In 2020, Andrew resigned as a working royal following accusations from
Virginia Roberts Giuffre that she had been sex-trafficked to Andrew by Jeffrey Epstein when she was 17 years old; Andrew denied the allegations. Giuffre sued Andrew for assault in a civil case, which was settled in 2022 after Andrew agreed to make a sizable donation to Giuffre's charity for victims of abuse. Following this, Queen Elizabeth removed Andrew's honorary military affiliations and royal charitable patronages, and he agreed to no longer use his "Royal Highness" style in an official capacity.
