David Paulsen(I)
- Producer
- Additional Crew
- Writer
Born March 3, 1946, David Paulsen worked as a free-lance writer for 'Dallas' and its spin-off, 'Knots Landing' in the early years of these series. He became a story editor/producer for 'Dallas' in its post-'Who Shot JR?" period and worked closely with producer Leonard Katzman to keep 'Dallas' on track and the top TV program around the world.. Paulsen has been credited with having an almost Shakespearean sense of irony and plot structure, eventually taking his narrative sensibilities to the ninth and final season of 'Dynasty' in 1988, a series in creative and ratings freefall for several years prior to Paulsen's arrival --- despite Paulsen's numerous improvements for 'Dynasty,' ABC's moving the show to a dead end timeslot on Thursday, actors' departure, and audience erosion for several season, prevented the show being salvaged. Paulsen also worked, rather unhappily. as supervising producer for "Knots Landing' in its seventh season (1985-86).
