Mad Men star Christina Hendricks thinks audiences have “learned a little bit of manners” since the days she was playing Joan Holloway in the AMC smash.

Reflecting on a decade having passed since the end of Mad Men, Hendricks told Deadline society has improved for the better in terms of the way in which men in particular discuss female actors.

“I think people have learned a little bit of manners now and know you don’t ask about physicality and bodies straight up when you have never met them,” said Hendricks, who was six-times Emmy nominated for Mad Men. “It’s really none of their business. I think there has been a big change since then.”

With Stranger Things concluding in epic fashion this year, The Duffer Brothers (that’s Matt and Ross) are going to have to find a way to fill their time; after all, they’ve spent a decade on that show alone. With that, The Duffer Brothers have a couple of projects going on, one of which is The Boroughs, another project in development for Netflix. And while it might not be taking viewers to the Upside Down, it does share some qualities.

The Duffer Brothers turned up at the Next on Netflix event this week to not only promote Stranger Things but The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, in which they will serve as executive producers. On these, Matt said, “Of the two projects, The Boroughs probably shares the most DNA with Stranger Things because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil.

Netflix is set to break new ground in supernatural drama with “The Boroughs,” a unique series from the creators of “Stranger Things” that shifts the genre’s focus to older protagonists. When word of The Boroughs, a new series produced by Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers, first got out more than two years ago, the supernatural/horror drama was referred to as “Stranger Things at a retirement home.”

Netflix pushed back at that description and the link between the two shows. At the streamer’s Next on Netflix 2025 slate presentation Wednesday, the Duffers made the connection themselves, revealing for the first time that, like their Stranger Things counterparts, the characters in The Burroughs also will be battling “otherworldly evil.”

Today, BritBox and the BBC released first-look pictures of Towards Zero, based on the classic mystery by the best-selling author of all time, Agatha Christie. The series was adapted for the screen by BAFTA-nominated Rachel Bennette (Nw) and directed by the Olivier Award-winning Sam Yates (Magpie).

What is The Boroughs about?

According to the show’s summary, it is set in an idyllic retirement community where a group of ragtag residents team up to stop a big bad from stealing time.

Netflix has released new details on The Boroughs, a project from the Stranger Things and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance teams that was announced back in April 2023. Described as a sci-fi / supernatural mystery, the upcoming series just announced a big-name cast and confirmed an eight-episode season.

“In a seemingly picturesque retirement community, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have… time,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. The streamer didn’t indicate a target time frame for The Boroughs to premiere.

The performers will step into the shoes of individuals who will have to face a mysterious force that will clearly not belong on Earth.
