Exclusive: J. Alphonse Nicholson (P-Valley) is set for a key recurring role in Lanterns, HBO’s drama series based on the Green Lantern DC comic. He joins leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre and series regular Kelly MacDonald.

The series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Nicholson will play the young version of John Senior.

Cast also includes Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen and Jason Ritter.

The eight-episode Lanterns is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who serves as showrunner, Lindelof and King are co-writing and executive producing. James Hawes is directing the first two episodes and also exec producing.

Nicholson played the series regular role of Lil’ Murda on Starz’s P-Valley.

Grey's Anatomystar Ellen Pompeo has opened up about the pay disparity between herself and former co-star Patrick Dempsey. From the mind of Shonda Rhimes, Grey’s Anatomy debuted in 2005 and quickly became one of the most popular medical dramas on television. On an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast (via Variety), Pompeo recalled asking creator Rhimes for the same salary as Dempsey during contract negotiations. The actor acknowledged that Dempsey was a more recognizable actor when the show first started, having been cast several times in TV pilots with notable appearances on Will & Grace and Once & Again.

Exclusive: Sung Kang, best known for his role as the popular ‘Han Lue’ in Universal’s billion-dollar Fast & Furious franchise, has signed with Buchwald for representation.

Kang most recently reprised his role in Fast X, continuing his journey which began on Justin Lin’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift when Han was believed to have died. Paramount Animation wants to start the weekend by adding some pep to your step with the first single, “Higher Love,” from the forthcoming Smurfs movie. The joyous track hails from Desi Trill and features DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Natania, and Subhi. You can listen to the track by watching the video posted above, which includes new footage of the Smurfs.

"Captain America: Brave New World" doesn't just stick a sequel tease in its end credits, it also includes a "special thanks" to a beloved actor. Is it star Anthony Mackie, or the "Brave New World" Mvp Harrison Ford? Nope, it's someone who doesn't even star in the film. Any guesses?

It's Octavia Spencer, who starred in "Captain America 4" director Julius Onah's previous film "Luce." Speaking to People magazine, Onah revealed why he thanked Spencer alongside his actual family and the Stan Lee Foundation. According to Onah, he may not have directed the movie if she hadn't helped him out. He explained:

Moviegoers had to watch all the credits to see the end-credit scene of the Anthony Mackie-starring film. Close to the end, Onah included the Oscar-winning actress in the credits despite Spencer not appearing in the film.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters and, while critics are divided on the latest MCU movie, it does appear to be receiving a far warmer response from fans and regular moviegoers.

Emilia Perez is far from the only controversial Oscar contender, as the history of cinematic awards is rife with upsets and undeserved winners. In 2011, Tate Taylor's The Helpcertainly caused some waves when it received four Academy Award nominations and one win — and now, this problematic period drama seems to be making a comeback on Hulu.

Set in 1960s-era Jackson, Mississippi, The Help examines the lives of African-American domestic laborers by focusing on Aibileen Clark and Minny Jackson, two Black women who work for wealthy white socialites. Their mistreatment at the hands of the socialites is documented by an aspiring writer, Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan, who is also white. Throughout the course of the film, Minny, Aibileen, and other maids in their community face several instances of racism and aggression from their employers: Minny is fired for using an indoor "whites only" bathroom during a dangerous tornado, while another maid is violently arrested.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps invited a live audience and key cast members to U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Home of Space Camp, in Huntsville, Ala., to officially launch the film’s inaugural trailer. The trailer for Paramount's Smurfs reboot is now online, giving us a first glimpse of some footage from the animated/live-action hybrid musical.

The teaser begins with a little Superman nod, before we're introduced to the eponymous blue creatures living happily as ever in Smurf Village. When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is captured by the villainous Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) steps up to lead a rescue mission to the real world.

It’s been a few years since they last blue up, but the Smurfs are back. Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first full trailer for its upcoming musical film “Smurfs,” which features a starry cast that includes Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette.
