Hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage on April 23, 2010.

Was forced early on in his music career to disclose his insulin dependence due to Type 1 diabetes after an incident at Madison Square Garden where he collapsed onstage while performing with Poison. He was so nervous in the preceding hours, he took his insulin shot, and forgot to eat anything afterwards, which sent him into insulin shock while onstage. This, combined with photos that began to circulate of him self-administering insulin (with people mistakenly assuming he was injecting narcotics) forced his hand, and he disclosed that his dependence on insulin.

Underwent an emergency appendectomy on April 12, 2010.
