Exclusive: Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ is adding Lili Taylor to its Season 2 cast in a recurring role, Deadline has learned.
No one would comment but I hear she would play a political foe for Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk. Taylor joins fellow new Season 2 cast addition Matthew Lillard who also is set to recur. Filming on the new season is currently underway in New York.
A continuation of the Daredevil series that aired on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, Born Again picks up with our hero Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, amid a continued fight for justice through his bustling law firm. At the same time, former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

One of the major things we learned about Mikey Madison from her Oscar-winning performance in Sean Baker's Anora is that the girl can scream. Well. And loudly. It's an effective skill to have, particularly if you're considering joining a reboot of one of the most beloved horror franchises of all time. Which is apparently what is currently happening, if new Resident Evil rumors are to be believed.
That's right: according to a new report from World of Reel, the Better Things and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood actress has been offered the lead part in Barbarian writer/director Zach Cregger's reboot of Resident Evil. Madison, if she accepts this purportedly offered role, would star opposite the already-cast Austin Abrams (perhaps best known for his roles in Euphoria and The Walking Dead). Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water, Josh Brolin is in talks to star opposite Austin Abrams (Wolfs) in the Brian Duffield-directed adaptation of the Daniel Krauss novel Whalefall.
Described as The Martian meets 127 Hours, the scientifically accurate story focuses on a scuba diver searching for his deceased father’s remains, only to get swallowed by an eighty-foot, sixty-ton sperm whale with only one hour to escape before oxygen runs out. While struggling to survive, the young diver discovers a new reason to live in the most unlikely place.
Here’s a synopsis for Krauss’s novel courtesy of Amazon:
Jay Gardiner has given himself a fool’s errand—to find the remains of his deceased father in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Monastery Beach. He knows it’s a long shot, but Jay feels it’s the only way for...

Austin Abrams was previously confirmed to lead 20th Century’s feature adaptation of Daniel Kraus’ novel Whalefall. Deadline reports today that Dune actor Josh Brolin is in talks to co-star.
Brian Duffield is directing the project, described as The Martian meets 127 Hours, with Duffield and Kraus co-writing the script.
The storyline follows “a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains who gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. It’s a tale about a young man who has given up on life — only to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places.”
While the potential casting news doesn’t disclose any details about the role that Brolin would be filling, it’s likely that he’ll play Mitt Gardiner, the father of lead protagonist Jay Gardiner. While Kraus...

Let’s call it like it is. The announcement for the cast and characters in Avengers: Doomsday was the biggest comic book news of the year. Marvel Studios spent five-plus hours showing us set chairs and millions of peope tuned in on the internet - that's something else. Thankfully, it was worth it because 27 incredible actors were announced for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, including some major surprises (tap here for the entire list). However, a lot of people were left off the list.
Among the surprising omissions were the likes of Death (played by Aubrey Plaza), Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe), or anyone from the Tva other than Loki. The good news is that this list of 27 names is probably the first of the many casting announcements to be released. We also have to remember that some names will be redacted to add a surprise for viewers when they see Avengers: Doomsday.

Acclaimed actor Jonathan Majors secures another leading role as his Hollywood comeback efforts gather steam. Majors is the new face of the upcoming action thriller, True Threat.
According to Deadline, Majors is attached to star in True Threat, directed by Fruitvale Station producer and The First Purge director Gerard McMurray. This is the second leading role Majors has earned since his conviction on assault and harassment charges stemming from a 2023 domestic incident, having landed the top part in Martin Villeneuve's revenge thriller, Merciless.
True Threat sees former Marvel star Majors portray Vernon Threat, a Special Forces operative who relentlessly pursues justice after his teenage son is murdered by the Harlem-based gang, The Apollo Kids. During his vengeance-filled journey, Threat infiltrates The Carter, a 20-story project that houses The Apollo Kids, battling his way to the top threat to confront that gang's leader and his mentor, "Shallow." The Marvel train just keeps chugging along. The buzzy news of the day concerns the seemingly never-ending casting announcement for "Avengers: Doomsday," which is adding one A-lister after another at a glacially slow pace. But while the vast majority of the reveals were pretty much to be expected, one addition was bound to catch fans by surprise.
That's right, folks: None other than Loki himself, played by Tom Hiddleston, will apparently be back to his mischievous ways in "Doomsday." On paper, this makes perfect sense. Of course the most popular villain in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn't miss out on the biggest and most anticipated team-up film in franchise history.
But for those who've been following along with all the various movies and shows to this point, well, it raises some pretty wild questions about how, exactly, our favorite God of Mischief could possibly be back at all.

One of the more funnier fan theories that had been making the rounds during the last two “Avengers” films was that Paul Rudd‘s Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man could use his powers to shrink small enough to crawl up the butt of Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) and kill him by simply expanding himself to a giant-sized version, exploding the alien Titan into pieces.

Actors often have specific conditions to star in films — especially projects as big as a Marvel movie. Josh Brolin has made it clear that he won't reprise Thanos unless it makes sense to bring the Mad Titan back into the story. Chris Hemsworth only returned for "Thor: Love and Thunder" because director Taika Waititi was coming back as well.
Sometimes, the stipulations begin before a well-known actor has even taken a comic book-level gig. Case in point: Adrien Brody. The actor already has a strong track record across other genres. Over two decades ago, he starred in "The Pianist" (which remains the best music biopic of all time) and was still winning Oscars for his role as visionary postwar architect Lásló Tóth in "The Brutalist" within weeks of this writing. Yet, despite minor appearances in fantasy films like "King Kong," he has never actually landed a role in a straight-up superhero film.

If there's one thing that audiences can't get enough of, it's a pulse-pounding survival thriller that will have them on the edge of their seats up until the credits roll. The unnerving picture chronicles the survival efforts of two expedition groups as they fight to make it off the mountain after a brutal blizzard strikes, forcing them to contend with harsh and unforgiving weather conditions.

Carrie Coon is a gift. Ever since she made her Broadway debut as Honey in the 2010 revival of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," she's been one of the most sought-after actors for the kinds of roles that are reserved for performers who have that extra oomph factor. It's an ineffable quality. You just know it when you see it, and Coon possesses it in spades. She was transcendent on television as the grieving Nora Durst in "The Leftovers," the dogged sheriff Gloria Burgle in "Fargo" season 3, and would-be New York City socialite Bertha Russell in "The Gilded Age," and has also been sensational in movies like "Gone Girl," "His Three Daughters," and "Lake George." Coon is both an invigoratingly versatile actor and an arresting presence regardless of her character's demeanor.

Word on the street is that Austin Abrams, a familiar face from ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Wolfs,’ is chatting with Sony about taking the starring role in their upcoming reboot. This juicy tidbit comes from industry insider DanielRPK, but it’s still just a rumor, so we’re keeping our excitement in check for now.
Zach Cregger, the guy who creeped us out with ‘Barbarian,’ is steering this new take on the zombie-filled franchise. Sony snagged the project after a heated bidding war, and they’ve already locked in a release date—September 18, 2026.
Cregger’s not just directing; he’s also co-writing the script with Shay Hatten, known for action-packed stuff like ‘John Wick: Chapter 3.’ The plan is to bring the series back to its horror roots, leaning into what made the original Capcom video games so spooky.

A star-studded firefighting biopic that will celebrate its 10th anniversary in two years is climbing streaming charts after grossing only $26 million at the box office. Only the Brave, which stars Josh Brolin and Miles Teller, recently left Starz and began streaming on Paramount+, and the film has found success on the platform, sitting at #6 at the time of writing. Only the Brave tells the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of elite firefighters who sacrifice everything to protect their town from a historic wildfire. In addition to Brolin and Teller, Only the Brave also stars Jeff Bridges, Jennifer Connelly, and Taylor Kitsch, and the film earned scores of 87% from critics and 91% from general audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Update: the first teaser has arrived ahead of a full trailer next week. See it and find the original story below.
A major summer release for Paul Thomas Anderson’s next feature was too good to be true. Warner Bros. has now delayed the film, his Vineland-inspired action/crime/comedy One Battle After Another, from an August 8, 2025 release to a September 26, 2025 bow, a similar timeframe that Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis occupied last year.
According to The Wrap, the film will still receive an IMAX release, including select theaters with 70mm along with a special release on VistaVision, a format recently used by Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist. The shift will reportedly “give the studio more time to prepare VistaVision prints and projectors for the release.”

Warner Bros. has shifted its upcoming release rescheduling, resulting in new dates for three highly-anticipated genre titles.
Weapons, Zach Cregger‘s follow-up to Barbarian, has been bumped up to August 8, 2025. Previously scheduled for January 16 of next year, the summer release shows the studio’s confidence in the project.
Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Amy Madigan, and June Diane Raphael star in the horror epic about a small community after a group of kids mysteriously disappear overnight.
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, originally due out on September 26, 2025, has been pushed to March 6, 2026; a time frame that WB has found success with big genre projects.
Inspired by Bride of Frankenstein, the monster movie stars Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening.
Flowervale Street, from It Follows writer-director David Robert Mitchell, has moved from March 13, 2026 to August 14, 2026 in an effort to take advantage of late-summer audiences.

Josh Brolin's upcoming horror movie Weapons has moved up its release date following a reshuffling at Warner Bros. Being moved up suggests that the studio is very confident in the movie, which is directed by Zach Cregger, who previously helmed the hit 2022 horror film Barbarian. The story of Weapons will follow an ensemble who reacts to the mysterious disappearances of multiple children in a small town. In addition to Brolin, the cast of the movie includes Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, and Benedict Wong.
According to Warner Bros., the studio has switched Weapons' release date from January 16, 2026 to August 8, 2025. Hans Zimmer hasn’t started to write the music for ‘Dune: Messiah’ yet.The 67-year-old composer wrote the soundtrack for director Denis Villeneuve’s first two sci-fi blockbusters, and while the filmmaker is finishing up the script for ‘Dune: Messiah’, Zimmer is still yet to put pen to paper for the upcoming flick’s score.Talking to Collider, the musician said: “‘Dune: Part Two’ was written before Denis started shooting because we weren't greenlit for the longest time. “Have I started writing [‘Messiah’]? No. Not quite yet. “Oh, god, it's a very complicated one, but I love working with Denis, so I'm actually going to just focus on that, nothing else, and just really spend the time doing it.”In January, Villeneuve admitted he was disappointed Zimmer’s score for ‘Dune: Part Two’ was disqualified from the Best Original Score honour at the 97th Academy Awards. The ‘Sicario’ filmmaker told...

Several major movies have suffered release date delays, including Oscar-winner and Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming mysterious crime thriller. Set to be helmed by Academy Award nominee Paul Thomas Anderson, the project has now been pushed back from August 8 to September 26, while Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein musical The Bride! faces an even greater delay, moving from September to March 6, 2026.

Warner Bros. is making some major changes to its release slate ahead of its CinemaCon presentation in two weeks, as five films — including Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” — see shifts on the 2025 and 2026 release schedule.
“One Battle After Another,” a crime thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, moves from an August 8 release to September 26. The film will still get its planned release on Imax screens — including select theaters with 70mm — and will now also get a special release on VistaVision, the extinct film format recently revived by the Oscar-winning drama “The Brutalist.”
Sources at Warner Bros. say the delay will give the studio more time to prepare VistaVision prints and projectors for the release. The move also situates the film in the more traditional period for awards contenders in the fall.
The film is one of several big, auteur-driven gambles for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is getting its ducks in a row before it presents its upcoming slate to theater owners at this year’s CinemaCon, which gets underway March 31 in Las Vegas.
Wednesday evening, the studio announced a number of high-profile changes to its release calendar, led by news that director Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s Frankenstein pic The Bride is relocating from Sept. 26, 2025, to March 6, 2026. The film stars Christian Bale opposite Jessie Buckley. The Bride has had a challenging postproduction period, according to sources, though others deny any challenges and note its post-process has nothing to do with the new date.
The studio says the movie is the sort of event film that will benefit from hitting theaters timed to the beginning of spring holidays and school breaks. This does not preclude the film from being an awards contender despite such an early release date.

Warner Bros has just made some razor-sharp release-date changes ahead of CinemaCon, ones that could potentially keep the Burbank, CA lot more toward the black this year than in the red.
In a year when there were four $100 million-plus auteur-driven movies — one of which, Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, recently misfired — Warners Bros distribution has taken the pressure off the studios’ schedule in that regard, and even placed a potential tentpole into the year: Zach Cregger’s anticipated genre movie Weapons on August 8.
Cregger’s next movie after Barbarian was previously scheduled for MLK weekend 2026, on January 16. What kept Warners from moving the pic starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich was that the theatrical release was tied to Imax screens — can’t give up those auditoriums. In fact, what made all of the release-date changes feasible for Warners was that each was tied to Imax bookings. As...

Warner Bros. enacted some significant housekeeping around its film release schedule on Wednesday, including a new date for the highly anticipated Paul Thomas Anderson film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Now officially titled “One Battle After Another,” the Anderson project is shrouded in mystery but said to be an American crime thriller. Previously dated for Aug. 8, the film will now open nationwide on Sept. 26.
Insiders familiar with the movie said the minor push comes as the studio helps outfit U.S. movie theaters with VistaVision projection systems to accommodate their director’s vision. A move out of August to late September also squeaks “One Battle” out of the summer box office season and places it closer to the awards corridor, Anderson’s natural habitat.. DiCaprio will costar with Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall and Teyana Taylor.

Warner Bros has confirmed that its Paul Thomas Anderson feature starring Leonardo DiCaprio is called One Battle After Another and pushed it from August onto September 26, bouncing Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! into March 2026.
This is a better awards season slot than the initial August 8 date, were the studio minded to go down that path and plan to capitalise on strong word of mouth from fall festivals. From every angle, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune film series is a masterclass in cinema. A heavy understanding of the books first penned by Frank Herbert has allowed a well-written, deeply thought-out screenplay to be penned, while performances from an ensemble cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Josh Brolin, make those words and scenes come to life. Visually, the development and shots of Arrakis and Giedi Prime make audiences feel like they’ve truly been swept away into another universe. At the beating heart of it all is an unforgettable and goosebump-inducing score composed by two-time Academy Award-winner, Hans Zimmer. The music of Dune carries so much of the story on its shoulders, and — whether it's realized by viewers or not — is constantly informing the audience how to feel from scene to scene.

Mere days after the first season of Yellowstone premiered in 2018, Taylor Sheridan penned the screenplay for a crime thriller that’s becoming a streaming hit nearly seven years later. Sheridan wrote Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which is a direct sequel to 2015’s Sicario, although it only returned Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin and not Emily Blunt and Jon Bernthal. Sicario 2 hit Paramount+ not long ago, and the film wasted no time cracking the top 10, sitting at #4 at the time of writing. Sicario 2 earned scores of 62% from critics and 66% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, which falls well below the 92% and 85% scores of the original. Matthew Modine, Isabela Merced, and Catherine Keener also star in Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

More than 60 years after shows like The Rifleman and Gunsmoke aired on television, westerns and neo-westerns are once again popular amongst audiences. But, with so many options now available on TV and online, it may be difficult to choose which series to watch.
Today’s best westerns (not to be confused with the hotel chain) capture the feel of early entries in the genre while staying relevant by incorporating modern dialogue and sociopolitical topics. This has allowed the genre to reach a wider variety of viewers than it might have otherwise done in the 1950s and ‘60s.

While Netflix's slick but empty "The Electric State" has added to an already bleak streaming landscape, Jake Gyllenhaal is having nothing short of a streaming renaissance. Gyllenhaal's creepy sci-fi horror "Life" is a hit on Prime Video at the same time his and Michael Peña's action thriller is crushing it over on Max. Now, yet another Gyllenhaal-led thriller is ascending the Netflix charts, meaning the actor has claimed a spot in the rankings of the biggest streamer in the game at the same time he's dominating rival platforms — though he's had a bit of help with his latest streaming triumph.
2015's "Everest" is a survival thriller based on the real 1996 Mount Everest disaster that saw eight climbers lose their lives while trying to reach the highest point on Earth. The movie follows two expedition groups who are hit by a freak storm on their way to the top of the titular mountain.

Joseph Kosinski has been building an impressive filmography over the last 15 years as a director. After working on videos, Kosinski would direct his first feature film in 2010, with the sequel Tron: Legacy. Though it received mixed reviews, the film's iconic soundtrack and distinctive visual layout would renew interest in the Tron franchise nearly 30 years after the Jeff Bridges original. This year, the series will continue with Tron: Ares, but Kosinski will not be directing.
The director came into prominence when he helmed Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Continuing a career trend starting with his feature film debut, the movie was a long-awaited sequel to an '80s movie. And it was a huge success. Top Gun: Maverick received rave reviews, and grossed just under $1.5 billion, becoming the second-highest grossing movie of 2022 (losing only to James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water). The film also received multiple Oscar nominations, winning Best Sound.
