Many directors' films end up with multiple versions as a result of studio intervention, international re-cuts, or re-released director's cuts. Ridley Scott is certainly one of those filmmakers, having created different director's cuts for 10 movies throughout his career — Robin Hood, Alien, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, The Martian, Gladiator, The Counselor, Legend, Kingdom of Heaven, and, perhaps most controversially, his sci-fi masterpiece, 1982's Blade Runner. The 1992 re-edit of the film is, despite some controversy, widely considered to be one of the greatest director's cuts of all time, eliminating certain things and inserting others (the unicorn dream) in order to create more metaphysical mystery and ambiguity. But that wasn't the only director's cut of Blade Runner.
In 2007, for the 25th anniversary of Blade Runner, Ridley Scott released what is known as 'The Final Cut' of the film, which is now streaming on Netflix beginning today (you can watch it...

Hollywood is a pressure cooker of talent, ambition, and, of course, drama. With fame comes competition, and with competition comes some of the biggest celebrity feuds. Whether it’s actors clashing over roles, musicians battling for the top spot on the charts, or directors and stars butting heads over creative differences, the entertainment world is never short of rivalries.
Sometimes it’s a friendly tension, other times it spirals into a full-blown war, especially when egos, relationships, and big money are involved. Some stars simply can’t stand each other, and when their disagreements spill into the public eye, it’s impossible to look away. Fans take sides, social media erupts, and what starts as a private spat often turns into a headline-grabbing saga.
From career battles to personal vendettas, here are the celebrity feuds of all time that had everyone talking!

Frank Herbert's 1965 "Dune" novel has been a colossal inspiration since its release, encouraging countless other authors and filmmakers. However, for years, a successful movie adaptation proved very hard to get it right. Over five decades later, we have Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part One" and "Dune: Part Two," satisfying critics, fans, and the Academy.
While we wait for "Dune: Part Three," what's a fan to do? Well, the influences of "Dune" go far and wide, as do the cinematic influences of director Villeneuve. From the movies that were inspired by Herbert's original novel, to other films that capture something of the spirit or style of the story, and even previous attempts at tackling the material, there's a lot of cinema out there to please fans of the young, selectively bred Messiah figure Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), who joins the desert-dwelling Fremen on spice planet Arrakis and quells the feud...

In the "Batman" comics, Vicki Vale has almost always been just a love interest for the titular caped crusader. The Alan Grant/Norm Breyfogle era of these comics saw Vale embody some agency, with a focus on her skills as a competent Gotham photojournalist. However, traditional interpretations of Vale are that of a damsel in distress or a vehicle for Batman to tussle with his fractured identity. She's meant to highlight how heroic Batman is, which is contrasted with Bruce Wayne's inability to be honest and vulnerable with someone who only knows half of him. The only exception to this treatment in the comics is 2009's "Batman: Battle for the Cowl," where Vale figures out the Batman-Bruce connection and plays a seminal role in uncovering the truth about Two-Face's nefarious plans for Gotham City.
When Tim Burton honed in on Vicki Vale for 1989's "Batman," it was an opportunity to reinvent this oft-sidelined character.

Netflix's new Western series American Primeval has quickly become one of the platform's biggest hits of the moment, holding the number one spot on the streamer for several days before being dethroned by another bloodbath, WWE Monday Night Raw. Written by The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith and directed by Deepwater Horizon's Peter Berg, the series unflinchingly plunges viewers into the brutally violent world of the American West circa 1857, a time frequently mythologized and often toned down by Hollywood.
While many westerns offer a more sanitized view of 19th Century frontier life, others have been willing to go there before American Primeval hit the scene. One of the best examples from recent years can even be found on the same platform, just a click away after the final episode: 2015's Bone Tomahawk. Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler in his directorial debut, the film is more sparing...

Kyle MacLachlan has many reasons to celebrate filmmaker David Lynch, and he did just that with an emotional reflection on the passing of the 78-year-old Hollywood icon. Having been, as he said himself, plucked from obscurity to star in Lynch’s “first and last big budget movie,” Dune, and soon after taking on a career defining role as Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks, MacLachlan celebrated an “enigmatic” and “intuitive” man who changed his life. He wrote:
“Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision. Sir Ridley Scott thinks ‘Blade Runner’ flopped because of “industrial espionage”.The Harrison Ford-starring sci-fi flick bombed at the box office when it hit cinemas in 1982, and the 87-year-old director has now pointed to bad reviews of the film from the likes of The New Yorker’s Pauline Kael as the main reason why ‘Blade Runner’ never got the chance to commercially succeed. In a roundtable interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Scott said: “It enters the realm of industrial espionage. You’re destroying the subject before it’s out and [Kael] wrote this for the very posh …The New Yorker.“I was actually kind of distressed, I mean enraged, so I wrote to the editor, saying, ‘If you hate me that much, just ignore me, don’t write anything.’ I never got a reply.”While its release didn’t impress financially, ‘Blade Runner’ got a second chance after it...

Tubi has become one of the best places for action fans to get their fix of explosions, espionage, and endless body counts. One classic thriller to have found renewed success on the platform after years in limbo is the Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman action movie No Way Out, the 1987 movie that not only provided both stars with a hit but was also one of their most critically successful films.
A political conspiracy thriller based on the 1946 novel The Big Clock by Kenneth Fearing that rivals some of the best in the genre, Costner stars as Navy Lieutenant Commander Tom Farrell, who becomes caught up in the suspected murder of the mistress of Secretary of Defense David Brice (Hackman). With both men romantically tied to the victim, Farrell must play a cat and mouse game in order to prove his innocence after Brice frames him for the murder. From tense stand-offs to a satisfying climax,...

In the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner and its 2017 sequel, the key question is about identity: whether free-thinking machines should be afforded human rights. Blade Runner 2049 furthers this notion with a protagonist who may be living proof that replicants can reproduce like humans — a revolutionary possibility that is underlined by a reference to the real-life figure of Kaspar Hauser. The mysterious origins of this famous feral child inspired conspiracy theories, and he also seems to have inspired Denis Villeneuve.
In Blade Runner 2049, K (Ryan Gosling) is a replicant who believes that he may have been born of parents, not created in a lab. This revelation is triggered by early memories of a wooden horse, which was also the legendary childhood toy of Kaspar Hauser. Some theorized that Hauser was a royal heir whose existence could have created political problems, much like K's parentage. The film's reference to this fascinating...

Actor John Capodice, who was probably best known for his roles in movies such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and TV shows including Seinfeld and General Hospital, has died at the age of 83. One of those stars who has been seen by millions, even though many may not have his name on the tip of their tongue, Capodice leaves behind a body of work that incorporates over 200 acting credits.
Although Capodice never had that lead role, or long-running stint in a TV show, he certainly made his mark in the industry. That can be seen in the tributes that poured in on social media following the announcement of the actor’s passing. The news of his death was announced in a posting by the Pizzi Funeral Home, which read:
“John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.

The Blade Runner franchise received a long-awaited sequel in 2017 from Denis Villeneuve, and although it was hailed by many as another masterpiece, the film failed to make a splash at the box office. Since then, another big-screen installment has been out of the conversation, but audiences will be re-entering the futuristic neo-noir world soon enough. Amazon is currently developing Blade Runner 2099, a television series starring Michelle Yeoh that will serve as the latest sequel to Ridley Scott's original 1982 classic.

Corral – the movie stands as one of the signature depictions of the Western genre in the modern era of filmmaking.

Within seconds of tuning in, I realized that something very, very wrong was happening with this version of the movie.

Simple – the version of It’s a Wonderful Life streaming on the service has an alternate score. Many factors are involved in crafting a compelling villain for a science fiction movie. After all, the bad guys often tend to be just as captivating than the heroes. Of course, one key element in designing a proper villain is giving them a purpose; a clear goal for them to be trying to achieve, particularly one that directly combats the objectives of the hero. Every so often, a film takes this idea so far as to include an antagonist who, when you think about it, actually has a very valid reason for doing what they do.
This is not to say that all of their actions are completely defensible; many villains are given that title because of the violent/excessive methods they use to achieve their goals. However, at the end of the day, it is difficult to deny that they did have understandable motivations. Having ideas that the viewers...

Ridley Scott's earliest films are now cult classics, but only Alien was a breakout hit when it was released in theaters. Scott reflected on Blade Runner's fumble at the box office.
Ridley Scott said Blade Runner and Alien would have been equally successful if not for one film critic's scathing feedback. "She destroyed me," he told Entertainment Weekly, referring to Pauline Kael, The New Yorker's legendary film critic who "destroyed Blade Runner in four pages."
"I didn't even meet her," he added. "To me, it almost walked in the column of industrial espionage, because you're destroying a product before it's out." Scott confirmed he had those four pages framed and mounted in his office, as his constant reminder not to read and believe his own press.

Ridley Scott was "so offended" that he held onto a rather scathing review of Blade Runner for over three decades. Scott famously directed the 1982 science fiction classic, which starred Harrison Ford in the lead role. However, Pauline Kael of The New Yorker wasnt impressed by the dystopian drama, which was based on author Philip K. Dicks 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? And Scott elaborated on the negative effect the critique had on him in a brand-new interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
No-no-no. Pauline Kael in The New Yorker killed me stone dead with her Blade Runner review. It was four pages of destruction. I never met her. I was so offended. It's been nearly a decade and a half since the TV phenomenon known as Lost came to its conclusion, and even though not all the show's cast members have managed to maintain that same level of brightness in the spotlight that the show had once allowed them, some have gotten extremely lucky. When fans think of the show's most successful cast members, names like Evangeline Lily and Daniel Dae Kim are sure to come to mind. However, even though Matthew Fox has taken an extended hiatus from acting, it's impossible to deny that he, too, has certainly had one of the most successful post-series finale careers. While his acquired film credits are small, they've been pretty impressive, from We Are Marshall to Speed Racer. It's Bone Tomahawk (the last major film he appeared in), however, that has become arguably his most popular one.

The upcoming show Blade Runner 2099 is taking the approach to the world of replicants that Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 should have. Though there isn't much information about Blade Runner 2099 yet, what is publicly known about the Amazon Prime Video show is extremely promising. Michelle Yeoh landed the lead role in Blade Runner 2099, and Hunter Schafer was also cast in a currently unnamed role. Yeoh's character, Olwen, in particular, seems to hint that the story of Blade Runner 2099 will be intriguing as well, as Olwen has been described as a replicant at the end of her lifespan.
Aside from the fact that it's a show instead of a movie, there are a few ways Blade Runner 2099 already seems very different from Blade Runner 2049. Ridley Scott, the director of the original Blade Runner, and his production company, Scott Free, are helping to produce 2099. Denis...

The 1990s produced plenty of classic comedy movies, with some iconic performances from the decade's funniest performers. Comedians like Robin Williams, Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey were all at the peak of their powers in the 1990s, but the decade also delivered great comedy performances from some unexpected sources. Dramatic actors flexed their comedy chops, resulting in some surprisingly hilarious movies.
The 1990s were a miniature golden age for comedy movies in Hollywood, as studios were willing to fork out big budgets for original concepts which let comedy performers and writers do what they do best. Decades later, there are dozens of hilarious classics which still get a lot of love. Actors found their own unique comedy voices, and they were given the opportunity to play around with the material.

In the high-stakes world of Tinseltown, are we guilty of putting all our eggs in the basket of box-office draw as the ultimate yardstick of a film’s success? It’s admittedly a bit disheartening. Sure, a billion-dollar movie grabs the headlines and dominates conversations, but instant financial success is far from the whole enchilada. Take, for instance, Blade Runner. Ridley Scott’s helmed flick has woven itself into the fabric of science fiction culture, albeit with a bumpy start.

Much has been said of the overwhelming ingenuity of Jean-Luc Godard’s early films, but less so about just how well the director knew how to work around budgetary limitations. Alphaville, a dystopian sci-fi noir set in an Orwellian world of omnipresent surveillance run by a malevolent artificial intelligence, sounds at first blush like a large-scale work filled with the sort of macro world-building one typically sees in blockbusters. But Godard, working with next to no resources, captures the oppressiveness of totalitarian government through the claustrophobic conditions of repressed citizens. Ordinary Parisian streets and buildings are captured as they are, though in inky shadow, so that a certain kind of present-day dilapidation comes to suggest futuristic social decay.
Godard takes private detective Lemmy Caution and illustrates Alphaville’s themes of social tension and incipient fascism by demolishing the man’s image. Godard secured Eddie Constantine, who had already played Caution...

Stephen King, the author responsible for horror bestsellers like The Shining, It, Pet Sematary, and Carrie, among others, is no stranger to the appraisal of horror movies. His latest endorsement was for Bone Tomahawk, the Western horror film directed by S. Craig Zahler, which he has called "well worth watching." Using his usual channel of communication, his X account, King wrote a few words of appreciation for the film that, in 2015, shocked every viewer who saw it. The reason? Let King tell you in his post.
King took almost eight years to claim his love for the film, but it's never too late for cult horror films that feel as original as Bone Tomahawk. He was also quite clear about the film's noteworthy gory scene. In his post, the horror author says:
Bone Tomahawk: I was expecting nothing but a time-passer on a rainy Wednesday morning, and got a low-budget Western epic.

Animated TV shows based on popular 1990s films aimed to expand franchises & appeal to younger audiences. Success of films like Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Beetlejuice led to the creation of their animated series. Some 1990s animated series like Back to the Future, Jumanji, and Godzilla adapted source material for kids.
The 1990s saw a huge spike in the popularity of animated TV shows, especially those aimed at kids, so naturally, many of the more popular films at the time got in on the animated action. Animation is an incredible and time-consuming art form. Prior to 1995 and the release of the feature length movie, Toy Story, most animated shows were hand drawn. The 1990s saw the ability to use CGI in making animated content rapidly improve, but this was still largely an era of hand-drawn animation for most TV shows.

As the saying goes, ‘every great man is inspired by another great man to reach their full potential’. Well, this sentiment could not ring truer than in the case of Gene Hackman & Kevin Costner.

It may be a mystery to famed director David Lynch that Patrick Stewart was an acclaimed actor when the latter showed up on the set of his 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Well, sometimes directors have a clear vision of the ideal actor for a role, while other times, a happy accident can result in unexpected greatness. Such was the case with Lynch’s original 1984 Dune adaptation, in which he erroneously cast Patrick Stewart in a role that was meant for someone else.
Yes, Stewart, 83, inadvertently obtained the role of Gurney Halleck. In the process of replacing Aldo Ray at the eleventh hour, the director erroneously cast another Patrick Stewart.

A few days ago, Legendary Entertainment revealed that Denis Villeneuve has started with the development work for Dune 3, aka Dune Messiah. The sequel, Dune 2, received a great response from the audience worldwide. The sci-fi fantasy film is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune movies. It stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Austin Butler and others.
In Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, Timothee Chalamet plays Paul Atreides. When the movie was announced a few years ago, everyone was worried that it would be a good watch. In 1984, David Lynch also made a movie based on Frank’s novel. However, the film performed poorly at the box office, and even the audience wasn’t happy with Lynch’s adaptation.

Ace Ventura inspired Alan Ritchson's comedic acting style, which he would often emulate for laughs growing up. A security guard once stopped Alan Ritchson from meeting his idol, Jim Carrey. Alan Ritchson has honed his acting skills for diverse roles, from tough guys to funny characters.
Alan Ritchson plays it straight as Jack Reacher in his Prime Video series, but the actor recently recalled how he used to show his funny side by imitating his hero, Jim Carrey. Having grown up watching Carrey’s classic outrageous comedies such as Dumb & Dumber and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Ritchson said that the actor’s “physical, goofy and unafraid” style was something that he wanted to emulate at the time.

With Legendary’s big budget Hollywood blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire dominating the box office, you knew it wouldn’t be long before The Asylum whipped up their own “mockbuster” version of the film. Their answer to Godzilla x Kong? It’s titled Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order, a sequel to last year’s Ape vs. Mecha Ape, naturally.
Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order will be available on Digital beginning April 5, and it pits the two titular titans up against, well, a mockbuster take on Lovecraft’s Cthulhu. Naturally!
In Ape x Mecha Ape, “A global cabal of world leaders awakens an ancient creature beneath the ocean floor. Now mankind’s only hope rests on an uneasy alliance between the giant ape and his mechanical arch-nemesis, Mecha Ape MkII, to save the Earth.”
