It's official — Westerns are in. After a couple of decades when cowboys have seen diminishing returns on the big screen, the classic film genre has been returning in a big way. Nearly 30 years ago, The X-Files aired an episode so controversial that it not only became infamous for its disturbing content but also left a permanent scar on a generation of viewers. Premiering in 1993, the series became a cultural phenomenon, offering viewers a chance to explore the unexplained alongside FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. However, one episode stood out for being more disturbing than ever. What made it so disturbing its that it pushed all the boundaries of what was acceptable for primetime TV. Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki’s 1997 anime film Princess Mononoke returns to cinemas in a new way later this month. Gkids announced plans to screen the new 4K restoration, which Ghibli’s own Atsushi Okui oversaw, exclusively in IMAX in North America. Screenings kick off in the United States and Canada on March 26 as part of an ongoing celebration of Ghibli’s 40th anniversary. David E. Kelley's unusual primetime drama "Picket Fences" debuted on CBS in 1992, and it was, like a lot of media of the 1990s, an aggressive takedown of the previous generation's tropes. The title, "Picket Fences," was meant to evoke the placid serenity of the post-War Baby Boom, describing a common yard feature in the then-new 1950s suburbs. The series, however, took place in Rome, Wisconsin, a place that was anything but placid. The stories surrounded bleak and sometimes unexplained crimes, and the show regularly tackled sensitive and political topics like abortion, sexual assault, polyamory, and the place of faith in the modern world.

Almost nothing in The Age of Disclosure is “new,” per se. The documentary uses 34 talking heads from various levels of the government, military and intelligence community to allege a deep state conspiracy covering up interactions with non-human intelligent life and technology of non-human origin going back 80 years. Many of the people in the documentary have testified before Congress about what they say they know, and more than a couple of them have been in previous documentaries and docuseries recounting their stories with the same level of personal conviction.

The X-Files is a seminal '90s sci-fi show that popularized UFOs, government conspiracies, and attractive FBI agents. One of its hallmarks was its monster-of-the-week stories, which would typically consist of FBI agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating a unique creature or villain in a standalone episode unrelated to the greater mythology of the series. Per Variety, Fisher is one of multiple new additions to the Animals cast, joining in an undisclosed role. The Boys from Brazil is a thriller novel by Ira Levin, published in 1976. It tells the story of Yakov Liebermann, a Nazi hunter who uncovers a shocking plan. Dr. Josef Mengele, a Nazi war criminal, has created clones of Adolf Hitler and placed them with families to recreate Hitler’s childhood. Liebermann must stop the plan before history repeats itself.

In 1978, The Boys from Brazil was made into a movie. It was directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and written by Ira Levin and Heywood Gould. The film starred Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier, and James Mason. It was popular and got three Academy Award nominations.

Now, Netflix wants to remake the movie into a show. We don’t know much about the project but Jeremy Strong was already confirmed to be part of the remake back in February of this year.

In the "The X-Files" episode "First Person Shooter", Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are called to investigate a seemingly fatal virtual reality video game. Anyone flinging pencils at the ceiling while keeping one eye on the SAG Awards on Sunday night would no doubt have bolted upright at the sight of The X-Filesco-stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who gave fans an unexpected reunion when they appeared onstage at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles to present an award together.

As reported by The Mirror, the actors presented the award for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series, which went to FX's Shōgun, but not before the pair exchanged some back-and-forth banter, reminiscent of their days as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on The X-Files. Duchovny kicked proceedings off by introducing the award with a quick quip: "'Ensemble,' I believe that's a French word that means: 'Thank God I only have to work three days a week.'"

The SAG Awards, which was livestreaming tonight on Netflix from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, paid tribute to actor’s roots in everything from soap operas to commercials to Law & Order. It also spotlighted reunions galore, including for series New Girl, Gossip Girl, The X Files and The Good Place (a la Challengers), as well as Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

The fete kicked off with a surprise reunion between host Kristen Bell and The Good Place co-stars Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper, who paid homage to the steamy triumvirate in Luca Guadagnino’s tennis drama Challengers.

On Sunday, The X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunited at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. And they nearly ruined their moment in the spotlight when they opened up the winner's envelope for the Best Drama Ensemble category before ever announcing the nominees.

"Ensemble," Duchovny began after stepping out on stage. "I think that's a French word that means, 'Thank God I only have to work three days a week.' It's great to see you, Gillian. You look ..."

Anderson finished his sentence: "Younger than you last saw me when we shot 218 episodes?"

Duchovny and Anderson talked about "what makes great drama," and then answered at different times, "Timing" and "Chemistry," respectively.

When the audience only gave them a mild chuckle, Anderson shouted, "We still got it! Hilarious! We did that so well."

And Duchovny added, "Let's get out of here as soon as we can.

It’s the actors’ turn to speak. The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Award got underway on Sunday night, with the Hollywood guild members awarding what they feel where the best performances and ensembles of the year across film and television.

Ben Affleck is thrilled about his latest role, and it’s not just because of the script! The actor, who recently split from Jennifer Lopez, is set to star alongside The X-Files legend Gillian Anderson in Netflix’s upcoming thriller Animals—and he’s always had a soft spot for her.

An insider told RadarOnline.com that Affleck is buzzing about stepping into the lead role, which originally belonged to his longtime friend Matt Damon.

“Ben’s got quite the tale brewing about stepping in for Matt, claiming it’s all down to ‘scheduling,'” the source said. “Sure, the film’s been pushed back, but the buzz is that they’re rolling cameras by late March! And guess what? Everyone can’t stop gushing about the sizzling chemistry between Gillian and Ben.“

Affleck is reportedly a huge fan of Anderson: “He’s totally starstruck by her!” the insider added.

The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are set to take place Sunday, February 23 at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, in a ceremony streaming live on Netflix.

The ceremony, to be hosted by Kristen Bell, is the last major Hollywood guild to reveal its winners ahead of the Oscars on March 2. Five movies nominated for the Best Picture Oscar are also nominated in SAG’s marquee Ensemble Cast category Sunday: A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave, Emilia Pérez and Wicked.

Last year, Oppenheimer won SAG’s Ensemble prize on its way to winning seven Oscars including Best Picture.

Chatter about strains in the relationship between Broccoli-Wilson and Jeff Bezos’ behemoth had long been in the ether and only a few weeks ago the Wall Street Journal published a deep-dive titled ‘James Bond Outdueled Goldfinger and Dr. No. Can He Win a Battle With Amazon?’, which publicized these difficulties. But this week’s mega-deal, which our U.

Bryan Fuller is the co-creator of Star Trek: Discovery and originally in charge of the casting. As I've previously written, he wanted Laurence Fishburne to play a Klingon on ther series and had some other differences in mind, too, like Paul Stamets [Anthony Rapp] being an Andorian.

Another actor he was reportedly in talks with to play a Starfleet captain was Gillian Anderson, better known as Dana Scully from The X-Files. [via Screenrant] An Emmy-Award winner, Anderson also portrayed Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, Hannibal's psychotherapist on Hannibal, a series that was developed by Fuller. It seems he had an idea to bring most of the cast of Hannibal aboard Discovery.
