Tommy, his Trainspotting (1996) character, was the only main character not to be featured in the poster campaign. This was because Kevin went on holiday straight after filming finished, and missed the photo-shoot.

McKidd has a son Joseph (born 2000) and a daughter Iona (born 2002) by his first marriage to Jane Parker. The family became U.S. citizens in 2015. The union ended in divorce in 2017 after 17 years. McKidd remarried, to Arielle Goldrath, with whom he has two very small children.
