Who says 1994 was a classic year for cinema? Netflix begins today to make that argument, curating a release of 17 films that turned 30 this year. The streamer has its list below. I have mine, and with the exception of the seminal Farrelly Brothers-directed Dumb & Dumber with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and Luc Besson’s Leon: The Professional, the film that stars Jean Reno and a sinister Gary Oldman and introduced the world to the outsized talent Natalie Portman, and maybe Ron Howard’s The Paper, there’s a lot missing. How about Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Clear and Present Danger, Sicario, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Interview With the Vampire, Speed, Ed Wood, and the other two films in a starmaking year for Jim Carrey, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. Speed, Once Were Warriors, and Ang Lee...

Yet another link to the original Clerks has been revealed for Clerks III, courtesy of director Kevin Smith. Recently, the anticipated comedy sequel wrapped filming, and now the post-production process is underway. Throughout the shoot, Smith has been keeping his fans updated by posting images and updates about Clerks III. We've previously gotten to see early looks at the returns of Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson), the movie's lead stars.
Now, Smith has shared another photo teasing more of the sequel, and of course, it's a direct reference to the original Clerks. The photo shows Dante and Randal posing in hockey gear with a group of players behind them. We can also see the Quick Stop Groceries sign in the background, suggesting the hockey game is taking place on the roof, as we saw in the original Clerks. In the caption, Smith explains more about the scene and...

Chewlie's gum will be back at the Quick Stop in Kevin Smith's upcoming sequel Clerks III. Written and directed by Smith, the movie is now wrapping up filming after a month-long shoot at the original Quick Stop store in Leonardo, New Jersey. Smith has previously teased his plans to fill Clerks III with Easter eggs and other homages to the original movie which even includes recreating some of the same shots.
Several original characters from Clerks will be appearing in Clerks III, including Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson in the lead roles as Dante Hicks and Randal Graves. In a recent post on Instagram, actor Scott Schiaffo has also teased our first look at the return of the Chewlie's gum salesman seen in the original Clerks. The character, who had a very memorable scene with Dante and his then-girlfriend Veronica (Marilyn Ghigliotti), is apparently still representing Chewlie's in Leonardo after all these years.

The now-shooting story of how Kevin Smith came to make Clerks has added, well, Kevin Smith to its cast.
A new independent film has started shooting, that will tell the story of how Kevin Smith went from behind the counter at a convenience store, to making Clerks and kickstarting his career.
Entitled Shooting Clerks, the project was successfully crowdfunded to the tune of $3,605 earlier this year. Writer/director Christopher Downie is behind it, and the film is described as "an indie underdog story. It's Rocky with cameras".
The cast of the film will feature Ernie O'Donnell, Scott Schiaffo, Vinnie Periera and Betty Broussard. And it's now been confirmed that Kevin Smith is to play a small role in the movie, as a Canadian reporter called Larkin Eve (which is an anagram for Real Kevin). He will also narrate, having long given Shooting Clerks his blessing.
The plan is to have...
