Cartoons have been entertaining viewers nearly since the dawn of television itself, resulting in a history of colorful characters that have stayed with fans for decades after watching. With the limitless possibilities available within the realm of cartoons, some of the most famous of these characters are in fact dogs. With just as many quirks and traits as their human peers, these cartoon dogs have supported or stood out among their casts and continue to be names that fans talk about and remember fondly.
While not all of these famous cartoon dogs were created with the intent of being on television, they did end up garnering significant portions of their fame and staying power through the medium. Ranging from heroic hounds to mischievous mutts, both hand-drawn and digital, television watchers have come to appreciate a variety of canine characters from a wide range of cartoons. There's a cartoon dog out there for anyone and everyone.

The cult classic miniseries Over the Garden Wall has an incredible story that was brought to life by the performances of its star-studded vocal cast. Over the Garden Wall is a fan-favorite autumn miniseries, and it's still popular years after it debuted. In fact, Over the Garden Wall got a 10th anniversary short, and fans of the miniseries still debate the true meaning of Over the Garden Wall's story and its symbolism a decade later. Over the Garden Wall is often considered perfect for Halloween because of its impressive and cozy animation and its lovable characters, among many other things.
Without its talented vocal cast, however, Over the Garden Wall's characters and story wouldn't have been nearly as timeless. The voice actors involved in the animated miniseries clearly put their hearts and souls into their performances, and it paid off in dividends. Over the Garden Wall also has...

"My wife is not your patient, Doctor, Justin is." An official trailer has debuted for this indie psychological thriller titled Trouble Sleeping, made by the Canadian filmmaker Robert Adetuyi. This has taken years to finally get a release after first unveiling in 2018, but perhaps there's a reason it has taken so long. Just take a look at the trailer below. Tormented by the memories of her late-husband's suicide, a woman's life is further complicated by the arrival of her stepson, who apparently will soon inherit all of his father's wealth. But something else is amiss. The film stars Vanessa Angel, Billy Zane, Rick Otto, Ingrid Eskeland, Kale Clauson, and Fred Stoller. This film looks especially forgettable and bland, it's so obvious what's going on from this trailer you can probably figure out exactly how it's going to end. Skip this one - it's not worth it. Here's the official trailer...

I’m a huge “Piranha” fan, and I’ll watch anything (anything that is!) pertaining to lake horror. Hockey masked killers, prehistoric monsters, government altered mutated fish, toxic waste mutated marine life and even zombies, are all enhanced when set at a lake. It’s in a more confined space than the ocean, there’s usually plenty of expendable characters getting their vacation on to up the body count, and it makes one think twice that fresh water is absolutely, positively safe.

TV catchphrases can be annoying, but not necessarily taunting. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Today's lesson in the high bar imposed on defamation plaintiffs comes from Kenny Kramer, the inspiration for the eccentric character of Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld. Kramer sued former series staff writer Fred Stoller and Skyhorse Publishing over a description of what happened on one of Kramer's reality bus tours in New York. HBO has begun developing the new hour-long series Laughs Unlimited—a show that is somehow not one of the network's many '80s-era stand-up cavalcades featuring Elayne Boosler, Fred Stoller, and myriad people in bloused-out rayon shirts, but something even less funny. The ironically titled drama comes from Rampart and The Messenger director Oren Moverman and Jarhead author Anthony Swofford, and is well within their brutal wheelhouses: It concerns "an Army medic who returns from serving a tour in Afghanistan only to find that her husband is divorcing her and taking custody of their daughter." One thing that hasn’t wavered, however, is the audience support for Michel Hazanavicius’s “The Artist,” which started charming patrons back at Cannes. The film’s latest conquest was The 2011 Austin Film Festival, which took home the Audience Award for the Out-of-Competition category at this year’s fest.
Totally understandable. It is an absolute crowd pleaser, and I expect it to play extremely well with Academy members this season. Well enough to win the Best Picture prize? Only time will tell.

Chris Rock is the latest comedian to visit "The Cat Ranch" to talk to Marc Maron about his life in comedy on the podcast "Wtf." In a clip from the episode that will be released on Thursday, Rock talks about his early days doing stand-up in an environment when Eddie Murphy was one of the most established black comedians in a time when white comedians dominated the field.
When Murphy was announced as the host of next Academy Awards ceremony, many questioned the choice. Despite being one of the most popular stand-up comedians of the '80s, Murphy has rarely performed live over the last two decades. In this teaser clip on "Wtf," Rock and Maron discuss a time when Murphy was a prominent comedian, and how far his career has shifted from its stand-up roots.

Film review: 'Wilbur Falls'
A Massachusetts native and USC film school grad, writer-director Juliane Glantz shows much enthusiasm in her feature debut, charging ahead with an overwrought, genre-bending teen potboiler that has a fashionable, anything-goes agenda.
Screened recently at the Nortel Palm Springs International Film Festival, "Wilbur Falls" is headlined by Danny Aiello and Sally Kirkland as small-town eccentrics whose revenge-minded daughter (Shanee Edwards) vamps her way into serious trouble just before graduating high school.
The most honored and busy among her schoolmates, Renata (Edwards) never forgets her public humiliation as a freshman, when an erotic drawing of hers is reproduced and displayed by treacherous friends. Reduced to a hysterical mess and needing the comfort of her father Phillip (Aiello), the affable but overprotective town sheriff, Renata evolves into a noir virgin with a superior attitude.
Renata's mother (Kirkland) is a New Age floozy whom Phillip adores, but they are only two influences on Renata. Her best friend Arne (Jeff Daurey) encourages her to exact long-overdue payback from brainless stud Jeffrey (Charlie Newmark). Luring him to her favorite frog pond, Renata pulls a nasty prank resulting in Jeffrey's unintended demise.
When the body disappears, Renata and Arne keep mum as locals believe Jeffrey has disappeared. Alas, Phillip is no longer sheriff, and his replacement, T-Bone David Anthony Marshall), arrogantly and menacingly lurks while attempting to solve the mystery.
Complications set in when the deceased's pregnant girlfriend Jodi (Cherilyn Hayres) turns to Renata for help getting an abortion. They travel to the city and visit Renata's wild older sister Katherine (Suzanne Cryer), who has goo-goo eyes for slick gangster Johnny Handsome (Fred Stoller). Jodi and Renata talk about sex, with the former's enthusiasm turning on the latter, and they fall into bed together.
After the brief lesbian interlude, and because of newsworthy abortion protesters, they cause a panic back home, and Renata defiantly claims to have been pregnant with Jeffrey's child. From unused condoms by the pond to the surprise of what happened to Jeffrey's body, the film lurches into overheated melodrama as T-Bone and the state police begin looking for a murderer.
The performances are rarely subtle or convincing, though Edwards, Aiello, Kirkland and Hayres work hard. Glantz's scenario is too scattershot, and the combination of serious and satirical elements is handled clumsily.
