She debuted as a stage assistant to Xuxa's TV show Xou da Xuxa (1988) in the group known as Paquitas, where she was nicknamed "Pituxa Pastel" by Xuxa herself. Originally stage assistants, they were later made a girl band and released two top-selling albums. In her group were also Juliana Baroni and Bianca Rinaldi, her friends who also became professional actresses.

She and Marcello Novaes are parents of Pedro Novaes, born 1997.

She has 6 siblings including Eduardo, Luiz Carlos and Paulo.

Her daughter Stella was born on January 20th 2011 in Rio de Janeiro. Stella's father is Lucas Loureiro.

She started acting in amateur theater in her school, Sagrado Coração de Maria in 1985, before she was cast in Xou da Xuxa (1988).

She was cast in her breakthrough role of Babalu in Four Lives, Four Loves (1994) after Adriana Esteves dropped out from the part. The character was made iconic and she became a symbol of the Rede Globo telenovelas from the 90s.

She filmed her scenes in The King of the Cattle (1996) while pregnant with her first son, Pedro Novaes.

She wrote, produced, directed and acted in the stage production "O Falcão e o Imperador". She passed on the main role of Jade which went to Giovanna Antonelli in O Clone (2001) for scheduling conflicts with this play.

Back in her time as a "paquita", she was forced to drop out of the group's concert scheduling to study acting. In one occasion, she passed on a trip to Mexico (where Xuxa would perform).

She met Marcelo Novaes while filming Four Lives, Four Loves (1994) with whom she has a son, Pedro Novaes.

Her time as a "paquita" also provided her film debut, Lua de Cristal (1990), and a role in Sonho de Verão (1990), both featuring Xuxa and the Xou da Xuxa (1988) cast.
