogart's son. In a story so unbelievable that it can only be true, comes the motion picture event of the musical journey of Neil Bogart and how his Casablanca Records created the greatest soundtrack of our lives. Jeremy Jordan stars as Neil, along with Michelle Monaghan, Peyton List, Jason Isaacs, Lyndsy Fonseca, Sebastian Maniscalco, Dan Fogler, Caylee Cowan, Winslow Fegley. This is quite an impressive cast! Many issues plagued Star Trek: Nemesis but boring Romulans shouldn't have been one of them considering the film was written by the Academy Award-nominated writer of Gladiator. The final Star Trek: The Next Generation film, Star Trek: Nemesis was based around Shinzon (Tom Hardy), a clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), trying to destroy the United Federation of Planets. Star Trek: Nemesis also introduced the Remans and brought the Romulans to the forefront as major villains in a Star Trek movie, but neither race came off as menacing as intended.
John Logan, a good friend of Brent Spiner, was hired as the writer of Star Trek: Nemesis, but he failed his own Romulan characters. Logan is a lifelong Star Trek fan and since he was fresh of an Oscar nomination for writing Gladiator, which won multiple awards including the Best Picture Oscar, so he seemed ideal to mastermind the new Star Trek movie.

Two girls, Cotton (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) and Zooza (Peyton List), are trawling a garage sale when an old woman approaches them to tell them about the strange object on the table – it’s a “friendship game”, one that will tell you who your real friends are. So, of course, they buy the freakish object and get their friends Courtney (Kelcey Mawema) and Rob (Brendan Meyer) to play along. The object of the game? The Friendship Game is a Canadian horror movie directed by Scooter Corkle, starring Peyton List, Brendan Meyer and Jennifer Copping.
A teen and YA horror flick that could have been better. A promising premise, a disappointing production.
Premise
A group of friends come across a strange artifact that will put their friendship at risk. All the while, a hacker watches them with her spyware.
Movie Review
Do you know when a movie is not particularly well elaborated and the story is a bit disappointing? ‘The Friendship Game’ is one such example. Following a rather flat start, and despite it, you think to yourself, “oh, I will give it a chance.” Because the premise seems promising, and we expect it to tell us a story with multiple narratives, and think, “it might actually be worth the while.”
Unfortunately, that is not the case, but, hey, we did give it a chance.

Cobra Kai's fifth season is shaping up to be its most dramatic.
Netflix on Tuesday dropped the official trailer for Season 5, and it's a lot.
Despite the series being a spinoff of the hit movies, it has managed to take us on a wild ride, complete with new and established characters.
Sean Kanan's Mike Barnes is not in the trailer, but there is a lot of Kreese behind bars.
Hey, we won! Kreese will still be scheming from behind the scenes, which is perfectly on brand for him.
"Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his "No Mercy" style of karate the only game in town," the logline teases.

Silver is poised to take over the whole valley with Cobra Kai dojos. But after the abuse that he amassed upon teenage Daniel way back in The Karate Kid Part III, Daniel wants to cut the head off the snake, specifically the cobra.

‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 Teaser: Johnny Lawrence Front-Kicks Through a Surfboard as We Get Premiere Date
You officially have four months to pick up that karate gi from the dry cleaner. “Cobra Kai” Season 5 is set to premiere on Netflix on September 9, fans learned Thursday during Night 7 of the 2022 “Netflix Is a Joke” festival. Attendees of “Cobra Kai: Live & Bad Ass” were also treated to a teaser-trailer; Dave Chappelle really could have used the teens two nights earlier at his own “Netflix Is a Joke” event.
We get no John Kreese (Martin Kove) in the teaser, because, well, he’s in jail. But with Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) — the guy who put him there — still in town, there is plenty of kicking-based violence.
“The only thing better than a full dojo, is a whole Valley of full dojos,” Silver says via voiceover to separate the Season 4 recap from the new footage. It seems San Fernando, California once again has karate fever, and with no Miyagi-Do to turn to,...

Based on the original ’80s “Karate Kid” franchise by Robert Mark Kamen, “Cobra Kai” focuses on the characters of Daniel Larusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), 30 years after the events of the original films. Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 5 will be released on September 9, it was revealed in the action-packed teaser trailer above.
The video sees the story pick up after the events of the Season 4 finale where Tory Nichols (Peyton List) emerged as the champion of the All Valley Tournament earning a major win for her dojo, Cobra Kai. But she didn’t really win, a fact she was made aware of in the final beats of last season when she overhears Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) admitting to rigging the results.
It appears Tory has not revealed the deception in the teaser, as Cobra Kai has now become the dojo for teens to kick butt in the valley in full franchise mode shuttering Miyagi-Do Karate and Eagle Fang.
Silver is back and holding a prominent position of power at the dojo and will face resistance.

"Maybe there's middle ground between being a boot camp sergeant and a beach bum?" MarVista Ent. has released an official trailer for Swimming for Gold, a campy motivational sports romantic comedy from "Love Island" director Hayley MacFarlane. When US women's swim team hopeful Claire Carpenter's dad sends her to Australia to coach an elite boys swim team, Claire finds herself face to face with long-time rival Mikayla Michaels, and the news that the camp will close if the team loses the next meet. To save the camp, Claire must overcome a secret fear, put aside her differences with Mikayla, and rediscover her passion for swimming. Starring Peyton List as Claire, joined by Daniel Needs, Lauren Esposito, Olivia Nardini, Johrel Martschinke, Ray Chong Nee, Martin Dingle Wall, and Candice Hill. This looks as cheesy as any movie can be, with every last romcom trope and cringe-worthy bit of dialogue they could squeeze in.
