He entered the theater studio at the Saratov Drama Theater, where he began to appear on the professional stage at the age of 17. Then Romanov went to Moscow and entered the Moscow Art Theater studio, on the course of Pilyavskaya and Karev. In 1959-1961 he studied at the theater studio at the Saratov Drama Theater named after Karl Marx, was an actor of this theater. In 1966 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio. In 1966-1982 - actor of the Stanislavsky Moscow Drama Theater. In 1982-1985 - at the Taganka Drama and Comedy Theater (as part of the group of director A. Vasiliev). Since 1990 - actor of the Moscow Hermitage Theater. On television, one of the most unexpected and notable works of Boris Romanov is the role of Death in Vika Tsyganova's video clip "Love and Death". Honored Artist of Russia (1994). People's Artist of Russia (2004).
