The 1993 modern Western hit Tombstonefollows the true story of the infamous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and the Earp Vendetta Ride that took place in Arizona in the 1880s. Like most media based on real events, people, and places, the filming location is one of the most important parts of maintaining historical accuracy and viewer immersion. Tombstone involves a star-studded ensemble cast, including leads Kurt Russell as famous gunslinger Wyatt Earp, Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday, Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo, and Sam Elliot as Wyatt's brother, Virgil.
The film depicts the real-life conflict between Wyatt's crew and a group of heavies known as The Cowboys. While not everything in the movie is perfectly accurate to what really happened, it expertly blends fact and fiction among several historical events during that time period. But the major factor of believability comes from its Arizona filming locations, which establish the narrative's overall realism.

The Spider-Man 4 rumors have been picking up steam since it was announced that Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink has joined the cast of the movie in a mysterious lead role, and a new casting call doing the rounds online (via Daniel Richtman) has amped speculation up to another level.
Sink's character is described as "a sharp and free-spirited woman with a mysterious past. Strong-willed, intelligent, and not easily intimidated."
Any number of Marvel Comics heroes and villains could potentially fit the bill here. There's been some chatter about Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, but the prevailing theory is that Sink will play a new take on Mary Jane Watson. The X-Men's Jean Grey is another possibility, but it's looking increasingly likely that this initial rumor sprang from crossed wires about which project Sink was in talks for.

Disney’s live action remake of Snow White was never going to open to boffo box office. The toxic early buzz and poor tracking suggested that the Mouse House was fighting an uphill battle with this one, but given how well their live-action remakes did in the past, no one expected the film to open to less than $50 million – including us. That number was seen by some as a worst-case scenario, considering the $270 million price tag.
However, Deadline is now reporting that the movie is opening far worse than anyone expected, with a $43 million weekend, which is even less than the flop remake of Dumbo (which cost half of what Snow White did) made. Unless the box office picks up notably in the next few weeks (similar to what happened with Mufasa: The Lion King), Disney is going to lose a mint on this one, with it the second major misfire of the year,...

When it comes to Spider-Man, every generation has its favorite. But for many fans, Tobey Maguire’s portrayal in Sam Raimi’s trilogy remains unmatched. His web-slinging adventures not only redefined superhero cinema but also delivered some of the most unforgettable moments in comic book movie history. Among them, one particular stunt stands out the most, which in itself is a defining image of Spider-Man himself.

Strangely enough, this signature move is completely absent from Tom Holland’s Marvel Cinematic Universe films. So, what is this missing stunt, and why does it cement Maguire’s status as the Goat?
The MCU cannot really match Toby Maguire’s iconic Spider-Man stunts

Aside from Tom Holland and Zendaya, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is the only actor to have officially joined the cast of Spider-Man 4. As a result, speculation about her role in the movie continues to run rampant, especially as she was initially rumoured to be in line for Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot as Jean Grey.
Multiple scoopers have since dismissed the idea of Sink playing Marvel Girl in Spider-Man 4, though Mary Jane Watson's name has been thrown around alongside characters like Mayday Parker and Firestar.
Now, it seems Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. Black Cat, is another likely contender. Many fans have suggested Sink play the character as it makes sense on a few different levels. Not only is Black Cat's live-action debut long overdue, but she's an ideal love interest for a Spider-Man who has pretty much given up being Peter Parker.

After the billion-dollar hit of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the fourth Tom Holland-led Spidey movie has been surprisingly slow-moving. But it is in the works, and targeting a July 2026 release date. "Spider-Man 4" recently scored a new female lead in actress Sadie Sink, but what about the movie's big bad?
There's been no confirmed villain and, truthfully, the Spider-Man films have already gone through his major adversaries. "No Way Home" even brought back past villains for a multiversal Sinister Six. That probably cools the chances of us getting a Marvel Cinematic Universe-original Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, etc. for now.
Kraven the Hunter has been the perennial "they'll definitely do him in the next movie" pick since back when Andrew Garfield was still going to get his "Amazing Spider-Man 3." But Sony instead chose to make a (terrible) "Kraven the Hunter" solo movie, so I doubt they'll want to drag him out again so soon.

We haven't seen Clea (Charlize Theron) since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but - perhaps not too surprisingly - the powerful sorceress is expected to return for Avengers: Doomsday.
Theron made her MCU debut as the character in the Sam Raimi-directed sequel's post-credits scene. She only makes a brief appearance and isn't actually named, but after convincing the Master of the Mystic Arts (Benedict Cumberbatch) to accompany her to the Dark Dimension in order to fix an Incursion he caused, it always seemed pretty clear that Marvel Studios had big plans in place for the niece of the Dread Dormammu.
Now, The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez is claiming that Clea will be a part of the already jam-packed MCU event movie. He also notes that America Chavez, She-Hulk, and - just in case the last dozen or so "confirmations" weren't enough - the Scarlet Witch will have...

The world of custom mods is quite intriguing, and sometimes – even quite frightening. Making custom parts has been quite the passion project for a ton of hobbyists for a while now, with the Xbox Series X/S controller being one of the more popular modding options as of late.
Readers might remember the cheeky Deadpool and Wolverine controller released as part of previously released Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of the same name, which housed some…interesting additions to say the least.
A modder has done the impossible, and managed to make an even more monstrous version of the same controller, this time focused around Willem Dafoe’s depiction of the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie.

You would not be crazy if you confused Steven Knight’s 2013 man-confined-in-a-car movie Locke with director David Yarovesky’s new thriller Locked, which has Bill Skarsgård trapped in a nightmare car with no way out. The former had Tom Hardy as a troubled guy named Locke watching his life unravel during a feature-length road trip. This one has Skarsgård as Eddie, a deadbeat but well-meaning dad to Sarah (Ashley Cartwright) and petty thief whose attempt to steal a luxury SUV turns into disaster because its unseen psycho vigilante owner named William (Anthony Hopkins) has rigged it so bad things happen. And there is no way out as he continues to pull the strings remotely in this motorized fortress as he carries on a conversation with the imprisoned Eddie.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is another MCU movie that was in a constant state of flux while shooting. Neither director Sam Raimi nor writer Michael Waldron had seen WandaVision when work on the sequel began, leading to a take on the Scarlet Witch that disappointed many fans.
The last time we saw Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, she had broken bad and was seemingly crushed beneath Mount Wundagore. The expectation is that she'll return in Avengers: Doomsday and rumour has it the hero will be allied with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
The Playlist recently spoke with Olsen for her new movie The Assessment and wondered whether the Scarlet Witch's villainous turn was always planned or whether it was a decision made during additional photography.
"I actually wasn’t a part of the reshoots," she confirmed. "I was filming [HBO’s limited series] 'Love and Death.' So, what I did is what stayed.

Plot: A thief breaking into a luxury SUV realizes that he has slipped into a sophisticated game of psychological horror.
Review: Locked is my favorite kind of film: one that relies solely on its lead and an interesting concept to fill out the entire runtime. It never goes off the beaten path and breaks the promise of the premise, which would have been so easy to do. Instead, it executes the basic premise in a way that excites and thrills over its 90-minute runtime. Add in some fantastic performances and you’ve got the makings for one of the most entertaining thrillers of the year.
Locked starts with Eddie (Skarsgård) as he’s looking for an easy score. He seems to find it in the form of an unlocked Svu parked in a random car park. But when he gets in, he discovers that all the doors are locked, and he’s completely trapped.

The superhero movie genre changed forever as a result of the release of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, which officially brought the world of Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics into the mainstream. While Blade had been a hit as an R-Rated action film and X-Men appealed to niche comic book readers, Spider-Man became one of the biggest films of 2002, proving that superhero stories were there to stay. Although development on an official Spider-Man film had taken many years, with various creative teams involved, Raimi had the foresight to make a brightly colored, optimistic version of the iconic webslinger that captured the sense of fun that was evident in Lee’s original material. It also came down to brilliant casting; Tobey Maguire captured the geeky charisma of Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst embodied the “girl next door” archetype that Mary Jane Watson represented, and J.K. Simmons felt lifted directly from the panels...

Given how blatantly transparent it has become in recent months that the rich dictate, often without thought or mercy, the fate of the poor, Locked would seem to be in a perfect position to rile up the 99% and grab some free op-ed space. Unfortunately, it's not quite ambitious enough nor insightful enough for that. The film, about a petty thug who breaks into a luxury SUV only to find it’s been booby-trapped by an unseen and obscenely wealthy tormentor, is a B-movie more interested in torturing its main character than inspiring the hoi polloi to march in the streets. But with a few decent tricks up its tailpipe, the latest from Brightburn director David Yarovesky sputters to a tattered and bloody checkered flag.

Between the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, the Tasm reboots and the latest McU-set films, we've seen Peter Parker face-off against most of his best-known bad guys on the big screen. We still don't know who Tom Holland's web-slinger will come up against in Spider-Man 4, but a new rumor may have narrowed things down quite a bit.
According to scooper Mttsh, Spidey will tangle with a female villain in the upcoming movie.
Apparently, the character has already been cast - but won't be played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who is believed to be joining the MCU as a new take on Mary Jane Watson.

Spider-Man doesn't have that many major female foes, so Felicia Hardy/Black Cat would seem like the safest bet.

Liam Neeson has appeared in over 100 feature films since making his big-screen debut 47 years ago in an adaptation of John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress." He spent the 1980s making his bones via supporting performances in high-profile movies like "Excalibur," "The Bounty," "The Dead Pool," but it was his lively portrayal of a hell-raising hill person in the Patrick Swayze revenge vehicle "Next of Kin" that made Hollywood perk up and take notice. The following year, Sam Raimi cast Neeson as Peyton Westlake aka Darkman, but it wasn't until Steven Spielberg entrusted the Irish actor with the title role in "Schindler's List" that he was off and running as a movie star.
When Neeson surprised moviegoers in 2008 by thriving as an action star in "Taken," he leaned heavily into the bit. Two sequels followed, as did "The A-Team," "Unknown," "Non-Stop," and "Run All Night." For more serious-minded fans of Neeson's work,...

The horror genre possibly harbors the most valuable props you can think of. Freddy's glove, Leatherface's chainsaw and, why not, the cup used by the lady in Get Out to hypnotize Chris. Most horror movies have a specific object that fans would like to own. And as it turns out, you can actually buy one of horror's most precious objects:Evil Dead's Necronomicon, a.k.a. the Book of the Dead, which is activated upon reciting some incantations to summon the visciously playful and wicked demons from Sam Raimi's franchise.

Bill Skarsgård Thriller Debuts On Rt With Score That Continues Nosferatu Star's Post-Crow Hot Streak
Bill Skarsgård has continued his Rotten Tomatoes hot streak with his latest thriller. The actor, who is the son of Mamma Mia! and Thor star Stellan Skarsgård and the brother of True Blood and Big Little Lies' Alexander Skarsgård, had his breakout role when he played Pennywise in 2017's It and its 2019 sequel It: Chapter Two. Since then, he has taken on a number of roles in prominent projects including playing Zeitgeist in Deadpool 2, Kro in Eternals, and Marquis Vincent de Gramont in John Wick: Chapter 4.
Recent Bill Skarsgård movies have had a scattershot response from critics. While the twisty horror-thriller Barbarian (92%) and the action sequel John Wick: Chapter 4 (94%) earned him two Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes scores in a row in 2022 and 2023 respectively, he followed that by starring in a pair of 2024 action movies that earned splats, namely Boy Kills World (58%) and The Crow (21%). Before my screening of "Locked," director David Yarovesky made a surprise appearance to thank the press and the special guests in attendance, as this would be his first time watching the movie with a crowd outside of friends and colleagues. "When I started making this movie, I cannot tell you how many people said 'Oh cool, that's totally a streaming movie,' [...] so it's surreal because when you walk into an AMC and see it up on the screen like this, you don't know that it's a tiny indie movie." And he's right. "Locked" is the type of indie thriller that used to be a movie theater's bread and butter — low-budget/high-return seat-fillers like Kurt Russell's "Breakdown" or the Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones vehicle, "Blown Away" — that are now immediately dumped onto a streamer and lost to the void of algorithms. It's said often in the wake...

There are few horror franchises that have as rabid a fan base as Evil Dead. The Sam Raimi franchise has seen five film installments, a TV series and a recent hit video game that has introduced a new generation of fans to Ash Williams. The original film in this deadite-based nightmare, The Evil Dead, just celebrated the 40th anniversary of its theatrical release last year. Now, fans can bid on the film's original deadly props. This includes the dreaded Necronomicon.

Bruce Campbell first gained attention in the horror world when he starred as Ash Williams in the cult classic The Evil Dead in 1981. While the last two Evil Dead projects didn't feature Campbell on center stage, the actor has remained the face of the iconic horror franchise that Sam Raimi created. And though he has been in a number of movies and television shows since then, he'd still want to revisit the iconic character that helped shape him into the actor he is today. However, though the actor expressed his willingness to return to the Evil Dead realm, it is something he's only willing to do under one (understandable) condition.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Born Again
Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again might just be the best TV series from the MCU in a while, despite it not being as good as its Netflix origins. Apart from Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, a few other familiar actors returned in beloved roles (some tragically). Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher is also set to return.
The ending of episode 3 saw a masked man dressed with a Punisher symbol shoot the vigilante White Tiger in the head. The symbol has come up on many occasions in the series already and it is only a matter of time before Frank Castle makes his appearance. Showrunner Dario Scaradapane’s statements just made me realize who might bring him back.

"We really didn't pay attention to the MPAA rating at all." The latest geek out on Adam Savage's Tested channel is this examination of a classic horror movie proper - the iconic Necronomicon book from Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise. During another visit to Prop Store, Savage takes a closer look at a few actual screen used props created for Raimi's Evil Dead II (1987). The video features prop designer & SFX veteran Tom Sullivan, who created special effects, creature make up, stop-motion animation, & props for the film. He shows him one of the original shooting scripts, a dagger prop, and the "Book of the Dead" Necronomicon featuring his own original drawings on many pages. "Adam meets the special effects artist and propmaker who actually designed and made the Book of the Dead for the original film and its sequel!" We also recently posted the video of Adam geeking...

You’re walking down the street, sipping your overpriced coffee, when suddenly, half the people around you vanish into dust. Your barista? Gone. The guy who was about to hit you with his scooter? Poof. That annoying co-worker you were pretending not to see? Also dust. Now imagine experiencing all of that… with superhuman senses.
For Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, The Blip wouldn’t just be a bizarre moment, it would be absolute sensory horror. The sound of heartbeats disappearing mid-thump. The scent of perfume, cologne, and city grime vanishing in real-time.

Ever since the Sam Raimi-helmed iteration shattered box-office records back in the early 2000s, it seems the Spider-Man franchise simply cannot be stopped. In addition to the third animated Spider-Verse film currently in the works, along with Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir series taking shape, there is a highly anticipated fourth live-action, Tom Holland-led film announced and coming into fruition. Sadie Sink was just announced to join the sequel, for example, with additional juicy updates expected in the not-too-distant future. One of Holland's co-stars from the first three hit movies is rising star Jacob Batalon, who nails the role of Peter Parker's pal Ned Leeds.
MovieWeb recently spoke with Batalon at the Novocaine junket in Los Angeles, where the fan-favorite performer also took time to speak about his deadpan-hilarious Spider-Man character. He also addressed those online theories that have swirled about whether Ned will turn into Hobgoblin at some point,...

Director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell have worked on four "Evil Dead" film and TV projects together. I needn't reiterate "The Evil Dead" and "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn," as the cultists know them well. However, something happened after Raimi and Campbell made "Army of Darkness" in 1992, completing Ash's arc in the process. That film was distributed by Universal, which positioned it to gain a crossover audience. Sadly, though, it didn't do well at the box office, but became a massive cult hit. It was deeply beloved by many, eventually attaining the same canonized status as its immediate forebear.
In his autobiography "If Chins Could Kill," Campbell laid out the difference between a "cult film" and a "blockbuster." A blockbuster is a million people seeing a film 10 times, and a cult film is 10 people seeing a film a million times.

The legendary Stan Lee’s impact on the comic book and movie industry is undeniable. He brought countless superheroes into the spotlight and played a huge role in making this genre so popular. However, a new claim made by his alleged assistant has sent shockwaves through the Marvel community. Jon Bolerjack, who was allegedly the assistant of the late legend, has made some strong claims.

One can indeed watch each installment in Sam Raimi's celebrated "Evil Dead" franchise in the order of their release, but it might not help keep the continuity clear. The actual narrative throughline of the "Evil Dead" movies is a little hazy throughout, and each new movie might serve as a soft reboot of the one that came before it. The ending of one movie doesn't clearly link to the next, and the main character of Ash (Bruce Campbell) doesn't seem to learn or grow from his experiences. Indeed, Ash only appears to get dumber and more selfish with every outing. The already-weak continuity then becomes especially messy when one starts factoring in director's edits and alternate endings that only sort of count toward the franchise's central canon. One can also, if they were ambitious, include short films that Sam Raimi made when he was a teenager. He is an iconoclast.

Who is the highest-grossing actor of all time? Is it a proven A-lister like Tom Cruise? A reliable action star like Dwayne Johnson? Or maybe a Marvel leading man like Robert Downey Jr.? Based solely on the number of appearances in high-grossing titles, the most bankable name of all time is Stan Lee. Wait, that Stan Lee? He's not an actor. Correct, he's not. But his numerous MCU cameos in some of the most financially successful films of all time put him at the top of the list.
Opinions on whether Lee should actually count as the top-earner will vary, as his cameos rarely impact the films' plots in any meaningful ways. But the fact that he's there in the first place points to the extreme success of the MCU franchise as a whole (minus a few duds). Ask any stunt person, and they'll tell you: the ability to sell taking a punch is just as important, and perhaps more so, than credibly throwing one. Ask any editor or sound designer, and they'll corroborate this and then some. If you've ever watched raw dailies from an action movie, you'll note how oddly weightless a lot of fight sequences become when they're robbed of their rhythm and the satisfying Thwam sound of their body blows. All this is to say that action in cinema is so incredibly dependent on selling the total effect of the violence, even more than show-stopping stunts and feats of strength and dexterity. Since it's all in the timing, it's no wonder that so many great action directors either come from or are adept at comedy -- from Buster Keaton to Jackie Chan.

Sam Raimi is one of the most distinguished genre filmmakers of the past several decades, especially when taking into consideration his humble origins. Although Rami started his career by making graphic independent films with his childhood best friend, Bruce Campbell, he would go on to make some of the most successful blockbusters of all time. Nonetheless, Raimi has fluctuated between film scales, opting to make smaller films in between the tentpoles.

On March 15, a horror film is leaving Netflix that fright fans should scramble to see — just not alone, as Stephen King warns. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a highly unusual shocker about a mysterious corpse that causes problems for a pair of father-son coroners. Their postmortem produces baffling clues to her origins that they will have to make sense of before her curse can take over their lives.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter director André Øvredal tackled this startlingly original story that Stephen King compared favorably with Alien and the early work of body horror king David Cronenberg. The gruesome autopsy triggers a series of supernatural events, while also provoking a painful dissection of the coroners' personal history. Excellent FX complements equally great performances, the best of which is delivered by the eerily lively Jane Doe herself.

Sink is the first major actor to join the project and her announcement led to much speculation as to who she could play in the Marvel sequel, which will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi”) and is due to start filming this year.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Daredevil: Born Again” through Season 1, Episode 3.]
There are few things as satisfying as a courtroom drama. From the tradition of “12 Angry Men” to “Juror #2” and even the recent, twisted version on “Yellowjackets,” this dramatic sub-genre exemplifies that formula can be consistently entertaining in the right hands.
I read a tweet many years ago about how the best Marvel movies are something else at their core: “Winter Soldier” is a spy thriller, “Ant-Man” is a heist film, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is a teen comedy, and so on. “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1, Episode 3 is a full-tilt courtroom drama that expertly opens up further storylines while wrapping up its main arc.
After learning that his client Hector (Kamar de los Reyes) is the vigilante known as White Tiger, Matt (Charlie Cox) has his hands full trying to keep the secret and still prepare his defense. He believes that Hector is a good and innocent man,...
