Fresh off the season two finale, Severance has been renewed for a third installment at Apple TV+. The dystopian series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a widower who undergoes a procedure to be “severed” that renders him unable to access his memories at work and vice versa. He works at the mysterious Lumon Industries with Irving (John Turturro), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Helly (Britt Lower), and season two picks up after the team led what is referred to as the “Microdat Uprising.”

Created by Dan Erickson and produced by Ben Stiller, the Apple original series also stars Tramell Tillman, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken and Dichen Lachman; joining the cast in season two are Sarah Bock, Alia Shawkat, Gwendoline Christie, Stefano Carannante, Bob Balaban and Merritt Wever.

Praise Kier, Severance will be returning for a third season.

Apple has renewed the series, which comes from creator, writer and exec producer Dan Erickson and director and exec producer Ben Stiller, as its season two finale, ‘Cold Harbor’, launches on the service today (March 21).

Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed the news in the past few minutes through a social media exchange with Stiller, writing, “Season 3 of Severance available on request.”

All the way back in February 2023, we got the good news that Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne was renewed for a second season. Quinta Brunson is moderating a Q&a about the second season of the drama series. The event, which includes an all-guild screening of the Adam Scott-fronted show, will take place at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on March 22.

Brunson is not directly involved in Severance but is close with Scott, having guest-starred on the revival of Starz’s Party Down that aired in 2023.

Panelists for the event include Ben Stiller, who directs and exec produces the show; creator Dan Erickson; and stars Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Patricia Arquette, Sarah Bock, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Gwendoline Christie.

After its Season 2 renewal in February 2023, Rian Johnson’s and Natasha Lyonne’s Poker Face, the case-of-the-week mystery series, will be back for more sleuthing this year.

Season 1 of the Peacock show featured 10 episodes of Lyonne’s Charlie Cale, a Vegas casino worker whose keen sense of honesty leads to a Columbo-style show and reverse detective format. Johnson, who also has Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in the works with a stacked cast, describes the show as a “howcatchem” versus a “whodunit” which is the format of the Knives Out and Glass Onion films.

Jason Bateman said Matt Damon was such a huge fan of Arrested Development that he wanted to be cast in the movie. Bateman said that's a long shot now, asserting that the project has been shelved indefinitely.

Jason Bateman was blunt when asked about the Arrested Development movie. "I don't think anybody gives a s***," he told Conan O'Brien, asserting that it will never be greenlit. "I think it's done." Bateman's update is disappointing to fans hoping for the adaptation since the 2019 series finale. He confirmed the movie would have double down on the meta commentary. Jason Bateman, who played Michael Bluth on the hilarious show, recently said he was at an award show when Damon pitched himself to appear in a film version. The twist? Damon wanted to play Bluth in a movie-within-the-movie.

The Emmy-winning actor/producer/director made a recent appearance on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, where he revealed that Damon once pitched himself for a cameo in a potential film adaptation of the hit sitcom.

“I remember Matt Damon coming up to me at — I think it was like a Golden Globes or something — and I was so excited to meet him and, and he was a huge fan of Arrested Development,” Bateman recalled of the interaction. “And he was saying, ‘You know, I really think I could play, because I hear you guys are doing the movie, I think I could… can I play you?'”

The much-anticipated second installment of Rian Johnson’s mystery-of-the-week series will debut in spring 2025, Peacock announced on Tuesday. Season 2 will see Natasha Lyonne reprise her starring role as Charlie as she outruns her adversaries in her Plymouth Barracuda, which brings her to a number of mysteries across the country she can’t help but solve.

Exclusive: Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and SNL alum Molly Shannon have signed on to star in Driver’s Ed, the teen road trip comedy from director Bobby Farrelly (Champions) on which we were first to report in December.

Set to enter production in North Carolina in March, with AGC Studios co-producing and fully financing, Driver’s Ed centers on a group of teens who steal their school’s driver’s ed car to go on a road trip to help a high school senior track down his college-freshman girlfriend and win her back.

AGC International launched sales at the European Film Market in Berlin last week, with additional castings to be announced soon. UTA Independent Film Group is co-repping US rights with AGC.

Farrelly — one half of famed comedy filmmaking duo The Farrelly Brothers — will direct from an original screenplay by Thomas Moffett.
