Kamala Harris has earned enough delegate votes to become the Democratic presidential nominee, as the party conducts a virtual roll call in advance of the convention in Chicago later this month.
Jaime Harrison made the announcement during a virtual event with Harris supporters.
“I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of the Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” Harrison said on the call.
Harris, who also joined the call, said that she will officially accept the nomination next week.
“It’s not going to be easy, but we’re going to get this done,” she told supporters.

Shocked politicians, celebrities, tons of Trump supporters, and those whose views don’t match Donald Trump are erupting online in the wake of the Pennsylvania shooting incident.
Trump appears to be ok, judging from a post by his son, Don Jr., and his defiant, fist-waving exit from the stage in the aftermath of the incident.
Former President Trump’s campaign said in a statement that he was “fine.”
“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
Some early reactions:

At one point in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, one of the principal characters announces, “This is some dysfunctional shit!” With self-aware comments like that, who needs film critics? Not that reviews will matter to the devoted fans of the action-comedy buddy cop franchise that began three decades ago and whose antecedents date as far back as 1974’s Freebie and the Bean and Busting (feel free to cite even earlier ones). It’s a durable concept, even if this fourth installment feels more than a little strained.
Watching Will Smith’s Mike and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus go through their familiar comedic bickering routines has become like spending an evening with a long-married couple whose constant sniping has grown wearisome. In the opening scene, Mike chides Marcus for his addiction to junk food and you think, “Again?”
His concern proves apt, however, since not long afterward, while frenziedly dancing at Mike’s wedding,...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for the season finale of “The Girls on the Bus.”]
In the Season 1 finale of Max’s “Girls on the Bus,” Sadie (Melissa Benoist) has a tense conversation with Governor Walker (Hettienne Park) that had been building all season. And that’s hardly all.
Walker is a pretty obvious stand-in for Hillary Clinton in the show’s version of a Democratic presidential primary. In Episode 10, written by co-creator Amy Chozick, Walker has just learned that, despite being the most experienced and likely best person for the job, she was going to fall short of getting the necessary delegates to clench the nomination for president. Political journo Sadie comes to speak to Gov. Walker while she’s drowning her sorrows on a campaign bus, and apologizes for how her coverage of her has hurt her over the years — but also lay out her own frustrations about the enigma that is the governor.

Updated: The rematch is on.
Joe Biden and Donald Trump each clinched their party’s presidential nominations, after their amassed a majority of delegates in Tuesday’s primaries.
Biden crossed the 1,968 delegates needed for the Democratic nomination with his win of the Georgia primary, according to network projections.
Donald Trump passed the 1,215 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination after he was projected to win the Washington state primary.
While the milestone was covered across cable news tonight, the Biden vs. Trump rematch has been clear for some time — given the polls and their victories in early primaries.
Biden faced nominal opposition from Marianne Williamson and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who have not managed to perform in the double digits in the primary contests so far. After Super Tuesday, Phillips dropped out and endorsed Biden.

The Democrat who delivered President Joe Biden his first defeat of the 2024 primary cycle wasn’t millionaire Congressman Dean Phillips or new age gadfly Marianne Williamson. It was a previously obscure Baltimore businessman with a name out of an Aaron Sorkin script: Jason Palmer.
Palmer shocked the incumbent, and denied the president a clean sweep on Super Tuesday, by winning the caucus in American Samoa. In so doing, his shoestring campaign — which he likens to a “lean startup” — matched the 2020 Democratic primary performance of Mike Bloomberg, who spent colossal $1 billion on his vanity presidential bid.

President Joe Biden faced his first defeat in the Democratic presidential primaries, courtesy of a previously unknown candidate, venture capitalist Jason Palmer.
Palmer, who hails from Baltimore, announced his gratitude and triumph via X: “Honored to announce my victory in the American Samoa presidential primary. Thank you to the incredible community for your support. This win is a testament to the power of our voices. Together, we can rebuild the American Dream and shape a brighter future for all.”
While Palmer secured the win in the minute U.S. territory, where the election typically sees participation from fewer than 100 individuals, it is unlikely to impede Biden’s commanding march toward securing the Democratic nomination.
Palmer’s campaign, which relied on a virtual presence rather than an in-person visit to the island, involved three full-time campaign staffers. Palmer expressed surprise at his victory in an interview with CNN and attributed his...

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn) has dropped his challenge to President Joe Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Phillips failed to gain traction in caucuses and primaries in his long shot bid. In the Minnesota primary on Tuesday, he drew just 7.8% of the vote in his home state, behind the number of voters choosing “uncommitted,” which garnered about 19%. Biden won the state with more than 70% of the vote.
He wrote on X/Twitter, “I ran for Congress in 2018 to resist Donald Trump, I was trapped in the Capitol in 2021 because of Donald Trump, and I ran for President in 2024 to resist Donald Trump again – because Americans were demanding an alternative, and democracy demands options. But it is clear that alternative is not me. And it is clear that Joe Biden is Our candidate and Our opportunity to demonstrate what type of country America is and intends to be.

The suspense this Super Tuesday may be in watching how all of the networks try to make the night suspenseful.
Some 16 states and one territory will vote: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. A Democratic caucus also is being held in American Samoa, and Iowa Democrats also will reveal their results.
But with Joe Biden and Donald Trump on their way to a rematch in the 2024 presidential election, coverage Tuesday will focus on margins of victory, when each candidate will clinch their nomination and what’s next from now until Election Day. There also will be attention to down-ballot races, including California’s Senate primary to fill the seat long held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-ca).

Update, 5:53 a.m. Pt, Wednesday: The “uncommitted” vote in Michigan’s Democratic primary garnered about 13.2% of the vote, while President Joe Biden received more than 81%, according to the latest results.
As huge of a victory as that is, the protest campaign to cast ballots for “uncommitted” drew more than 100,000 votes.
While progressives and moderates debate the significance of the protest vote — largely of Biden’s support for Israel in the war in Gaza — overlooked is what happened further down the ballot. Marianne Williamson, the self-help figure who had dropped out of the race, actually got more votes that Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who was still in. She announced that she was “unsuspending” her campaign, even though she and Phillips were in the low single digits — also were beaten by the “uncommitted” vote.
In the GOP primary, Nikki Haley was drawing about 27% to Donald Trump’s 68%. Although Haley’s share...

Update: President Joe Biden arrived in Los Angeles this afternoon as part of a campaign swing.
As the results overwhelming came in for the incumbent in the South Carolina Democratic primary this evening, the first stop for Biden out on the West Coast is a campaign meeting in Bel Air, according to a White House pool report.
A source said that the meeting was at the home of George Lucas. Before the Star Wars creator bought the house in 2017, the residence was owned by H. Ross Perot Jr. and before that, by Freddy DeMann, the producer and music executive who was the co-founder of Maverick Records, according to Variety’s reports on the real estate transactions.
Lucas’ wife, Mellody Hobson, has been a major donor to Biden’s re-election campaign. Her contributions include $125,000 to the Biden Action Fund, a joint fundraising committee, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign will try to steal some of the media attention on New Hampshire on Tuesday with a Northern Virginia rally focused on the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s repeal of Roe vs. Wade.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who represents a suburban Minneapolis congressional district, launched a challenge to President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination.
His announcement has been expected for weeks, as Phillips, 54, warns that Biden’s age and low approval mean that he very likely may lose to Donald Trump next year. Trump has a wide lead against the GOP field.
In an interview with CBS News’ Robert Costa on CBS Mornings, Phillips said that he thinks Biden has “done a spectacular job for our country, but it is not about the past. This is an election about the future.”
“I will not sit still, I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we going to be facing an emergency next November,” he said.
In the interview and in his campaign video, Phillips said that now was the time to “pass the torch” to a new generation.

Dean Phillips — liquor heir, gelato prince, step-grandson of the advice columnist Dear Abby, and Democratic congressman from Minnesota — is challenging Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination for president. Phillips filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.
Phillips will officially announce in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Friday, which is the deadline to appear on the primary ballot in the state. To call his candidacy a longshot is an understatement, but Phillips has a good shot of winning the Democratic primary in New Hampshire — because Biden will not appear on the ballot.

The Culpo sisters have always loved putting on shows together. "We would put on synchronized dance routines," Olivia Culpo tells Popsugar, recalling her and her sisters' childhood love of showmanship. "Aurora was always in the middle."
Aurora, the oldest, was "the boss and the scariest, and everything she said went. She was definitely the ringleader," Olivia, now 31, remembers. "Sophie was the baby and just really cute and charming, and I was just stupid me."
Culpo, most well-known for being a model, is taking a walk down memory lane in a karaoke room in a swanky club at Las Vegas's Jbl Fest. She's sitting shoulder to shoulder with her sisters, who are all matching in chic black ensembles. They also speak in sync, almost as if there's a little bit of telepathy flowing between them. "There was always a little competition in the limelight," Sophia, now 26, agrees, echoing her big sister.

Lovato’s authenticity and vulnerability will take center stage during the four-day event at Orlando’s Walt DisneyWorld Resort as she joins Exchange Events founder Jerry Schwab for the “Not So Late Show” event on November 14. She promises to offer an engaging and enlightening conversation to inspire self-discovery, growth, and transformation — delivered directly and in-person to all audience members.
“Perhaps no one better embodies this year’s theme — Discover Who You Are Meant to Be — than Demi,” Schwab says. “She has been fearless and unapologetic in her own journey of self-discovery, and I can’t wait for our audience to learn more about...

“Titanic” actress and SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee member Frances Fisher called for the inclusion of actors in sharing the profits of TV and films with studios and streaming companies.
“We built those studios. Our labor has given the CEOs the millions of dollars that they take home every year, and we get nothing,” Fisher told TheWrap in an interview you can watch below.

Fisher also said the business model for TV shows and films has to make room for writers and actors, especially in terms of streaming residuals.
“The business model has changed so much that it’s left writers and actors behind because the streaming residuals formula is so pitiful,” Fisher told TheWrap.

It’s Day 5 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 79 of the WGA strike.
Rachel McAdams, The Simpsons’ James L. Brooks, Succession duo Alan Ruck and Justine Lupe, Jaleel White, who played Steve Urkel, and spiritual advisor/Presidential candidate Marianne Williamson were some of the broad range of people out on the picket lines across LA.
This comes after the East Coast represented the striking actors and writers with the likes of Bette Midler and Kevin Bacon.
Mean Girls star Rachel McAdams, who recently starred in Fxx comedy Dave, was walking the picket line outside of Netflix. She told Deadline, “I’m out here to support the unions. I think what they’re asking for is totally within reason.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also known as Rfk Jr., is preparing himself for the 2024 presidential election.
The 69-year-old environmental lawyer took to social media to show off his strength and flaunt his toned physique, wearing denim Levis and gray sneakers. In the video, he is seen doing push-ups outdoors as the cameraman says, “That’s a fit boy.”
“Getting in shape for my debates with President Biden!” he began his post. “As President, I will restore America as the global example of health and well-being. Not through pills or syringes, but through character and self-discipline. And I will continue to walk the walk and lead by example.”
He then went on to explain that “Americans gained an average of 29 pounds during Covid lockdowns.”
Rfk Jr., known for his extreme anti-vaccine positions, said he will help citizens get back in shape by encouraging them to “exercise, eat well and fortify their immune systems.

James Van Der Beek has became the talk of Fox News after posting a viral rant on TikTok in which he slammed the Democratic National Committe (DNC) for not planning to host a debate between Joe Biden and his Democratic opponents once his bid for presidential re-election in 2024 is announced (via The Daily Beast). The DNC’s decision has been condemned by both media figures such as Joe Rogan and some of Biden’s Democratic challengers, including Robert F. Kennedy and Marianne Williamson.
Fox News’ Steve Doocy, who co-anchors the network’s morning show “Fox & Friends,” praised Van Der Beek for “ripping into” the DNC, saying, “I watched this video and I was like, ‘This guy deserves to be sitting on a panel analyzing everything that’s going on right now.”

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders may sit at different ends of the spectrum of Democratic politics, but the progressive senator from Vermont is already throwing his weight behind the incumbent’s 2024 reelection bid.
“The last thing this country needs is a Donald Trump or some other right-wing demagogue who is going to try to undermine American democracy or take away a woman’s right to choose, or not address the crisis of gun violence, or racism, sexism or homophobia,” Sanders said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday.

President Joe Biden made the official announcement Tuesday that he is running for reelection.
The announcement came in a three-minute launch video.
“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we were in a battle for the soul of America. And we still are,” Biden says. “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead, we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer. I know what I want the answer to be, and I think you do too. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I am running for reelection.”
The video, coming four years to the day when Biden announced his 2020 bid, opened with images of the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Biden then appears on screen and says, “Freedom — personal freedom is fundamental who we are as Americans. That’s been my work of the first term.

“Saturday Night Live” spoofed the Netflix series, “The Watcher” with a digital parody sketch called “The Looker,” with Amy Schumer, in her third turn as host of the show. Schumer earned big laughs as a mom revealed to have a habit of eating a second meals at night and other behaviors while watching episodes of “Property Brothers.”
The sketch lampooned the Netflix drama series from producer Ryan Murphy about a family that moves into their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey only to be hounded by creepy letters and weird neighbors. Throughout the sketch, “The Looker” creepily reveals the daily activities of the family– James Austin Johnson as the husband, Chloe Fineman as the daughter and Marcello Hernandez as the son–reporting on boring tidbits like Hernandez practicing guitar and the Fineman practicing TikTok dances, then humiliating Schumer with details of her numerous trips to the bathroom and obsession with...

Surprising almost no one except perhaps Kyrie Irving’s crisis PR team, Saturday Night Live voted tonight for the midterm election in its last cold open before Tuesday’s balloting.
“My fellow Americans, this Tuesday, our midterm election will determine the fate of our democracy and let’s just say Big Yikes!” proclaimed James Austin Johnson as President Joe Biden. “I guess the Democrats’ message just isn’t getting through,” the SNL cast featured player added in a mocking replication of Potus’ big Union Station speech of earlier this week as polls show the Big Lie-dominated GOP looking to take back the House and maybe even the Senate.
“Folks, I’m trying like Hell, I promise,” the comedian went on to says as the sometimes disoriented 79-year-old Biden. “I’m on the Peloton every morning tempting fate.”

The story of Alexis Haines’ entanglement with a circle of Los Angeles-area home invaders has been told multiple times over: In the reporting of Nancy Jo Sales, who profiled her for Vanity Fair in 2010; on her own reality show, “Pretty Wild,” which aired on E! in 2010; and in Sofia Coppola’s 2013 film “The Bling Ring,” based on Sales’ work. Now, Haines (formerly Alexis Neiers), along with former associate Nick Norgo (formerly Nick Prugo), attempts to set the record straight in the Netflix documentary series “The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist.”
The three-episode series sheds little light, and bulks out its running time with idle musings on fame that feel warmed over from the early 2010s. It’s not that Haines’ and Norgo’s stories, told with both respective parties’ permission in this doc, don’t have inherent interest: Both of them became entranced by the concept of celebrity and, as...

Bill Maher’s Real Time on HBO this Friday was about waking up to various scenarios and recognizing the hypocrisy around us.
Throughout the show, Maher and guests explored why we don’t take to the streets more to right the wrongs of society. While nothing was decided, ultimately the show is a sign that the narratives of the mainstream media are starting to break down, as more people – most prominently, the truckers in Canada currently in a major blockcade, with more such actions anticipated – decide that they won’t accept the views and dictates of their rulers, owners, leaders or editorializers.
Maher started off the night with a one-on-one interview with Ricky Williams, the former NFL running back and entrepreneur who recently founded the sports-themed weed brand “Highsman.” Williams famously spent a year away from the NFL because of his marijuana use.
“When I entered the NFL, that’s when the nightmare started,...

Spoiler Alert: This piece contains spoilers for the series finale of “Search Party.”
“Search Party” began with a simple premise: When a former college classmate goes missing, Dory Sief (Alia Shawkat) and her cohort of Brooklyn twenty-somethings embark on a mission to find her. Five seasons later, Dory — now a spiritual guru and cult leader — hides in an underground bunker as zombies ravage the streets of New York City.
While “Search Party” has never shied away from bold ideas — the HBO Max show killed off its protagonist-turned-antihero at the end of last season, only for Dory to reawaken 37 seconds later — Season 5 sunk its teeth into completely new territory: Dory escapes a psychiatric facility and teams up with billionaire tech mogul Tunnel Quinn (Jeff Goldblum) to produce “enlightenment pills,” which quickly turn the population into flesh-eating monsters. Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the final series of Search Party, including the finale “Revelation.”
Enlightenment isn’t glorious, but gory and gross look in the series finale of HBO Max’s Search Party.
In the final hours of the dark comedy, created by Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers, Dory (Alia Shawkat) brings about the end of the world, after her quest to spread joy and love in the form of a pill backfires.
In true Search Party fashion, Dory’s intentions to do right by others, and selfishly herself, once again evolve into a much more complicated and fatal scenario that puts everyone around her at risk.
“I hate to say it babe, but you did it again,” Dory’s ever-faithful friend, and brief lover, Portia (Meredith Hagner) says. “Except it’s way worse this time.”

The twisting, turning and unexpected saga of Search Party will reach its final destination when Dory, Drew, Portia and Elliott return in the dark comedy’s last season, which premieres in its entirety on Friday on HBO Max.
From creators Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers, the comedy starring Alia Shawkat took viewers on a wild ride that started with a true crime spin and veered into the realms of legal and psychological thrillers – all while comically handling the existential imperfections of young adult life and morality. Now for its final lap around the course, Search Party taps into big tech, cult ideology, horror and sci-fi to gather all the threads into what Rogers thinks may be a “polarizing” and not-so-tidy finale.

The African American Film Critics Association (Aafca) has selected “The Harder They Fall” as the No. 1 film on their annual top 10 list.
Written and directed by Jeymes Samuel and produced by Jay-Z, the big-budget Netflix western sees Idris Elba, Regina King, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield portray historical Black figures Rufus Buck, Nat Love, Trudy Smith, Stagecoach Mary and Cherokee Bill, respectively.
“Although our top film, ‘The Harder They Fall’ from Netflix is a fictionalized Western,” said Aafca president and co-founder Gil Robertson. “It introduced the world to an incredible array of real-life Black cowboys and cowgirls who helped to transform the West, prompting many to discover the prominent role Black people played in that storied chapter of American history that has been a Hollywood go-to genre.”

When University of Chicago scholars Michael Dawson and Rovana Popoff took a survey of American attitudes in 2000, they found that only four percent of white Americans endorsed black reparations. By 2016, a Marist Poll indicated that the proportion had increased to 15 percent. A 2018 survey taken by Data for Progress discovered that a slight majority of all voters under 45 supported black reparations. An April 2021 Washington Post-ABC News poll reported that close to 30 percent of white Americans now support black reparations.

Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s “Fleishman Is in Trouble” limited series has been officially picked up to series at FX.
First put into development in 2019, the project sees Brodesser-Akner adapting her own critically acclaimed debut novel as a nine-episode limited series. The story centers on recently separated 40-something Toby Fleishman, whose ex-wife, Rachel, disappears, leaving him with the kids and no hint of where she is or whether she plans to return.
Brodesser-Akner will write and executive produce alongside Sarah Timberman, Susannah Grant and Carl Beverly of Timberman/Beverly Productions. The project hails from ABC Signature.
“Fleishman is in Trouble offers an unsparing, modern take on life, love and commitment in Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s terrific debut novel and we are thrilled that she is adapting it as a limited series for FX,” said Gina Balian, president of original programming at FX. “Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Susannah Grant join Taffy on the...

It’s pretty and big and shiny. And depressive British singer-songwriters write evocative songs about it. There’s not much to dislike, unless you are a young witch on TikTok looking to start some shit.
On WitchTok, the area of TikTok where young witches congregate, witches are buzzing about “baby witches” (basically, younger, less experienced witches) who...

Walter Mercado gave almost half the world their daily horoscopes, drawing 120 million Latinx viewers to their televisions every evening. Each of the astrologer’s fans got a personal reading which resonated with them, even though they shared their sign’s message with millions of others. Walter didn’t even have to consult his ephemeris. Mucho Mucho Amor, which can be streamed on Netflix, is named after Walter’s signature closing. Co-directed by Cristina Costantini (Science Fair) and Kareem Tabsch (The Last Resort), and produced by Alex Fumero (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson), it is a loving look at the beloved and revolutionary performer.
Walter was one of the first mainstream androgynous Latin American figures and has become an LGBT icon, the Liberace of astrologers. He was also one of the first astrologers since Jeane Dixon to bring the ancient art to modern audiences. Before Marianne Williamson became...
