Jason Stathamis a safe pair of fast hands when it comes to delivering the action, and audiences have been rediscovering one of his most underrated movies thanks to free streaming. Best known for the likes of the Fast and Furious franchise, The Expendables, The Mechanic, and The Beekeeper (which is now getting a sequel), many Statham fans slept on the 2012 outing Safe. Thankfully, that’s all changed, with the movie now entering the streaming charts.
Directed by Boaz Yakin, who is best known for helming Remember the Titans and writing the likes of Now You See Me and The Harder They Fall, Safe finds The Stath fighting one of his hardest battles as he faces off with the Russian mafia, the Chinese Triads, and a group of corrupt NYPD officers all at once. It is several months since one of Jason Statham's most underrated action movies landed on free streaming, and now it is heading back up the Tubi chart yet again. Statham’s brand of loud, brash, and brutal action movie has found a perfect home on free streaming charts with movies like The Mechanic, Parker, and many others appearing time and time again. Now it is the turn of 2012 movie Safe to kick its way into the Tubi Top 10.
Statham has stuck his battered and bruised fingers in many pies in the last decade, from franchises like The Expendables and Fast & Furious, to his own vehicles such as The Beekeeper and his upcoming A Working Man. While audiences usually cannot get enough of the British actor, critics have always been a little more skeptical about the films he leads. Safe is one of the rare occasions that audiences and...

With every year comes difficult decisions for networks and streamers alike to either hold on to their series or let them go.
2025 is expected to see several beloved series coming to an end, including “Bel-Air,” “Billy the Kid” and “Power Book IV: Force,” among others. Some of Netflix’s biggest and longest running shows are also coming to a close this year, including “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game” and “Big Mouth.”

Joe Proctor was a major character on the Starz crime drama series, Power, and his death came as a shock to viewers and his actor, Jerry Ferrara, has long had thoughts about his character's exit from the show. Power is filled with an ensemble cast of characters who are all vying for one form or another of what the title of the show professes. Whether it's by striving for their own glory or riding the coat tails of powerful figures like Ghost (Omari Hardwick) or Tommy (Joseph Sikora), everyone wants a piece of the power pie.
One of the best of these characters in Power is Joe Proctor, the talented and striving defense attorney for Ghost who also served as a pseudo-consigliere. [This story contains spoilers from the Power Book II: Ghost series finale.]
On the very first episode of Power created by Courtney Kemp and executive produced by rapper-turned-tv mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson back in June 2014, there was no way of knowing that the kid in the nice penthouse apartment asking his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) if his father James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), who spoke fluent Spanish, could “hook up” his Spanish homework as she served breakfast was on his way to becoming a drug kingpin. At that point, the young Tariq didn’t even know his father was himself a kingpin known on the streets as Ghost (Hardwick). And that his mother also knew. Michael Rainey Jr. was just a few months from turning 14. Now a decade later, just over a week after turning 24, he’s closed out another series.
When Power Book II: Ghost premiered Sept. 6, 2020, the pandemic had put the whole country and world on a life-turning timeout.

After six acclaimed seasons, Power came to an end in 2020 by resolving its season-long whodunit premise. Created by Courtney A. Kemp in collaboration with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Power is a crime drama that centers on James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), the smart, smooth-talking drug dealer-turned-nightclub-owner who isn't afraid to be a little ruthless. Known by the alias "Ghost," James struggles to balance his business endeavors with the needs of his family. Ghost's wife, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), and their three kids namely Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) don't always have the best relationships with James, as the finale proves.
Power's cast of characters is rounded out by Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), Ghost's best friend, and Angela Valdes (Lela Loren), James' enduring love interest. All of these principal characters and a few others, like 50 Cent's Kanan come into play in the 15-episode final season of Power. At the beginning of the sixth outing,...

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
After four short seasons, Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost is officially over following tonight’s series finale titled “Ghost in the Machine.” This won’t be a recap of the episode as we will be breaking all that down tomorrow with two of the show’s biggest stars, but rather it’s to discuss Tariq St. Patrick’s (Michael Rainey Jr.) Marvel moment, if you will, at the end of the episode following the credits.
Baby Ghost, as Tariq is often referred to, lives to see another day and with that, there was a tease that more Power is ahead. That says to me they can continue telling stories through Tariq in a new show set in present day. Add to that the upcoming series finale of Power Book IV: Force,...

The Power universe is set to introduce its fourth spinoff following the main show, and while I'm happy Tommy and Ghost will share the spotlight, it's not the reunion I wanted. After an impressive six seasons, Power wrapped up its main story, and despite not everyone being a fan of the conclusion, the franchise continued its narrative through multiple spinoffs. Kanan was given a prequel series due to the character's popularity, while both Tariq and Tommy starred in their own shows; however, both Power Book: Ghost and Force are ending to make way for a new series, Power: Origins.
Origins will focus on Tommy and Ghost's lives before the events of the original series, meaning the franchise's two most popular characters will once again be the focal point of the franchise. It's a bit of a gamble canceling two popular shows to make way for a new one, but I'm...

Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson is laughing off claims that his massive Power franchise was ripped off from a former drug kingpin’s life story.

When you think about the Power Universe and its vast and varied characters, the ones who come to mind first are usually the big players.
Ghost. Tommy. Kanan. Tariq.
A series of men known by one name alone who shaped this Universe and made it into what it is today.
But for every big player, there's someone else beside them, a sidekick, if you will. Or better yet, a partner. Someone who helped them succeed and, for some, caused their eventual downfall.
There are many duos across the original Power and the three spinoffs currently airing, and we decided to look at some of the very best.

The Power universe has expanded with several successful spinoffs, including Raising Kanan. Raising Kanan proves that prequels set in the Power universe work well by deepening existing characters and building out the world. The Ghost and Tommy prequel, Power Book V: Origins, could be even better than Raising Kanan because it centers on two of the franchise's most compelling characters.
Although the original Power aired its finale in 2020, I'm excited to return to the crime drama's world from yet another angle in an upcoming Ghost and Tommy prequel and another Power "Book" show reaffirms my optimistic outlook. Created and produced by Courtney A. Kemp, in collaboration with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Power landed on Starz back in 2014 and, ultimately, ran for six successful seasons. While Power's cast of characters expanded as the series continued, the show mainly focused on James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a ruthless dealer who goes by the alias Ghost.

Power Book IV: Force's cancellation is part of the Starz cost-cutting effort, hinting at concerns about the franchise's future. Power Book IV: Force's cancellation is reminiscent of Starz ending Hightown after season 3. Despite the cancellation, there's still hope for closure with Power Book IV: Force season 3.

The upcoming third season of “Power Book IV: Force” will be its last, according to star Joseph Sikora. But the actor, who leads the show as Tommy Egan, also seems to be teasing that a new project could come to the “Power” universe soon.
With “Power Book II: Ghost” having just entered its fourth and final season, the only current “Power” series continuing at Starz is “Book III: Raising Kanan,” which was renewed for a fifth season in March. (The original “Power” concluded in 2020.) However, a new prequel series titled “Origins” was also set up at the cabler in March following the announcement that “Force” showrunner Gary Lennon had extended his deal with Lionsgate Television to continue working on the franchise.
In a video posted across Starz, ‘Power’ and Sikora’s Instagram pages, Sikora said, “When Gary Lennon and the other writers and I were mapping out our third season,...

Starz is Power-ing down a bit, ending another installment in the long-running crime drama franchise. The upcoming third season of Power Book IV: Force will be its last, TVLine has confirmed.
There is some good news, however — showrunner and executive producer Gary Lennon was given enough notice to craft a proper ending, so while fans may not want the show to end, at least they can take solace in knowing it won’t conclude on a cliffhanger.

Starz’s Power Book IV: Force will conclude following the drama’s third season which is currently in production in Chicago. It’s lights out for Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and the gang but that doesn’t mean their stories are over.
As Deadline reported in March, Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive. The plan was implemented immediately as Starz announced the next day the development of a new prequel series Origin, following the Ghost (Omari Hardwick in the flagship series) and Tommy during their early years. The new show is similar to Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which centers on Power’s favorite foe, Kanan Stark (played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) during his younger years.

Power fans, rejoice! Power Book III: Raising Kanan is coming back for a fifth season.
Starz has given the prequel series an early renewal following its February Season 3 finale. Season 4 is currently in production in New York. The news arrives shortly after the announcement the network’s focus has shifted to creating new spinoffs versus current seasons running too long to save costs and the news that Power Book II: Ghost will be ending after four seasons.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan explores the early life of everyone’s favorite villain Kanan Stark, originally played by 50 Cent in the flagship series and shows his evolution from naive teenager to cutthroat villain. Season 3 saw an epic showdown between Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and Raq (Patina Miller), resulting in a couple of surprise deaths and the return of a fan-favorite character. When Power touched down on Starz 10 years ago, it was clear the premium cabler had found a big hit.
After a decade on the air, the main show is over, three spinoffs are on the air, and a fourth is on the way.
Power: Origins scored a formal pickup this week, and the concept is sure to get fans talking.
The series delves into the earlier years of Ghost and Tommy, played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the original series.
Hardwick’s journey as Ghost concluded in 2020 with the end of the original series, while Sikora continues to play Tommy in the sequel series Power Book IV: Force.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Hardwick and Sikora are involved in the prequel in any capacity, but we would certainly enjoy their narration if the story allows for it.

The end is in sight for Power Book II: Ghost.
A day after unveiling plans for a prequel series tracing the origins of Ghost and Tommy (Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora), Starz revealed that the second series in the Power franchise will come to a conclusion with its upcoming fourth season.
The final season will be split into two parts, with the first arriving Friday, June 7, followed by the second half starting Friday, Sept. 6. The show’s June debut is tied to the 10th anniversary of the debut of the flagship series in the Power franchise.
“This explosive season of Ghost is a fitting crescendo in a decade of an immensely popular franchise — fans will not be disappointed,” said Kathryn Busby, president of programming at Starz. “While this marks the conclusion of one chapter, our commitment to the Power universe endures with more compelling storytelling on the horizon.

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

The Power universe keeps expanding as Deadline reveals that a new spinoff called Power: Origins is in the works at Starz. As the title suggests, the new spin-off will trace the origins of two of Power's most popular characters, Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora). The new show will follow a Young Ghost and Tommy, setting up their meeting and eventual development into the characters from the original shows. The show is akin to what the universe is doing with another character from the show, Kanan Stark in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Starz is eyeing a further expansion of its Power franchise — this one a prequel featuring two of the key characters in the original series.

Ghost and Tommy are getting their own “Power” origins story. As Starz continues to span the “Power” universe into multiple series, the network is ready to announce the official fourth spinoff. The network confirmed Wednesday that it is developing the “Power” prequel series “Origins,” which will follow the beginning story of characters Ghost and Tommy, played in the original “Power” by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Sascha Penn (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) will serve as the executive producer for “Origins,” which comes from Lionsgate TV. (It’s unclear whether it will actually be called “Power Book V: Origins.”)
The first “Power,” which debuted in 2014, starred Hardwick as James St. Patrick, a nightlife entrepreneur who is also a massively successful cocaine distributor known on the streets as “Ghost.” He rules that empore alongside his childhood friend Tommy, played by Sikora.

Starz is expanding the Power Universe again with a prequel spinoff series that will reunite Ghost and Tommy.

Created by Robert Munic, Power Book IV: Force is the third TV spin-off in the Power universe. Set after the events depicted in the acclaimed Starz original crime drama, the story concerns Tommy Egan, the best friend and business partner of series one protagonist, James St. Patrick, aka Ghost (Omari Hardwick). As James attempts to overcome his drug conviction and distance himself from his past, he is forced to relocate from New York to Chicago and attempts to establish himself in a new city.
With Power Book IV: Force Season 2 wrapping in November 2023 and Starz recently renewing Season 3 for an anticipated 2025 release, now is an ideal time to get familiar with the cast of characters in the acclaimed crime drama. While some well-known characters from the Power universe crossover in the spin-off, Book IV also boasts a new crop of characters that fans of the series will meet for the first time.

Power Book V: Influence was canceled by Starz due to the network's shift towards producing more female-driven content, despite the popularity of the Power franchise. The cancellation may also be attributed to the conclusion of Rashad Tate's character arc in Power Book II: Ghost, making Power Book V unnecessary. Fans are left wondering about the future of the Power franchise, with rumors of a potential London-set spin-off, although no official announcements have been made.
