- Ransom Sherman was born on October 15, 1898 in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. He was an actor, known for Winter Meeting (1948), Are You with It? (1948) and Father of the Bride (1961). He died on November 26, 1985 in Henderson, Nevada, USA.
- In 1940, while hosting the "Club Matinee" radio show, Sherman presided over a "rename-the-Morfit" contest, for which a woman won $50 and in the process gave future game show/variety host Garry Moore his professional name. Moore often referred to Sherman in later years as "the man who taught me all I know".
