Did movies for kids peak in the 1990s? It's entirely possible. We arrived at this question after sifting through piles of our old VHS tapes to produce a list of the best '90s kids' movies, noting the amount of high-quality entertainment we had to choose from. Make no mistake, this was a hard list to assemble and required more than a few heartbreaking sacrifices. Even cherished Walt Disney productions like "Mulan" and "Tarzan" were left on the outside looking in, which speaks volumes about the last great decade. "Beethoven?" Nope. "Rookie of the Year?" Nadda. "Angels in the Outfield?" Non. The Lindsey Lohan "Parent Trap?" Nein.

Thankfully, the films that made the final cut are genuinely excellent. So, don't get too mad if your favorite children's flicks are nowhere to be found. Chances are, we love them too but had to make room for those that were marginally better.

One of the most underrated ‘90s action dramas, and most underrated performances from Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone is now available to stream on Prime Video. From the director behind Logan and featuring an all-star cast that includes Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, Peter Berg, Janeane Garofalo, and Robert Patrick alongside Stallone, 1997’s Cop Land deserves to be seen by a much wider audience.

During a recent reunion, in honour of the film’s 30th anniversary this month, director Jon Turteltaub and the cast recalled battling with the media giant over the film’s Jamaican accents.

“Cool Runnings” — roughly based on the debut of the Jamaican national bobsleigh team at the 1988 Winter Olympics — initially got its start apart from Disney with a script that featured a lot of “drugs, racism and the characters were getting laid a lot,” actor Rawle D. Lewis revealed in a interview with The Independent.

“I saw it morph into the movie that it is now,” the cast member continued. “It was something that had never been told before – Jamaicans in tights? People were like, ‘How’s this going to go under the Disney umbrella?...

One of Disney’s most beloved sports movies is turning 30. 1993 saw the release of Cool Runnings, the movie that’s based on the story of the first Jamaican bobsled team that competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Oscar winner Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) stars as a nurse who suspects her colleague of murdering patients in Netflix’s The Good Nurse. The dramatic film, which just released a trailer and poster, is based on Charles Graeber’s book The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder and will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Good Nurse will be released in select theaters on October 19, 2022, followed by a premiere on Netflix on October 26.

Graeber’s book delves into the twisted story of nurse Charles Cullen (played by Eddie Redmayne), a serial killer who murdered 40 patients. The drama also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, Malik Yoba, Alix West Lefler, and Kim Dickens.

"He's been killing people - without even touching them." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for a mystery thriller titled The Good Nurse, from Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm. It's premiering at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival first this month, then will be streaming in October on Netflix. A gripping thriller based on true events (which is especially scary), The Good Nurse is directed by Academy Award nominee Tobias Lindholm (for Another Round), written by Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and stars Academy Award winners Jessica Chastain as Amy Loughren and Eddie Redmayne as Charles Cullen, as well as Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, Malik Yoba, Alix West Lefler, and Kim Dickens. What's going on? An infamous caregiver is implicated in the deaths of hundreds of hospital patients. What is the truth? What's really going on, why is he doing this? This looks especially eerie and unsettling, with such a dark performance by Redmayne.

Netflix has a knack for getting a lot of very talented people together in movies that seemingly just wouldn't get made at a traditional studio anymore. Case in point, "The Good Nurse" is a movie that features two Oscar winners in the form of Jessica Chastain ("It Chapter Two") and Eddie Redmayne ("The Theory of Everything") front-and-center in a thriller that is based on true events.

As the title implies, they are nurses working at a hospital but, as it turns out, only one of them is good and the other might actually be very bad. For a movie with such a seemingly innocuous title, the body count certainly stacks up in a hurry here. Let's take a gander, shall we?

Things don't take long to get a little twisted as Chastain's character Amy meets up with Redmayne's Charlie at a coffee shop.

Films which centre around team sports have long been a staple of popular cinema. Often the sport in question is an integral part of the story being told, these films making good use of a sporting event as a way to actualise the drama. Exclusive: Tony-nominee Pascale Armand (Eclipsed), Yolonda Ross (The Chi), Charles Malik Whitfield (Chicago Med), Denise Boutte (Meet The Browns) and Kendrick Cross (Ambitions) will lead Season 2 of AllBlk’s horror anthology series Terror Lake Drive.

From creators Jerry Lamothe and Kajuana S. Marie, Terror Lake Drive follows the terrorized tenants of the fictional Freeman Lake Apartments in Atlanta. Season 2, titled Terror Lake Drive: Single Black Female, takes place two years after the chain of events that haunted the Freeman Lake Apartments in the first season. The inaugural installment followed a single mother from Baltimore who relocates to Atlanta in an attempt to escape her troubled past and starred Shannon Kane, Malik Yoba, Donielle T. Hansley Jr., and Lamman Rucker.

Armand will play Deja, a traveling nurse who has recently completed an assignment in Austin, Texas announces her new assignment at the recently constructed Atlanta University Hospital – much to the dismay of her friends and colleagues.

Peacock has released a trailer for “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” which premieres on Sept. 30.

The four-part UFO docuseries sees Lovato, their friend Matthew and their sister Dallas consult with leading experts, investigate eyewitness encounters, uncover government documents and conduct tests to search for the truth about UFOs. In the trailer, Lovato explains that they already believe in extraterrestrials, calling themself a “UFO experiencer” and recounting a trip to Joshua Tree where they saw a bright light moving erratically through the sky. In “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” they aim to convince their family and friends of the same.

Exclusive: Evelyn Braxton, the matriarch of long-running reality series Braxton Family Values, is cooking up a new show.

Braxton is developing a cooking format with Dorothy Toran and Leslie Farrell’s Lauren Grace Media. Cooking With Ms. E, which is inspired by her upcoming cookbook, will see her give viewers an inside look into one of her favorite places – her kitchen.

The series will also see Braxton joined by a number of guests in the kitchen as she bakes up recipes, including her famous buffins – a cross between a muffin and a biscuit.

Evelyn Braxton is an opera singer, certified life coach and mother of six including hit singer Toni Braxton. She is one of the stars of WEtv’s Braxton Family Values, which recently aired its seventh season.

Lauren Grace Media was launched in February 2020 by The Real Housewives of New Jersey exec producer Toran and former NBCU exec Farrell.

Exclusive: Elisabeth Röhm and Malik Yoba have teamed with veteran reality TV executives Dorothy Toran (The Real Housewives of New Jersey) and Leslie D. Farrell’s Lauren Grace Media on a true-crime docuseries.

Created by Röhm and Yoba, the project, which is in development, explores how racial and socioeconomic disparities influence criminal investigations and how justice is served. Specific cases are not being revealed.

“We are so thrilled to partner with Elisabeth and Malik to help shine a light on matters of racial inequity,” Toran said. “They both have such an incredible commitment and passion for having the difficult conversations required to help combat the inequalities so many disadvantaged communities face.”

The iconic bobsled prop featured in the classic feel-good Disney movie Cool Runnings was stolen this week from the Canadian bar where it had been on display since filming wrapped nearly three decades ago. Located at Ranchman's bar in Calgary, Alberta, the bobsled had been gifted to the establishment by the movie's production crew. Although the bar closed last month, the bobsled had hung without incident outside below the roof of the building until it was taken down sometime between Oct. 21-25.

"I feel like I got gut-punched," said Rob Campbell, the realtor handling the sale of the property. As suspending the bobsled to begin with was a very difficult task, Campbell also suggests that the theft appears to have been professionally planned by a group of individuals.
