Marlon Wayans reunites with his brother and nephew onscreen on the Monday, March 24 episode of Poppa’s House. Working with Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. was a breeze, he tells TV Insider, as is always the case with this family of stars. Watching his older brother work reminded Marlon that Damon Sr. is a comedic “genius” and “the quintessential artist” of the Wayans family. “My brother Damon is probably my all-time favorite artist,” Marlon shares. “Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Damon. I love Jim Carrey. I love Robin Williams. I love guys that can do it all. And my brother Damon is, to me, the quintessential artist in the family because he’s fearless in discovering all the different levels of skill that he has. And that takes time and takes energy. Watching Damon do standup inspired me to do standup. Actually, it intimidated me to do standup for a long time.

Plot: A group of college students embark on an investigation into the legendary Sailor Man. Unfortunately for them, they find him.
Review: He’s Popeye the Sailor Man! For decades, the animated character has delighted young fans. From the cartoons to the live-action Popeye featuring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall, he is an iconic and beloved character. And just like Winnie the Pooh, the copyrights have lapsed, sending the spinach-guzzling hero into the Public Domain. And my, oh my, Popeye is kinda pissed. With his puffy, bloated face and ridiculously cartoonish arms, Jason Robert Stephens is undoubtedly having a good time killing off numerous victims in wacky ways.
Popeye the Slayer Man is what you’d expect from a B-movie horror flick. It tells of the local legend rumored to be stalking the abandoned Anchor Bay Cannery – look for more than a few fun Easter Eggs. After plans surface that...

As my tastes change and I get a chance to watch more and more movies, largely due to wonderful companies like Severin, Vinegar Syndrome, and Synapse putting out forgotten or lost movies, this also changes what I’m willing to call a Black Sheep. The Howling series is kind of a Black Sheep series in horror. It has 8 films over a 30-year span from 1981 to 2011 and while the first one is typically held in high esteem because of its pedigree, and, well, because its good, there’s a lot to watch and unpack here. You can look at which movie is the black sheep of the series but let’s get even more granular with it. Let’s look at which of the two Howling movies directed by Phillipe Mora deserves the moniker. While the third one has that specific Ozploitation flair to it that admittedly I am an easy mark for,...

Ever since he directed Robert Redford to one of his richest, most compelling performances in “The Natural,” Barry Levinson has had a knack for bringing out the best in iconic movie stars. Warren Beatty (“Bugsy”), Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, and Michael Douglas and Demi Moore (“Disclosure”), among many others, have done some of their finest work for Levinson in movies that capitalize on their strengths but provide opportunities to deepen and broaden their personas.
Even in this company, the relationship between Levinson and Robert De Niro is special. Since they first worked together on “Sleepers” in 1996, Levinson and De Niro have created a series of indelible characters, from the spin doctor of “Wag the Dog” and the beleaguered producer of “What Just Happened?” to real-life fraudster Bernie Madoff in “The Wizard of Lies.” These were all just a warm-up, however, for Levinson and De Niro’s latest collaboration “The Alto Knights...

If you’re a fan of cinema, you’ll know the name Christopher Nolan. The director is one of the very few modern filmmakers who still gets to bring bold, creative visions to life on a blockbuster scale. The reigning champ of the intellectual box office hit, Nolan has enjoyed a storied career in Hollywood thanks to his consistency in producing pulse-pounding cinema that also has the capacity to make you think. His obsession with the theme of time, invisible special effects, and multi-layered plot structures have dazzled film viewers for decades at this point.
Nolan studied English Literature, believe it or not, at University College London. While at university, he was the president of the Film Society and met his wife and future producing partner, Emma Thomas, on campus. His first feature film was 1998’s “Following,” but his career really took off with the groundbreaking “Memento” (2000). The Guy Pearce...

Lenny Schultz, the high-energy comedian known for his wild stage antics, unconventional props, and physical humor, has died at the age of 91. His son, Mark Schultz, confirmed that he passed away on Sunday of natural causes at his home in Delray Beach, Florida.
Schultz made a name for himself with an unpredictable performance style that involved food, props, and absurdist routines, often leaving audiences in hysterics. His influence could be seen in later comedians such as Robin Williams, Gallagher, Carrot Top, and Sam Kinison. Fans would regularly chant “Go crazy, Lenny!” during his shows, a phrase that encapsulated his comedic philosophy.
“They would go nuts, the people,” Schultz recalled in a 2017 interview. “It was very hard to follow my act because I’m doing silly and crazy things.”
Born in the Bronx on December 13, 1933, Schultz originally pursued a career in baseball and was offered a minor-league contract with the New York Yankees.

Lenny Schultz, the frenetic stand-up comic who used food and other stuff as props in a madcap act that took him to The Tonight Show and the rebooted Laugh-In — all as he kept his job as a high school gym teacher — has died. He was 91.
Schultz died Sunday of natural causes at his home in Delray Beach, Florida, his son, Mark Schultz, told The Hollywood Reporter.
With a physical brand of humor later embraced by the likes of Robin Williams, Gallagher, Carrot Top and Sam Kinison, the curly haired Schultz would compile a list of admirers that included David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Billy Crystal, Brett Butler and Jon Stewart. Audiences at his shows would yell “Go crazy, Lenny!” and that’s what he — and his fans — would do.

It’s time to look at the work of one of the greatest directors of our generation: Christopher Nolan. How big is Nolan these days? Interstellar, a movie which was never among the director’s top grossers, hit IMAX screens last week for its tenth anniversary, and screenings have been selling out constantly. The fact is – Nolan makes movies that belong on the big-screen, and he’s one of the few directors who’s arguably become his own franchise. For proof of that, one need only look at the fact that he’s planning a new movie, and the cast is jampacked with A-listers, because Everyone wants to work with Nolan.
A caveat – our Christopher Nolan movies ranked list is just one person’s opinion, and his work is divisive. Everyone has their favourites (and least favourites), so I’m hoping this ranking will open up some discussion in the comments below.

The years since have seen her star in everything from Spike Lee's He Got Gameto Ben Stiller's Zoolander and its sequel, as well as David Harbour's Hellboy reboot.
Her most notable project to date, however, remains that of the Resident Evil movie franchise, an adaptation of Capcom's survival horror video game series of the same name. Terrified of ticking clocks and of growing old, Captain Hook may be one of the most misunderstood villains in classic literature. Disney's 1953 animated film, Peter Pan, remains a classic. Since then, there have been countless iterations of the story and of Captain Hook, including getting his own movie in the 1991 comedy adventure, Hook, starring Dustin Hoffmanand Robin Williams. There was also the recent 2023 film, Peter Pan & Wendy, with Jude Lawstepping into the shoes of the infamous pirate. But no performance has ever been so effective or sympathetic as Jason Isaacs's portrayal of Captain Hook in 2003's live-action, Peter Pan.

Nathan Lane remembers working with the late Gene Hackman on “The Birdcage” as “the thrill of a lifetime.” Sitting with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” Tuesday, the actor shared that one of the more memorable scenes between their characters in the 1996 Mike Nichols movie actually featured unscripted ad-libs that made it all the more memorable.
“I think I told him every morning that he was my favorite actor … He was like Spencer Tracy, you couldn’t catch him acting. He could do comedy or drama beautifully. And he was such a smart actor,” Lane told Colbert before recalling the scene where his character — who is in drag — and Hackman’s sing and dance to “I Could Have Danced All Night” from “My Fair Lady.”
“And then at the end, we’re leaving the scene, we’re going into dinner, and I ad-libbed, I said, ‘You know I played Eliza in high school?...

Mimi Cave's Dutch-obsessed thriller Holland assumes you've never seen Fargo, the movies that inspired Fargo, any Fargo knockoff, or a solitary small-town murder mystery. It's excruciatingly boring and at no point unexpected. Clogs and windmills aren't idiosyncratic lifesavers when your movie boasts no voice, strikes no mood, or achieves no captivation. Andrew Sodorski's screenplay topped the 2013 Blacklist, and Cave's prior cannibal derangement Fresh is a savory hoot, but neither accomplishment shines through this dead-on-arrival Coen Brothers wannabe.

Not many actors can say they've had a career as impressive and diverse as Robin Williams. While he could knock comedic roles like Mrs. Doubtfire out of the park, Williams also delivered some amazing dramatic performances, especially with the cinematic masterpiece that is Good Will Hunting. Sometimes he could even be downright terrifying when the occasion called for it. Williams delivered what might be one of his best performances in his final film, Boulevard.

War movies concerning the Vietnam War encompass the specific traits that make them easily distinguishable from other films within the war genre. The majority of Golden Era war movies, which heavily depicted World War II, feature propagandistic angles and hero-worshipping sentiments that reflected the nation's attitudes at the time. While World War II movies may dominate the genre, there are plenty of stunning films about the Vietnam War, from the unconventional Good Morning, Vietnam to the landmark Apocalypse Now.
Vietnam War movies are more reflective of the counter-culture era, containing anti-establishment views, addressing the psychological effects war has on soldiers, and preaching anti-war themes. Internationally, countries such as Hong Kong have produced important works about the Vietnam War that provide an added perspective toward fully understanding the implications of the conflict worldwide. Film and literary history are rich with examples of the wild things people would do for love.Romeo and Julietsees cursed young lovers choose death instead of being separated. Troy has nations go to war over Helen (Diane Kruger). The John Wick franchise follows Keanu Reeves's assassin as he massacres essentially everyone for the love of a woman and a dog. Chris (Robin Williams) broke into Hell for Annie (Annabella Sciorra) in What Dreams May Come. In Novocaine, an action comedy from Significant Other directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, love causes a man to risk his whole life for love, with one catch: thanks to a useful but dangerous medical condition, he can’t feel pain. Batman: Revolution is a sequel to 2024’s Batman: Resurrection, also written by Miller. Both books take place between Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). The story is inspired by Burton’s canceled third Batman film, which at one point was rumored to star Robin Williams as The Riddler.
It’s summer, and Gotham City has cause for celebration. The last vestiges of The Joker’s toxic legacy have finally faded, just in time for the mayor to partner with retail magnate Max Shreck to stage a Fourth of July celebration for the ages. But not everyone is rejoicing. Batman’s eternal vigilance continues as threats from...

About eight or so years back, my dad started forgetting things. It was harmless at first, like losing an item he thought he’d put somewhere, but then it became more worrying. He’d get lost on his way home from work — a route he’d taken countless times before — and would have lapses where he could no longer recall names or where he was and what he was doing. As a doctor, he knew something wasn’t right, but other medical professionals failed to diagnose it as anything other than typical cognitive decline. He was in his 70s after all.
But as Covid hit and time moved on, it only got worse. His whole body started exhibiting signs of deterioration, ranging from hand tremors to his gait becoming lumbered. Finally, around two years ago, a name could be put to this cruelty: Parkinson’s with Lewy Body dementia. If this sounds familiar to some,...

Remember the scene in Mrs. Doubtfire when Robin Williams speared Pierce Brosnan through the skull with a broom handle, killing him instantly?
No? Well, then you must not be from Accra.
One of the greatest blessings of Hollywood’s international cultural dominance over the last century has been seeing how every movie market across the world chooses to localize American blockbusters to fit the tastes and idiosyncrasies of a foreign audience. And while American movie studios certainly have a history of pulling some outlandish stunts to get butts in seats over here in the homeland, the advertising campaigns for movies within the U.S. are comically tame when compared to how other countries get the attention of moviegoers. For instance, did you know that the French distributor of Cool Runnings changed the title of the film to Rasta Rocket?

Billy Crystal is famed as an actor, stand-up comic, writer, producer, director, television host and avid New York Yankees fan. He is also known for his nine stints as host of the Academy Awards, a number that is second only to Bob Hope's 18. Although Crystal will always be associated with Oscar, the irony is that he has never been nominated for an Oscar himself.
Still, that doesn't mean he's any stranger to awards. Crystal has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and hosted the show three times. He won a special Tony Award in 2005 for his one-man show "700 Sundays" and earned two Emmy nominations for the television adaptation of that production. In fact, Crystal, who first broke TV taboos playing a gay character on ABC's "Soap" in the 1970s, has along the way received 24 Emmy nominations, winning six, including two for hosting the Oscar ceremony.

One of the biggest What ifs in comic book movie history is Tim Burton’s abandoned third Batman movie. We know a little bit about Batman Continues, like Michelle Pfeiffer set to reprise Catwoman, the director eyeing Robin Williams to play the Riddler and the emergence of Two-Face. But considering Burton wasn’t really making McDonald’s-friendly Batman movies, he would leave and make us suffer through Batman Forever. But a new book arriving later this year will put readers back in Tim Burton’s Gotham, wondering what might have happened had things worked out for Batman Continues.

How did I get this gig?” the comedian and podcaster questioned. Maron didn’t even talk about his failed audition for the show and subsequent “obsession” with Lorne Michaels.
But Maron did chat about the comedy icon who was one of the most memorable early guests on Wtf: the late great Robin Williams. Maron recalled that the episode took on another life following Williams’ death in 2014. “It was everywhere because he never talked like that (in interviews),” Maron told Carvey and Spade.

Hosting the Oscar Awards, aka the biggest night of Hollywood, must be nerve-wracking for the emcees. This is a platform where even time-proven, seasoned hosts stumble. So one can only imagine how anxiety-inducing it would be for the first timers.

However, there have been a few who have not only braved the industry royalties when they were possibly in their most high-strung states for the first time, but also marked their names in history as the best in the game.
Neil Patrick Harris, and Robin Williams have been appreciated for pulling off that feat for years. Interestingly, Oscar 2025 host Conan O’Brien has added his name to that exclusive list with his gripping monologue.

The Oscars event is marked by some incredible performances from artists, especially those who are nominated in the Best Original Song category. The 97th edition of the Academy Awards has decided to let go of the usual Oscars performances of the best original song nominees this year.
The decision was made as a response to the Los Angeles wildfires. Fans are not exactly upset about the decision since the Best Original Song category lacked any numbers that the audiences look forward to seeing on the stage. Fans would especially find it in bad taste to see one of the two nominated songs from Emilia Pérez on stage after the controversy associated with the film.

The world has lost an absolute legend, with Gene Hackman having passed away at the age of 95. The Oscar-winning actor was best known for his more dramatic performances, including those in classic films like "The French Connection" and "Unforgiven," among many others. That being said, Hackman did occasionally work on more comedic material, with "Young Frankenstein" ranking as another classic cut from that cloth. But perhaps his most famous comedic role came in 1996 with "The Birdcage."
In case you need a reminder (or are not familiar), "The Birdcage" stars Robin Williams as Armand, a gay Miami nightclub owner who pretends to be a straight man while hosting his very conservative future in-laws, including his future daughter-in-law Barbara (Calista Flockhart), at a meet-and-greet dinner party. 1996’s The Birdcage famously starred Robin Williams and Nathan Lane as a nightclub-owning gay couple forced to entertain their son’s girlfriend’s parents: who happen to be a far-right Republican Senator and his wife, played by Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest.
It certainly seemed progressive for the ‘90s, but in retrospect, the film does have its issues. Which isn’t too surprising, considering that it’s nearly 30 years old. But some of those problems may be explained by director Mike Nichols’ approach to the material.

Gene Hackman, the legendary everyman actor who won two Oscars before stepping away from Hollywood in 2004, and Hackman’s wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe, N.M., home on Wednesday. Hackman was 95. Arakawa, whom he married in 1991, was 64.
While authorities did not suspect foul play, the deaths of Hackman and Arakawa have been ruled suspicious. A detective's affidavit stated that "an open prescription bottle scattered pills" were found on a bathroom counter near Arakawa's body. One of the couple’s dog, a German shepherd, was found dead in the bathroom closet, about 15 feet from Arakawa. Two other family dogs were found alive.
A maintenance worker discovered the bodies on Wednesday. Arakawa was found in the bathroom near a space heater. Her body showed signs of decomposition, per the detective report. Hackman's body, in a similar state, was found in the mud room appearing as if he had "suddenly fallen.

Gene Hackman, the two-time Academy Award-winning actor known for his roles in films like The French Connection and Unforgiven, has died at the age of 95.
Hackman, his wife Betsy, and their dog were found dead at their home in New Mexico on Wednesday after deputies performed a welfare check, according to CNN. While there were no visible signs of foul play, investigators deemed their deaths “suspicious” after finding “no obvious signs of a gas leak” and the front door of their home “unsecured and opened.”
Hackman was born in San Bernardino, California on January 30th, 1930. Lying about his age, he enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was just 16, serving four years as a field radio operator before being stationed in China, Hawaii, and Japan. He was discharged in 1951.
As he began to pursue an acting career, Hackman joined the historic Pasadena Playhouse, where he met fellow aspiring actor Dustin Hoffman.
