Marty Callner, director of dozens of classic MTV-era music videos as well as numerous comedy specials and creator of HBO’s Hard Knocks, has peacefully passed away at his home in Malibu. He died on March 17 of natural causes and surrounded by loved ones, according to his son, Jazz. He was 78.

Callner is a 12-time Emmy nominee and two-time CableACE Award winner. He has also been nominated for three DGA Awards and one MTV Music Video Award.

His career as a director of music videos started with Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Going to Take it,” followed by Pat Benatar’s “We Belong,” both of which saw near-constant play on MTV in their heyday.

What followed were hundreds more, including Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time,” a slew of Aerosmith hits including “Cryin’,” “Crazy”, “Amazing,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dude Looks Like A Lady” and “Love in an Elevator.

He also helmed a number of the most iconic music videos like Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” and a number of the biggest hair metal era tunes including Aerosmith’s “Cryin’,” “Crazy,” “Amazing,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dude Looks Like a Lady” and “Love in an Elevator,” along with Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again.”

On top of all those music and stand-up comedy accolades, Callner is also responsible for creating the HBO docuseries “Hard Knocks” that focuses on a different NFL team’s trials and tribulations through training camp each season.

Lenny Schultz, the high-energy comedian known for his wild stage antics, unconventional props, and physical humor, has died at the age of 91. His son, Mark Schultz, confirmed that he passed away on Sunday of natural causes at his home in Delray Beach, Florida.

Schultz made a name for himself with an unpredictable performance style that involved food, props, and absurdist routines, often leaving audiences in hysterics. His influence could be seen in later comedians such as Robin Williams, Gallagher, Carrot Top, and Sam Kinison. Fans would regularly chant “Go crazy, Lenny!” during his shows, a phrase that encapsulated his comedic philosophy.

“They would go nuts, the people,” Schultz recalled in a 2017 interview. “It was very hard to follow my act because I’m doing silly and crazy things.”

Born in the Bronx on December 13, 1933, Schultz originally pursued a career in baseball and was offered a minor-league contract with the New York Yankees.

It’s time to look at the work of one of the greatest directors of our generation: Christopher Nolan. How big is Nolan these days? Interstellar, a movie which was never among the director’s top grossers, hit IMAX screens last week for its tenth anniversary, and screenings have been selling out constantly. The fact is – Nolan makes movies that belong on the big-screen, and he’s one of the few directors who’s arguably become his own franchise. For proof of that, one need only look at the fact that he’s planning a new movie, and the cast is jampacked with A-listers, because Everyone wants to work with Nolan.

A caveat – our Christopher Nolan movies ranked list is just one person’s opinion, and his work is divisive. Everyone has their favourites (and least favourites), so I’m hoping this ranking will open up some discussion in the comments below.

He is also known for his nine stints as host of the Academy Awards, a number that is second only to Bob Hope's 18. Marc Maron has a new stand-up comedy special coming to HBO later this year.

The special, which Variety hears consists of material from his “All In” tour, will be filmed in New York City in May.

The comedy hour will be Maron’s sixth stand-up special and comes two years after his latest for HBO, “From Bleak to Dark,” in which Maron discussed the death of his partner, Lynn Shelton, who died of cancer during the pandemic.

Maron is perhaps best-known for his podcast “Wtf With Marc Maron,” which launched in 2009 and has become one of the most famous podcasts in the country, with more than 1,600 episodes. On it, he’s interviewed everyone from Barack Obama to Keith Richards to Carol Burnett. Gene Hackman, the legendary everyman actor who won two Oscars before stepping away from Hollywood in 2004, and Hackman’s wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe, N.M., home on Wednesday. Hackman was 95. Arakawa, whom he married in 1991, was 64.

While authorities did not suspect foul play, the deaths of Hackman and Arakawa have been ruled suspicious. A detective's affidavit stated that "an open prescription bottle scattered pills" were found on a bathroom counter near Arakawa's body. One of the couple’s dog, a German shepherd, was found dead in the bathroom closet, about 15 feet from Arakawa. Two other family dogs were found alive.

A maintenance worker discovered the bodies on Wednesday. Arakawa was found in the bathroom near a space heater. Her body showed signs of decomposition, per the detective report. Hackman's body, in a similar state, was found in the mud room appearing as if he had "suddenly fallen.

Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home on Wednesday, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed. A cause of death for the Oscar-winning actor, 95, and his wife, 64, was not revealed but Mendoza said no foul play was suspected.

An investigation into their deaths is ongoing. According to Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Denise Womack-Avila, the couple was found dead at around 1:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday after a neighbor called in a welfare check, per Albuquerque’s KOB4.

Hackman and Arakawa, a classical pianist, married in 1991. Their dog was also found deceased.

While there were no visible signs of foul play, investigators deemed their deaths “suspicious” after finding “no obvious signs of a gas leak” and the front door of their home “unsecured and opened.”

Hackman was born in San Bernardino, California on January 30th, 1930. Lying about his age, he enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was just 16, serving four years as a field radio operator before being stationed in China, Hawaii, and Japan. He was discharged in 1951.

As he began to pursue an acting career, Hackman joined the historic Pasadena Playhouse, where he met fellow aspiring actor Dustin Hoffman.

The Masked Singer is back!

A new episode of season 13 of the hit Fox singing competition series aired on Wednesday night (February 26).

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season includes the new costumed character Detective Lucky Duck, who will help panelists “uncover who’s behind each mask.”

During the episode, Group A contestants Ant, Coral, and Paparazzo returned to the stage for their second performance of the season.
