Sabrina Carpenter could have never predicted that her song about coffee would explode the way that it has since it dropped in April.

When the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter decided to release “Espresso” before the summer, she figured the drink was more of a fall beverage and wouldn’t cut through the noise because of that.

“I really didn’t know if it would connect, but the sentiment and the sound of the song and the confidence that it kind of just carries along with it was something that I really believed in,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter exclusively. “So, I had literally no idea that anyone would like it, but I liked it, and that was kind of all that mattered to me in that moment, and something I try to remember over and over again.”

The hit was the most-streamed song of the year on Spotify, garnering more than 1.6 billion dreams.

The rappers will compete in two categories at the June 30 show: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. In the latter category, Drake is nominated for “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sza and Sexyy Red, while Lamar is nominated for his guest verse on the remix of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem.”

Drake is the show’s top contender with seven nominations, thanks to his album For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Lamar didn’t release an album that was eligible this year. I must confess, at first I had no desire to watch this film, but as a professional, I felt obligated. However, I must also confess that we were pleasantly surprised by this original musical, written and starring Jennifer Lopez, which revolves around her own life and love affairs, as one may expect.

However, “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is not just about the romances known from magazines and television. It is a futuristic video clip with several musical numbers, each with high quality in terms of photography and set design. Although it may seem self-centered and geared towards her fans, I must admit that “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is of great quality and production.

It wasn’t the singing, acting or intricate choreography featured in the 65-minute musical, as the multihyphenate can do all of that in her sleep. The real hurdle arose when the money disappeared and Lopez opted to open her wallet to pay for the whole thing.

“Everybody thought I was crazy when I said I would do it. We did have financing, and then that fell out.
