Grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Attended University of Southern California School of Cinema/Television Production Undergraduate Program.

Has worked as a television and film writer since writing the NYPD Blue (1993) episode "Tea and Sympathy" in 2000.

Member of the 'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' (AMPAS) since 2016.
