European film faces digital hurdles abroad
AMSTERDAM -- Commercial pressures on exhibition screens mean European movies will continue to face an uphill struggle to grow boxoffice outside their home territories despite the promise of digital delivery, Cinema Expo delegates heard here Monday. Delegates attending the first seminar of the annual international trade gathering heard Media Salles scientific adviser Dr. Joachim Wolff argue that opportunity would not be automatic. Said Wolff: "(Large scale) Distributors will always try to have their films in the auditoria from which they expect the highest audience. This rule is irrespective of digitalization."...
