Quentin Tarantino is known for having clear-cut ideas about what he wants in each of his movies from his cast. It probably doesn't come as a shock that there are a number of rejection stories from actors, but this one, regarding Reservoir Dogs, might be a little unexpected. The film was Tarantino's breakthrough as an independent film director. He went on to have minor roles in other films and shows, including ER and has been credited as a writer on the likes of From Dusk Till Dawn, but it's his directing work that he is most acknowledged for.
With Reservoir Dogs relying heavily on dialogue to convey the heist story, Tarantino needed a compelling cast that would replace the action. X-Files star David Duchovny made an attempt at becoming part of the crime movie, when he auditioned to play Mr. Orange. Despite Tarantino thinking Duchovny was a great actor,...

The script is lean, the sword edges keen and the characters mean in Tornado. The second feature from John Maclean – a long time coming since 2015’s Slow West – is a stripped back and propulsive affair centring on a Japanese puppeteer’s daughter, Tornado (model-turned-actress Kôki), who finds herself unexpectedly on the run from a gang of criminals led by Sugarman (Tim Roth) against the bleak and wild backdrop of 1790s Britain.
Maclean plunges us straight into a chase, with Tornado and a young boy (Nathan Malone) desperately fleeing Sugarman, his son Little Sugar (Jack Lowden) and the rest of Sugarman’s cronies, before winding us back to show how a puppet show performance with her father (Takehiro Hira) – a skilful and entertaining interlude in its own right – led Tornado’s path to cross theirs.
Essentially a chase-and-fight film, it shares a lot of DNA with Slow West, just as the.

Following its acclaimed six-season run, Peaky Blinderscontinues the story of its titular Birmingham street gang with the upcoming feature-length adaptation, The Immortal Man. According to Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the anticipated Netflix film features "higher" stakes for Tommy Shelby and his crew, teasing lots of "fatalism" and "hedonism" along the way.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Knight hinted at The Immortal Man turning up the emotional weight from the Peaky Blinders series, with Cillian Murphy's Shelby experiencing an "existential crisis" as he and his cohorts experience the traumatic fallout from World War II. According to Knight, the movie plays up the struggles Shelby and his gang experience trying to survive the war. "It's set during 1940, when Birmingham was being carpet-bombed every night by the German Air Force. So, obviously, the stakes are higher. People don't know if they're going to live until tomorrow morning. There's a lot of hedonism,...

Among the world-renowned filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is one name that comes with instant recognition among anyone who has the slightest interest in cinema. Tarantino came into the world on March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and gained both serious acclaim and a devoted fanbase through his storytelling methods.
Tarantino achieved his fame by going against typical standards. He also stands apart from his peers since he didn’t attend film school and lacked industry-related family ties. He gained knowledge about films by working at a video store that provided him access to a collection of different genres and filmmaking styles. His personal study gave him an independent outlook that separated his storytelling methods.

Tim Roth's career has been "healthily messy".The 63-year-old actor has starred in a host of well-known movies, including 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Hateful Eight' - but Tim admits that there's also been a chaotic element to his career. The London-born film star told The Hollywood Reporter: "My feeling is that the career that I was after was anarchy. I always like that - and chaos. "So, I always do a film to finance another film. Because a lot of these films that I love to do, these crazy films I love to do, have no money. They’re the little independent things that are trying and are struggling to be made even more now than ever. So you got to do the ones that finance them. But sometimes they are terrible, and sometimes they are great, and sometimes the little independents don’t work.

What is the role that first comes to mind when you think of Tim Roth? Is it the clumsy bellboy from Four Rooms? The wailing criminal who gets shot in Reservoir Dogs? Or is it the psychology wiz in Lie to Me? The excellent British actor has played a litany of noteworthy characters, but top among them is not likely to be his role in Tim Burton's remake of Planet of the Apes. Regardless, his performance as General Thade gave him the opportunity to appear on-screen with Charlton Heston, a truly bittersweet experience considering it featured the controversial actor in one of his last roles.

When Tim Roth was first approached to co-star inGridlock’d(1997), he was hesitant about working with Tupac Shakur.
According to THR, in a recent discussion at Luxembourg City Film Fest, Roth revealed the journey that ultimately led to him acting alongside legendary music and film icon Tupac. The film, a crime comedy directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall, follows two heroin addicts, Spoon (Tupac) and Stretch (Roth), as they navigate a bureaucratic nightmare while trying to enter rehab. Westworld actress Melanie Thandiwe Newton also starred in the film. Initially, Laurence Fishburne was set to star in the film, and Roth was eager to work with him. But after Fishburne dropped out, Roth was informed that a rapper would be taking his place—an idea he immediately rejected.

Luxembourgish actress, director, producer and TV host Désirée Nosbusch’s (Bad Banks) first fiction feature film as a director, Poison, starring British actor Tim Roth and Denmark’s Trine Dyrholm, finally premiered in her homeland. The 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival this week screened the drama, adapted from the play Gif by the Dutch author Lot Vekemans, that explores the reunion of a couple who meet again 10 years after a tragedy.
The screening was held outside the festival’s competition lineup, which is being judged by a jury led by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof (The Seed of the Sacred Fig) and also includes Spanish auteur Albert Serra (Afternoons of Solitude), Dyrholm (The Girl With the Needle), VFX guru Jeff Desom (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Austrian actress Valerie Pachner (A Hidden Life), and screenwriter Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake). Spanish auteur Albert Serra always gets strong reactions to his films, and that’s how he likes it. His latest, his first documentary, Afternoons of Solitude, has been no different. Paul Laverty on Ken Loach’s Final Film, Trump as “a Symptom of the Times,” Musk’s “Unfettered Power”
Screenwriter Paul Laverty has made a name for himself with social realist movies with long-term friend and creative partner Ken Loach, such as Cannes Palme D’Or winners I, Daniel Blake and The Wind That Shakes the Barley.
Born in Calcutta, India to an Irish mother and a Scottish father, he earned a philosophy degree in Rome and worked, in the mid-1980s, for a human rights organization in Nicaragua. Nowadays, he lives in Edinburgh. Currently, the creative is attending the 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival where he is a member of the jury led by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof and attended by such stars as Tim Roth.
There, Laverty talked to THR about the role of film amid the current state of the world, hopes to work with his partner, Spanish filmmaker Icíar Bollaín (I Am Nevenka) and whether The Old Oak was really Loach’s final feature film.

Meetings of fascists, young skinheads, Elvis, experiences with such legendary directors as David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino and Werner Herzog, and the media circus around Oscar nominees — those were just some of the topics addressed by British actor Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy, Lie to Me) during a master class at the 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival on Wednesday.
The crowded session followed Tuesday night’s Luxembourg premiere of independent movie Poison, directed by Désirée Nosbusch (Bad Banks), in which Roth stars opposite Danish actress Trine Dyrholm as a couple that meets again years after tragedy drove them apart. Like the title of its feature-length continuation, The Immortal Man, Peaky Blinders could live on for a while. Franchise creator Steven Knight hints the upcoming film is a "fitting end to the first chapter" of the Peaky Blinders' story, suggesting there could be more from the popular period drama.
Speaking with The Playlist's Bingeworthy podcast (via Entertainment Weekly), Knight was asked about The Immortal Man and whether the movie was the finale for the Peaky Blinders franchise or a part of bigger plans. Knight teased that the latter could be the case, stating he'd continue Peaky Blinders if the right story emerges. "As long as there's an appetite for it, and I've got stories to tell, then why not?" he said. These comments follow Knight's recent statements that Peaky Blinders would likely continue, though he could not announce any plans for the beloved franchise.

Creator Steven Knight has said that he hopes his Peaky Blinders movie will get a cinema release rather than go straight to Netflix.
Netflix and cinema releases aren’t two things that have traditionally mixed well in the past. Greta Gerwig is currently fighting to get her Narnia film a proper cinema release – not that cinemas seem too happy about Netflix’s deal with IMAX. The Russo brothers’ expensive The Electric State, by contrast, won’t enjoy the benefits of a huge screen and excellent sound.
Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, is now the latest filmmaker hoping to see his film on the big screen. Knight and director Tom Harper have been feverishly working on a Peaky Blinders movie, which wrapped production in December and is expected to be released later this year.
Speaking to The Playlist (via Variety), Knight reflected on his desire for Peaky Blinders to hit cinemas.

While the original TV series ran for six seasons on the streamer from 2013 to 2022, when it was announced last year, that Tommy Shelby’s story would continue as a film instead of a seventh season, however, after it was set to release on Netflix last June, Knight, who penned the screenplay, hopes it will also debut in theaters — for the passionate fans.

Over the course of more than 30 films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has treated the fans to amazing villains that make the lives of their favorite heroes impossible. However, after dozens of different characters, it has also fallen short with certain evil guys that now belong to the MCU Hall of Shame.
From terrible adaptations to an insanely small screen time for a main bad guy, many villains definitely deserved better and the MCU failed them. Characters like the Collector or Abomination had the potential to be more than what they ended up becoming, and now it may simply be too late to fix their story in the MCU; leaving voids that will never be filled.

If you have never heard about the Luxembourg City Film Festival before, it may surprise you to know that the biggest annual film event in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which is surrounded by France, Germany and Belgium, is turning 15 this year.
Long considered a hidden gem on the global fest circuit, the event has steadily gained in stature, routinely attracting big industry names to a country with a population of only around 670,000. Just take last year as an example, when the fest set an attendance record with a 10 percent increase to 19,962. For its 2024, LuxFilmFest, it attracted the likes of Viggo Mortensen, Chinese director Wang Bing, Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako, French director Gaspar Noé — who hosted a retrospective and a masterclass — and a jury that included Luxembourg star Vicky Krieps, German actor Sebastian Koch, and U.S. director Ira Sachs.

Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk remains one of the most overlooked Marvel movies of all time. While Edward Norton’s Green Goliath is considered better than the Mark Ruffalo version we got in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film was uneven with its storytelling. Well, we might finally have a reason why the film felt a bit off— Edward Norton’s involvement in the script.

While actors aren’t really allowed to alter the script, Norton had a special clause in his contract that allowed him to meddle with the script of the 2008 flick. The end result was that one crucial scene ended up being dumbed down due to Norton’s interference.

Anthony Mackie’s movie has now surpassed yet another MCU movie, becoming the third least-grossing film from Marvel Studios. It is not an exciting feat, but it does provide a sigh of relief for the Captain America team. Scroll below for more.

Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole has looked back on a huge change for his character Michael Gray in the show's final season. The backbone of the final episodes revolved around a gang war between Michael and cousin Tommy Shelby.
Michael was initially portrayed in the historical crime drama as a loyal lieutenant for Tommy, though he slowly grew resentful of his cousin's rule. In Peaky Blinders' final season, Michael vowed to kill Tommy in revenge for landing him in prison on a drug charge. Cole recently told The Hollywood Reporterthat he doesn't think writer Steven Knight planned for the cousins to go to war, but had to change scripts following the 2021 death of cast member Helen McCrory, who played Michael's mother Polly Gray.

Ten years ago, John Maclean launched his directorial debut Slow West at the Sundance Film Festival, and in that 1860s Western film, the writer-director populated the story with immigrants from Ireland, Germany and Scotland who all mixed on the American frontier with Native Americans. For his second directorial effort Tornado, which opened the Glasgow Film Festival on Wednesday, the Scottish helmer applied a similar premise.
“Slow West was populated from people all over the world and I wanted to suggest the same thing in Britain,” Maclean tells Deadline of his newest film. “I had read and heard a few things about samurais turning up in Spain and, a bit later, turning up in Scotland. There was a bit of an exodus of samurais because they were changing position all the time in Japan and they were becoming less warriors and more guns for hire, or swords for hire, and they wandered.

Ahead of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's debut on Disney+, there were rumblings that the series might feature Skaar's MCU debut. When a Sakaarian spaceship came to Earth in the premiere, those rumours were all but confirmed, though we didn't see Bruce Banner's alien son until the finale.
That came in a throwaway scene when he showed up at Jennifer Walters' family barbeque with Skaar in tow. Wil Deusner (Stargirl) played the character but never spoke.
Fans didn't exactly love the design, and was was quite a vocal backlash to how Marvel Studios presented the character. However, some concept art in the newly released She-Hulk: Attorney At Law - The Art of the Series showcases what might have been in the Disney+ series.
Some of these aren't great but others are more in line with the comic books and would have surely received a far warmer response from fans.

[This story contains spoilers for Captain America: Brave New World.]
With Captain America: Brave New World, Julius Onah joined a long line of filmmakers who jumped from an indie film to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After directing 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox for Paramount (before it ultimately landed at Netflix amid a splashy Super Bowl stunt), he helmed the 2019 indie drama Luce, about a high achieving high school student who was adopted from war-torn Eritrea.
The Sundance film proved pivotal to Onah landing his MCU entry, in part thanks to Luce star Octavia Spencer going to bat for him with Marvel. The film also put him in the orbit of future Brave New World star Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), who years ago was roommates with Luce lead Kelvin Harrison Jr. Coincidentally, Luce actor Tim Roth played The Abomination in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, a movie that factored heavily into the events of Brave New World.

Peaky Blinders vet Finn Cole has finally addressed his absence in Netflix’s upcoming sequel movie to the acclaimed BBC drama. For five seasons of the Cillian Murphy-led gangster series, Cole portrayed the role of Michael Gray, who was first introduced in Season 2 as Polly Gray’s long-lost son.
During a recent interview with THR, Cole shared his reaction to the Peaky Blinders movie, revealing that he’s excited to watch it as a fan for the first time. He also confirmed that fans won’t see his character make an appearance as one of the ghosts that has been haunting Thomas Shelby, which was something he has struggled with since the first season.

A Complete Unknown Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
What’s Good: The performances and the production design are all pretty amazing, and they really transport you to the 1960s.
What’s Bad: The film feels afraid of going deeper in any direction, and in the end, Bob Dylan, and the rest of the characters, remain as unknown figures.
Loo Break: The film is pretty tight when it comes to its pacing, and most scenes are important as they are based on events that truly happened.
Watch or Not?: If you are a fan of Bob Dylan or Timothée Chalamet, then this is a must-watch, but don’t expect too much out of this classic biopic.

Captain America Hulk Absence(Photo Credit – YouTube)
Captain America: Brave New World marks a significant chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not only as Sam Wilson’s first solo outing as Captain America but also as a film that revives elements from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. The movie features the return of Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader and introduces Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who undergoes a dramatic transformation into Red Hulk.
Given these strong connections to Hulk lore, many fans expected to see Bruce Banner himself play a role in the story. However, despite the heavy Hulk-related themes, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner does not appear in the movie. Director Julius Onah recently addressed why the Green Goliath was left out, explaining that the decision was made to keep the spotlight firmly on Sam Wilson.

Adapted from Peter Benchley’s novel, Jaws follows a small beach town terrorized by a great white shark, forcing Chief Brody (Roy Scheider), shark hunter Quint (Robert Shaw), and marine biologist Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) to take the battle to the sea.
Beyond its technical brilliance, Spielberg’s meticulous attention to detail was crucial in shaping the film’s atmosphere. From John Williams’ haunting score to the strategic use of color, every creative choice added to Jaws’ immersive horror. In fact, Spielberg made an unusual request to his production designer.

Tim Roth As Severus Snape (Photo Credit – Wikimedia/Instagram)
The role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series is so closely tied to Alan Rickman’s unforgettable portrayal that it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the part.
However, before Rickman donned the flowing black robes, the role was actually offered to another acclaimed British actor, Tim Roth.

During the promotional tour for “Mad Max: Fury Road” back in 2015, director George Miller discussed how silent cinema had inspired the filmmaking ethos behind his chase-movie epic. His hope was that you could potentially watch “Fury Road” as a silent film and still get most of what you needed in terms of the story from the visual language and physical performances of the actors.
When it comes to milieu, the petrol-punk dystopia of “Mad Max” is far removed from the period-piece trappings of “Tornado,” writer-director John Maclean’s long-awaited follow-up to his offbeat western “Slow West” (2015). But for the length of its gripping first act, Maclean’s earthy survival thriller seems pointed towards very similar ends.
Light on dialogue and exposition, the roughly 25-minute opening stretch excels as a work of sustained tension, with the odd farcical stunt — reminding you that this is the same filmmaker behind the “Slow West...

It will be a bittersweet moment for Glasgow Film Festival director Allison Gardner when the curtain rises at the event’s opening night on Wednesday with the world premiere of John Maclean’s Tornado starring Tim Roth and Jack Lowden. On the one hand, there will be the usual sense of pride that comes with launching another edition of what is now Scotland’s biggest film festival and the UK’s second biggest (after the BFI London Film Festival). But on the other hand, this year will mark the final time Gardner will kick off the event she co-founded before she retires in October.
