Mumbai, Nov 22 – Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Govinda are set to reprise their roles in Bhagam Bhag 2, the sequel to the 2006 cult comedy directed by Priyadarshan. The project marks their reunion after nearly two decades, bringing fresh excitement to fans of the original film, which has grown in popularity through social media over the years.

The rights for the sequel have been acquired by Sarita Ashwin Varde of Roaring River Productions in collaboration with Shemaroo Entertainment, with Varde also producing the film. Work on the script is already underway, and the movie is expected to commence production in mid-2025.

“Because a special film like Bhagam Bhag deserves a sequel that’s just as special,” said Varde, explaining the delay in announcing the follow-up. “When the time was right, we decided to take the plunge.”

The show was released on 15th August 2023 and brings in stories from Kerala about life, choices, love, and relationships. The show brings on board eight directors, with Priyadarshan helming as the showrunner, and gives the audience a peek into the characters written by M.T.

Shilalikhitham (or Stone Inscriptions in English), directed by Priyadarshan, is the fourth short film of the anthology, Manorathangal. It surprises me how a writer can leave you with so many thoughts to ponder over in just a few pages. Every story that is a part of the anthology series has the potential to be transformed into a complete novel or a feature film, and that’s the genius of Vasudevan Nair.
