Corpulent general purpose actor of the 1930's, 40's and 50's. The son of a chemist, he was trained by Max Reinhardt and made his theatrical debut in 1920. Primarily a stage actor and director, he worked regularly in Berlin theatre and cabaret, sidelining in films as working class types, small-time crooks or affable innkeepers.

He appeared in movies from the beginning of the 30's. As a support actor he took part in a whole string of German productions.

After the war he continued his career successfully till to his death.

The actor Hans Stiebner began his career at the theater where he also director often besides his activity as an actor.
