The 2022 Emmys ballot for Best Comedy Writing has 195 episode submissions, which means there will be seven nominees. As a reminder, last year’s winner was the pilot of “Hacks”, beating out the pilots of “The Flight Attendant” (Steve Yockey), “Girls5Eva” (Meredith Scardino) and “Ted Lasso”, along with the “PEN15” episode “Play” (Maya Erskine) and the “Ted Lasso”episode “Make Rebecca Great Again”.
Last year, an argument could be made that “Hacks” prevailed due to “Ted Lasso” having two episodes in the category and splitting its own votes. This scenario could repeat as the former only entered its season finale “The One, The Only” by the same three writing champs and “Ted Lasso” submitted both “Rainbow” (Bill Wrubel) and “No Weddings and a Funeral” (Jane Becker).

Grease 2 has long unjustly suffered as a box office bomb and disappointing sequel. It’s actually even better than the classic Grease in many ways, at least when it comes to gender dynamics. Maxwell Caulfield plays Michael Carrington, a new student at Rydell high. He falls in love with Pink Lady Stephanie (Michelle Pfeiffer) who only dates T-Birds. So Michael creates a mysterious biker persona to woo her. Filmmaker Brian Herzlinger (My Date with Drew) assembled director Pat Birch and cast members Caulfield, Adrian Zmed, Leif Green, Christopher McDonald, Alison Price, Maureen Teefy, Liz Sagal and Jean Sagal for a […]

Ever since AMC debuted Mad Men in July of 2007, TV aficionados have learned to keep an eye on what the channel slips onto the air during the dog days. Past summers have brought the likes of Humans and Halt and Catch Fire; the same time frame also brought us Rubicon, because hey, nobody's perfect. This year's contender for possible out-of-left-field Mvp is Feed the Beast: a drama about crime and cuisine starring Jim Sturgess as a coked-up ex-con chef and David Schwimmer as his morose sommelier best friend. Developed...

Paradigm has added Zac Simmons to its roster. The industry veteran has joined the agency's TV Lit department and started work Monday. He'll be based in Paradigm's Beverly Hills office. The literary agent comes from the Kaplan Stahler Agency, where he started in 2007 and worked with a long roster of clients including Adam Hoff and Justin Herber, who were among the 2012 Young and Hungry List, as well as Sons of Anarchy's Liz Sagal, writer-director Rod Holcomb (ER) and Alison McDonald (She Got Problems), the latter of which had her short in development at ABC. Sons Of Anarchy 5×09 – Andare Pescare
Stars: Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior, Kim Coates, Ron Perlman, Tommy Flanagan, Ryan Hurst | Written by Liz Sagal, Kurt Sutter | Directed by Bill Gierhart
**Spoilers Lie Beyond Here**
There’s always a great deal of wheel spinning to be expected of a show like Sons of Anarchy, especially one that has a seven season long-plotted arc. Sometimes things need to be stretched unduly to keep things going, sometimes they don’t. It’s really all dependent on the writers and how they choose to map out everything on its course. So, that’s why it can be simultaneously frustrating and rewarding waiting for a long arc to pay off, and right now, we’re nine episodes in and I can see where my simultaneous frustration and sense of accomplishment stands. It’s right smack dab in the middle.
The frustration lies with Frankie Diamonds’ character.

Sons Of Anarchy 5×04 – Stolen Huffy
Stars: Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior, Kim Coates, Ron Perlman, Tommy Flanagan, Ryan Hurst | Written by Kem Nunn, Liz Sagal, Kurt Sutter | Directed by Paris Barclay
**Spoilers Lie Beyond Here**
When a fairly major character dies or gets killed off on a long running show, especially one such as Sons of Anarchy, there usually isn’t time for grieving. Instead, ‘Stolen Huffy,’ for the most part focuses its gaze on other plot prospects, namely tying up the loose ends of the storyline involving Nero and his brothel getting shut down. That part of the story interests me the most because it opens up the potential endgame for Jax and the gang for Samcro. It’ll be quite a journey getting there because the gang has so much blood and pain in their wake that getting the clear of this hellish mess that they...

Sons Of Anarchy 5×03 – Laying Pipe
Stars: Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior, Kim Coates, Ron Perlman, Tommy Flanagan, Ryan Hurst | Written by Kem Nunn, Liz Sagal, Kurt Sutter | Directed by Adam Arkin
**Spoilers Lie Beyond Here**
It’s not very wise to throw around the word “game-changer, ” especially when most people wouldn’t have the guts to follow through with it. The last time this was warned about “Sons of Anarchy,” we got the magnificent episode, ‘Hands.’ Hell, almost all of season four was a transistional phase, the midway point in Kurt Sutter’s planned seven year series arc. Now, he’s promised a game-changer again, and he’s done this in the biggest way possible: he’s unleashed Damon Pope, and Pope is gnashing his teeth. In the first two episodes of this season, Damon Pope clung to the shadows, while seeking his revenge on Tig for the death of his daughter,...

As if last week's announcement that Bravo had picked up 11 new series and renewed five wasn't enough, the network announces that it has eight new series in development including a scripted series in conjunction with Lionsgate.
"Our upcoming development slate builds on Bravo's commitment to develop a wide variety of programming that reflects the network's pop culture brand and showcases fascinating personalities who are experts at what they do," says Bravo's development VP Eli Lehrer, pictured above with "Top Chef's" Padma Lakshmi.
Currently titled "Face Down," the scripted series with Lionsgate ("The Hunger Games," "Nurse Jackie") follows a male make-up artist on his way to a nervous breakdown as he deals with the pressures of his wealthy and famous clients, the secrets he is privy to as a result, and his relationship problems with his ex-wife and eccentric parents.

After striking out with original comedy Significant Others and the off-network drama Six Feet Under and being used by sister NBC as a dumping ground for canceled scripted series like Quarterlife, Bravo brass had vowed to keep the cable network scripted programming-free. The stance changed in 2009 when, at its upfront presentation, Bravo announced the development of two scripted series, Blueprint and 30 Under 30. Neither got anywhere, but two years later, Bravo is at it again with Face Down, a scripted show about a charming and flawed make-up artist, from Lionsgate TV and creators Liz Sagal and Stephen Kay. Like the two previous original scripted efforts, Face Down adheres to Bravo's core unscripted programming brand of food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture. The network also announced seven more reality series in development. Today's development slate follows Bravo's upfront presentation a week ago where the cable network announced 11 new series pickups (all unscripted) and five renewals.
