As Hollywood continues to mourn the death of acting legend Gene Hackman, one of his highest-rated films finds a new streaming home, allowing fans to catch up with some of his best work. Hackman and fellow Oscar-winner Kevin Costner's neo-noir classic, No Way Out, is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

Prime Video recently premiered No Way Out, which made its theatrical debut in 1987. The film has been available to stream on Apple TV and Tubi, with Prime subscribers becoming the latest to check out the Roger Donaldson-helmed thriller.

The cast includes genre icons Tony Todd (Candyman), Sean Young (Blade Runner), and four-time Jason Voorhees actor Kane Hodder, alongside Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About You), Vladimir Kulich (Vikings), Sab Shimono (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III), Ivana Rojas (This Fool), and Scott Brown as the ‘Fedora Man.’

Many factors are involved in crafting a compelling villain for a science fiction movie. After all, the bad guys often tend to be just as captivating than the heroes. Of course, one key element in designing a proper villain is giving them a purpose; a clear goal for them to be trying to achieve, particularly one that directly combats the objectives of the hero. Every so often, a film takes this idea so far as to include an antagonist who, when you think about it, actually has a very valid reason for doing what they do.

This is not to say that all of their actions are completely defensible; many villains are given that title because of the violent/excessive methods they use to achieve their goals. Ridley Scott said Blade Runner and Alien would have been equally successful if not for one film critic's scathing feedback. "She destroyed me," he told Entertainment Weekly, referring to Pauline Kael, The New Yorker's legendary film critic who "destroyed Blade Runner in four pages."

"I didn't even meet her," he added. "To me, it almost walked in the column of industrial espionage, because you're destroying a product before it's out." Scott confirmed he had those four pages framed and mounted in his office, as his constant reminder not to read and believe his own press.

Independent film “The Activated Man” is set to have its worldwide theatrical premiere starting December 13th. The film explores themes of grief and spirituality through the lens of supernatural thriller. Starring Jamie Costa as a man grappling with the loss of his dog, “The Activated Man” follows his character as he experiences unsettling visions and a blurred line between reality and the paranormal.

Directed by Nicholas Gyeney and produced through his company Mirror Images Ltd, “The Activated Man” has already received critical acclaim on the film festival circuit. It has won around 30 awards total, including top honors for horror/thriller at the Glendale International Film Festival and HorrOrigins Film Festival in Tucson. New York-based distributor Stonecutter Media acquired North American distribution rights based on this festival success.
