During their acclaimed new run of Wolverine, writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Martín Cóccolo have introduced the looming threat of the Adamantine, an ancient primal force who’s been tracking down and controlling villains enhanced by Adamantium.

After fighting his way through Lady Deathstrike, Cyber and more, Wolverine was recently confronted with Adamantine's golden-armoured champion, Romulus.

Romulus, the mastermind villain who manipulated Wolverine's tragic life for decades, is back, and his brutal battle with Wolverine in this week's Wolverine #7 revealed Adamantine's lore-shattering history and the scope of its revenge. This explosive first arc concludes next month in Wolverine #8, the milestone 400th issue of Wolverine.

Major studios are sure to have reached out already, and we're now hearing that Madison could be in line to play a character in an upcoming Marvel Studios project.

The Academy Awards took place yesterday evening and, as per usual, the results have split opinions. Anora was the surprise Best Picture winner, with Wicked and Conclave failing to keep the momentum going following other recent award ceremonies.

Conan O'Brien hosted this year's and his performance of "I Won't Waste Time" was accompanied by surprise appearances from Dune: Part Two's Sandworm and Deadpool & Wolverine's Dancepool.

We don't know who was in the suit, though the Merc with the Mouth - who O'Brien reminded us wasn't among the nominees - pulled off some familiar Backstreet Boys-inspired dance moves before making his exit.

Anora picks up five Oscars, in a surprisingly mixed Oscars 2025. Here’s the run down of what won and what didn’t.

Well, the Oscars has happened again, and perhaps now we can all get back to normal for a while.

This year’s statuette season was interesting enough given that there was no clear frontrunner like last year, when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer dominated the awards race from start to finish. Still, set against the backdrop of the the hugely destructive Californian wildfires, it still all seemed a little superfluous at times. Meanwhile, The Brutalist director Brady Corbet provided an insight into the state of the non-blockbuster film business when he revealed that not being paid for being on a months-long awards trail meant he was living hand to mouth.

Still, fancy garments were donned and some statuettes were duly dished out and the 2025 Oscars.

After a chaotic and, at times unpredictable awards season, it all came down to this –– the big show. Hosted by Conan O'Brien, the 97th Academy Awards happened Sunday evening in Los Angeles, and Anora emerged as Best Picture.

The Oscars very rarely recognize superhero/comic book movies, but 2024 was a particularly bad year for the genre, so it was hardly surprising when even what would be widely regarded as the best of the bunch, Deadpool and Wolverine, didn't receive any nominations - though some feel the block-busting Marvel Studios team-up should have picked up a few in the technical categories.

Several movies we have covered were nominated in major categories, however, including Dune: Part Two, The Substance, and Wicked (all for Best Picture). In the end, though, it was Anora that wound up taking home surprise wins for Best Picture, Director (Sean Baker) and Best Actress (Mikey Madison).

Saladin Ahmed’s Wolverine gave Logan a new antagonist while mixing in some of his older ones too. In the first issue, Cyber tried to kill Logan, losing so badly that he ran. As Cyber licks his wounds, he’s possessed by an elder being that turns his adamantium gold after calling it "false metal." Later, the same thing happens to Constricter, Donald Pierce, and Lady Deathstrike. Logan is spared thanks to help from Nightcrawler and Laura Kinney (also known as Wolverine) gets to them before the being can possess her (Laura gets adamantium on her bones during one of her resurrections).

Marvel's Wolverine No. 6 is where everything starts to come together. The elder being that possessed Logan’s villains was using them to destroy facilities that could make adamantium and kill anyone who knew how to process it. As the Wolverines finally track their enemies down, Logan picks up...

Alien: Romulus will be getting a sequel sometime in the future, but per producer Michael Pruss, it may not be a direct sequel to Fede Álvarez's 2024 movie. Even though the film made more than $350 million at the box office and was acclaimed by critics, those behind the Alien IP are thinking about maybe taking the franchise in another direction.

Alien: Romulus was one of the outstanding horror movies of 2024. It is also one of the best movies of the Alien universe, a franchise filled with films that aren't always well received by audiences and critics. In the movie, Cailee Spaeny plays Rain Carradine, a miner on a dark star who's offered the opportunity to escape to another planet that's not under the control of the Weyland-Yutani corporation. Rain and her brother Andy only have to join a group of other miners, and find the pods that will allow them to arrive at Yvaga III.

After numerous hit-or-miss movies working their way into the franchise, Alien fans finally hit a home run over the summer thanks to Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus. Grossing a staggering $350.9 million at the global box office, the movie quickly became one of the biggest titles of the year. With a storyline that introduced plenty of fresh faces to the fold and gave audiences a new final girl to cheer for, the Evil Dead helmer’s dip into the otherworldly universe first explored by Ridley Scott was a gargantuan success. The movie was such a profitable, well-received piece of art that its home studio, 20th Century Studios, pressed the “go” button on a sequel just a few months after Romulus roared into theaters. With Álvarez attached to return as the helmer, the title is trucking along under the director’s watchful eye.

Alien: Romulus was a significant success at the box office while also proving to be a big hit with critics, so it wasn't exactly a huge surprise when 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell confirmed that early plans are in pace for a sequel last year.

Though director Fede Álvarez still hasn't officially signed on to return, it sounds like it's close to being a done deal. During a new interview with Empire, the filmmaker confirmed that he is in the process of working on the sequel's script, and promises that the movie will take the classic sci-fi horror franchise "into uncharted waters."

The Alien: Romulus sequel gets an exciting new update from director Fede Alvarez, who teases a change in direction. Coming seven years after Alien: Covenant, the latest installment in the Alien franchise follows a young crew as they encounter a Xenomorph aboard a derelict space station. Alien: Romulus reviews were positive from critics and the movie was a box office success, leading to confirmation that Alvarez is in the early stages of working on a sequel.

With Alien: Romulus, director Fede Alvarez aimed to make something that neatly slotted between Alien and Aliens – returning to the original two classics, while also liberally referencing everything from Alien: Resurrection and Prometheus, to the beloved Alien: Isolation video game. As a result, his film brought new characters and variations on the Alien mythology – but was all about capturing that legendary iconography anew.

They’re in talks with Fede Álvarez to return as the director, and it seems as though Asbell recognizes what worked so well the first time. He wants to continue the story of Rain and Andy, the sole survivors played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, and see where their intergalactic journey takes them next.

The reason why Alien: Romulus worked so well is that the audience genuinely cared about the characters. Rain’s fierce protectiveness of her android brother made her easy to root for. Emilia Pérez went into the 82nd Annual Golden Globes with the most film nominations (10), and The Bear topped the television side with five nominations. When the sometimes cringe-worthy, occasionally funny (Nikki Glaser killed it), and mostly uncomfortable ceremony was over, Emilia Pérez emerged as the top film winner while Shōgun was the most-awarded television series.

The Golden Globes voters spread the wins around, with films including The Brutalist, Conclave, A Real Pain, A Different Man, The Substance, I’m Still Here, and Flow going home with trophies. Television wins went to Baby Reindeer, Hacks, The Bear, The Penguin, and True Detective: Night Country.

And the Golden Globes are a wrap. Overall, it was a fast-paced show, with Emilia Pérez, Shogun, Hacks and The Brutalist the night’s big winners. There were some nice surprises, with Sebastian Stan getting an unexpected nod for A Different Man and Demi Moore winning for The Substance. Otherwise, efficiency was the philosophy of the night, although outside of Vin Diesel’s pointed “Hey Dwayne,” there weren’t many memorable moments, with host Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue playing fairly safe outside of one zinger aimed at Ben Affleck that got some decent laughs. After host Jo Koy got into some hot water for a few very mild jokes last year, Glaser avoided anything too controversial. The Golden Globe Awards nominations have brought the usual gripes of snubs and surprises, but in the middle of these, there is a new category that is looking to quash the annual complaints about popular movies missing out on nominations from "snooty" awards panels. This has allowed Marvel Studios’ box office juggernaut Deadpool & Wolverine to sneak itself a place in nominations, but it has some tough competition from ghosts, witches, aliens, and more.

The Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category has been created as one of two honors new to the awards this year, and it includes films that have achieved significant box office success and widespread audience acclaim. To qualify, a film must have grossed at least $150 million worldwide, with a minimum of $100 million from the U.S. market, or have achieved comparable digital streaming viewership.
