The isekai anime genre gets a bad reputation, and to be fair, it might be more than justified. Many of the most popular entries in this genre are rather infamous among anime fans, and this is usually because of their perceived lack of quality. Despite these connotations, there are many of these shows that deserve at least some of the praise they've garnered.
From weird reincarnations to lovable losers, some of the most despised isekai are still great examples of the genre. They may not feature award-winning writing and can involve some rather problematic tropes, but they're not nearly as bad as the haters make them out to be. Most importantly, they tend to perfectly illustrate the fun inherent in the isekai genre, even if that means reveling in some of its excesses.

The isekai genre is very popular, not to mention successful, but it isn't always beloved. For as big as some entries in the genre have gotten, many of these are rather criticized by those who don't quite like how ubiquitous reincarnation anime have gotten. Thankfully, there are some isekai works that are consistently incredible examples of the genre, both to fans and critics.
Avoiding the traps of the isekai genre, these anime are must-watch shows through and through. This is largely due to them not being strung along for multiple seasons, with the best of these being more concise works. Regardless of their length, these isekai are fantastic anime from start to finish, especially compared to other isekai.

Bibble, the lovable puffball friend of Barbie's Elina, made his film debut in 2001 and has appeared in several Barbie movies, stealing the hearts of viewers with his cuteness. He played a supporting role in the Fairytopia series, offering emotional support to Barbie as she overcomes obstacles and insecurities in her adventures. While Bibble did not appear in Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, there's a possibility of a cameo in a sequel, as the door is open for more possibilities and Gerwig's film often references obscure aspects of the franchise.
The magical puffball Bibble was introduced long before Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, and he plays an important role in Barbie's adventures in Fairytopia. Making her film debut in 2001's Barbie in the Nutcracker, the legendary toy has appeared in countless films of the animated variety before finally coming to the big screen in 2023's smash hit Barbie. Though she is typically the star of the show,...

Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper marked the first animated Barbie film to be a musical, as it featured multiple songs sung by the characters. Mattel's Barbie doll is one of the world's most popular toys, and before the live-action Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie was developed, a series of animated Barbie movies was released throughout the 2000s with Kelly Sheridan voicing almost all of the characters portrayed by Barbie (though she didn't sing the musical's songs). Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper is an adaptation of Mark Twain's novel The Prince and the Pauper, and it features characters in Mattel's Barbie universe.
While the animated movies are geared towards children, Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper received positive reviews by adult critics, and renowned comedic actor Martin Short joined the cast as Preminger, the movie's villain. As the first musical in the animated Barbie series,...

The Winchesters fans are continuing to demand that The CW renew the Supernatural prequel series, which follows the parents of Sam and Dean Winchester in their younger years. The series premiered last year on The CW, right in the middle of a whirlwind of cancelations that came as the result of the network changing hands. Their new primary owner Nexstar has revealed that they only intend to keep a very small number of the current slate of scripted series, and All American and Walker have already taken two of those slots.
The #RenewTheWinchesters campaign on Twitter began in early April, a month after The CW aired the season 1 finale. During that time, The CW was stalling on announcing the future of the series, but the situation has only worsened from there. This week, the network canceled the Walker prequel Walker: Independence, reigniting fan fears that The Winchesters is in trouble,...
