There have been a lot of rough DC Comics movies but which ones are truly the worst of the worst?
DC started early on the superhero movie trend with 1978’s Superman and later 1989’s Batman. However, despite successes like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, the Dceu faltered compared to the MCU. Somehow, Warner Bros and DC couldn’t make it all work right and it all came to a lame ending.
There have been some pretty poor to outright bad movies based on DC Comics such as Batman v Superman or The Flash. However, there are several films that stand out for how truly awful they are and leave us thinking they shouldn't have happened. They waste great casts and story potential while also being just flat-out terrible movies.
Here are how the ten worst DC Comics movies rank and marvel (no pun intended) on how badly they botched these characters.

When people talk about iconic duos in cinema, they tend to bring pairings like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and Al Pacino and Robert De Niro to the table. However, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig are the ones I think about when asked to name an iconic duet. I’ve been asking the cinematic gods above for a new film starring two of my favorite Looney Tunes for years. This year, we’ve got The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, an animated send-up to the science-fiction films of yesteryear starring Daffy, Porky, and Petunia. What could be better than that for an old Looney Tunes head like me? Interviewing Eric Bauza and Candi Milo (Petunia Pig), the voice actors behind characters that helped pour the foundation of an entertainment art form I love more than any other genre.

Matt Damon is one of Hollywood’s finest, seamlessly slipping into roles that range from a stranded astronaut to a ruthless spy. Whether he’s outwitting enemies as Jason Bourne or cracking equations in Good Will Hunting, Damon has built a career that’s as versatile as it is impressive. With undeniable charisma and acting chops that never fail to deliver, he has carved out a space in the industry that few can match.
Starting his career with a small role in Mystic Pizza (1988), Damon’s breakthrough came with The Rainmaker (1996), setting the stage for his legendary rise. But it was his Oscar-winning screenplay and lead role in Good Will Hunting that truly put him on the map. Since then, he’s been unstoppable, headlining blockbusters and critical hits alike.

Ben Affleck remains one of the most recognizable actors working in Hollywood. Some of his most notable early movies include Dazed and Confused (1993), Chasing Amy (1997), and Good Will Hunting (1997), the last of which won him and Matt Damon a Best Screenplay Oscar. With the release of Michael Bay's Armageddon in 1998, though, Affleck became more than just a talented actor – he became a movie star.
Following Armageddon, Affleck played the lead in Pearl Harbor (2001) before playing iconic Tom Clancy hero Jack Ryan in The Sum of All Fears (2002). That led to the infamous Daredevil in 2003, which was not well-received, but Affleck remained a compelling leading man, appearing in hits like The Town (2010), Argo (2012), and Gone Girl (2014). He even went on to earn praise for his performance as Batman in several Dcu movies. Not long after his debut as the iconic Caped Crusader, though, Affleck appeared in an action thriller that...

Zack Snyder thanked the fans for making the Snyder Cut happen, four years after it was released. He's humbled to know his Justice League movie exists, acknowledging its troubled production.
Zack Snyder's Justice League celebrates its 4th anniversary this year, thanks to its dedicated fan base; Snyder took to X to thank everyone responsible for that success. "It's been 4 years," he wrote. "Still humbled by the fact that this exists at all. Big thanks to all of you that made it happen. If you have a spare 4 hours, go give it a watch on Max." The post spurred overwhelming support, with many requesting that Snyder finish the saga in the comments. His original vision for the Dceu was a five-film arc fleshed out by Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and a Justice League trilogy.

This year’s South by Southwest Film and TV Festival was a more star-studded affair than ever. Big movie stars from Nicole Kidman to Ben Affleck and Jenna Ortega descended on the city of Austin, TX to celebrate the premieres of their latest projects. Meanwhile, the festival also served as an exciting showcase of some of the most promising up-and-coming talents in the indie film scene.
From blockbusters to indie gems, this writer saw a total of 51 movies at this year’s SXSW Film and TV Festival. Although narrowing it down to our top ten was challenging, we have decided which films we think you don’t want to miss — whether they come out a few weeks from now or are still looking for a distribution deal.
And if you keep reading after our top 10, you’ll catch some of our additional thoughts on other films that we saw at this year’s festival.

Gal Gadot rose to prominence with her debut in Fast & Furious (2009) with her relatively small role in the fourth film of the franchise. Her recurring role in the subsequent Fast films made her a familiar face but it wasn’t until Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) that she attained fame and popularity unparalleled on a global scale.

More than a year after Warner Bros. shelved “Coyote vs. Acme” for tax incentives, the Looney Tunes-inspired film is close to finding a new home.
Ketchup Entertainment is expected to land distribution rights for “Coyote vs. Acme.” Thought the sale has not closed, the price tag is reportedly in the $50 million range, according to Deadline, which broke the news.
Ketchup Entertainment, an independent distributor, recently spearheaded the theatrical release of “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” after Warner Bros. Discovery decided to shop that film as well. “The Day the Earth Blew Up” opened in theaters on March 14 and has grossed $3.9 million at the domestic box office to date.

Coyote vs. Acme, the film that ignited social media when Warner Bros. canceled it for a tax write-off, may see the light of day after all. Indie outfit Ketchup Entertainment is eyeing the rights to the film, which stars Will Forte and John Cena opposite an animated Wile E. Coyote.
Ketchup and Warners have been discussing a roughly $50 million deal for some time that would put the project in theaters in 2026, though it’s still unclear if it will close. Warner Bros. declined to comment.
Ketchup has a history putting Looney Tunes movies in theaters. It distributed The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie after Warner Bros. Discovery opted to shop the film rather than release it itself. Released wide last weekend, it has earned $5.5 million globally.
Ketchup has also backed projects such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Ben Affleck starrer Hypnotic and Michael Mann’s Ferrari.

Exclusive: Warner Bros’ shelved movie Coyote vs. Acme finally might have found a new home with the studio deep in sale negotiations, we can reveal.
Gareth West’s distributor-financier Ketchup Entertainment is negotiating an all-rights acquisition in the $50 million range for the animated/live-action hybrid project. Ketchup last year rescued the same studio’s The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.
The pact isn’t finalized and there’s still a chance it doesn’t make, but it’s heading in the right direction. Should it get over the line, the film would get a theatrical release in 2026.
The deal would mark a significant and record outlay for Ketchup, whose previous releases have included Michael Keaton starrer Goodrich, comic book reboot Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Ben Affleck thriller Hypnotic, and Michel Franco’s Jessica Chastain drama Memory.

For a film that you would be hard-pressed to find on a list of Dwayne Johnson’s best movies, Snitch is one of those movies that just keeps coming back time and time again on free streaming platforms. This time, the 2013 movie has resurfaced on Tubi and has been holding strong mid-top 10 for the best part of a week.
Snitch centers on John Matthews (Johnson), a father whose teenage son lands in prison after unwittingly accepting a package filled with illegal substances. The tough sentencing guidelines mean a hefty prison sentence, but Matthews offers to infiltrate a dangerous cartel on behalf of the DEA, all in hopes of reducing his son’s sentence. Unlike Johnson’s usual roles that are all about brutal showdowns and brute strength, this time he relies more on his emotions and has to play a role that relies on more than his muscles.

At least, we think that’s what Jen’s trying to tell us?

On March 18, 2021, Zack Snyder's Justice League premiered on HBO Max. While it did little to sway the filmmaker's detractors, most DC fans seemed to agree that it was a huge improvement over Joss Whedon's 2017 theatrical cut.
Warner Bros. allowed Snyder to add new scenes to the movie, many of which set the stage for his unmade sequels. Then, there were the teases already in there from back when he was essentially in charge of the DC Extended Universe.
Four years later and over two years after DC Studios was formed to reboot the Dceu as the Dcu, it's pretty obvious Snyder's Justice League sequels won't happen. It's hard to say why we've never got an animated or comic book follow-up, but in this feature, we're taking a closer look at the biggest unresolved plot threads and what, if anything, has been revealed about the filmmaker's intentions for them.

I was lucky to attend SXSW in Austin, Texas this year. It marked my first time attending what’s quickly leapfrogged up the list of important festivals. It used to be that Cannes, TIFF, and Sundance were the major ones, but it can’t be denied that as the indie film scene has changed, the kinds of movies connecting with audiences just aren’t what they used to be. SXSW strikes an interesting balance between indie films and mainstream studio fare, albeit of a somewhat more elevated pedigree. It’s led to some high-profile premieres for the festival recently, including Air, Everything Everywhere All At Once and more.
This year, we got the premiere of the long-awaited The Accountant 2 (winner of the SXSW audience award), the latest Blumhouse thriller, Drop, plus the anticipated sequel, Another Simple Favor. So what were the best movies we saw? Here’s our list!

The new Batman State Farm commercial really caught people off guard. The ad, titled “Batman vs. Bateman,” featured Jason Bateman as a second-rate vigilante named Bateman, while the real Batman operates in the background. It’s amazing how the commercial managed to deliver such comic-accurate versions of Batman and his rogues’ gallery, more than some actual movies have.

The magic of shared viewing experiences and a sense of community continued to define our festival, and we’re excited for all of this year’s projects to reach even wider audiences beyond SXSW!“

Reports of the demise of South by Southwest’s music element seem to have been exaggerated, with SXSW organizers clarifying that while next year’s event will be shorter, its music presence will not be diminished.
A spokesperson for SXSW confirmed that the festival is reconfiguring as the Austin Convention Center is set to shut down for renovation. As such, SXSW 2026 will be two days shorter, cutting into what has traditionally been the festival’s music-focused second weekend. (Since 1987, a music conference with four days of programming has taken place on Wednesday through Saturday.) But next year’s event will feature an additional night of music, melding into SXSW’s film and television programming.
“We are really excited about the plans for SXSW 2026” a SXSW spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “With the Austin Convention Center closing down for three years, we believe it’s a great opportunity to put new ideas into action.

Directed by Zack Snyder, 2013’s Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and others was the first installment in the DC Extended Universe. It was a reboot of the Superman film series and went on to showcase the superhero’s origin story.

Upon release, the film received mixed reviews from critics who believed that it lacked appeal in the action sequence and was divided over Cavill’s performance. Henry Cavill is regarded as one of the best Supermans, but before he was cast for the role, Zack Snyder was considering different actors for the part, and one of those actors was Magic Mike’s Joe Manganiello.

Ben Affleck has had a long career in Hollywood, but you won’t see him surrounded by hundreds of friends as he is more interested in keeping a small, tight-knit circle of friends for a reason. While appearing at SXSW to promote The Accountant 2, Affleck reflected on the close relationship he shares with frequent collaborator Matt Damon, who turned up to add his support to the movie’s premiere, and how he really feels that quality of friends is more important than quantity.
There are many stars in Hollywood who often frequent big lavish parties, or are always seen with a whole posse of followers wherever they go. Affleck is not one of them. He doesn’t really care either. Admitting that one of his only friends in his life is Damon, Affleck told Business Insider:
“I’m really lucky to have had a friend in Matt. It's a beautiful thing.

In a world with serial killers bonded to alien symbiotes, mad scientists that have robotic appendages, and some villains are literally born in Hell, it's an impressive feat one of the Marvel universe's most feared foes is Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin of Crime. Debuting in Amazing Spider-Man #50 and inspired by classic Hollywood actor Sydney Greenstreet, Fisk shifted his focus to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, trying a number of tactics to bring down Daredevil and demonstrating just how far he's willing to go to take down the Man Without Fear and a host of other heroes who thought crossing him was a good idea.
Wielding an impressive intellect, incredible physical strength, and a drive that has seen heroes' lives crumble in front of them, it stands to reason that when bringing the character to life, the star playing them had to be suitable for the role. Over the years,...

Friends is known not only for being one of the best sitcoms ever but also for incorporating many spontaneous and unscripted moments that had even the cast struggling to keep a straight face. And David Schwimmer’s performance in one of the episodes in Season 4 did the same for his co-star Matt LeBlanc.

The episode, titled, The One With the Worst Best Man Ever, follows Ross, Joey, and Chandler getting into conflicts over who should be Ross’s best man, leading to a chaotic series of events involving the search for a missing wedding ring. “The Python Hunt” is that rare case where an indie film easily raises financing, grabs upbeat response from audiences and critics at a film festival, wins a prize, and launches multiple sales bids. After a rousing response at the big Alamo Drafthouse Lamar screening at SXSW, this colorful, populist portrait of a swath of python hunters — and by extension, America — could hit a commercial nerve.
Here’s how the filmmakers did it.
Work with your friends.
Filmmaker Lance Oppenheim brought an idea to his old Florida buddy Xander Robin (“Are We Not Cats”). They had been trying to make a movie together for years, and Robin had labored on his own film about the pet trade in the Florida Everglades that never got off the ground. The concept: cover the annual Python Challenge, a competition that pays $10,000 to the one hunter in 1,000 who brings in the most Burmese snakes, which...

The 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, which concludes on Saturday, featured a time-traveling Rv, a disemboweling unicorn, a transracial surgery and credible testimony that extra-terrestrials exist. Here’s what rose to the top, and what failed to take flight.
Homicidal Unicorns and a Singing Matthew McConaughey Stole the Show
SXSW has distinguished itself among the top film festivals with its Headliners section, a lineup of star-driven, studio-backed, crowd-pleasing premieres that thrill SXSW audiences and help launch the films into their wide releases — from “Bridesmaids,” “21 Jump Street,” and “A Quiet Place” to “Us,” “John Wick 4” and “The Idea of You.”
This year, only one Headliner fully fit the bill: The gory horror comedy “Death of a Unicorn,” starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, had the audience laughing, screaming and cheering along with its story of a pair of homicidal fantasy creatures dispatching a über-wealthy family in the Canadian wilderness.

There has been a sequel in development for Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant since the original film’s release and moderate success. In the nine years since the first film’s release, no one has exactly been clamoring for The Accountant 2, but this sequel is charming enough to win over audiences looking for an entertaining B-action picture with an A-list scale.
The Accountant 2 Review
The Accountant 2 sees Ben Affleck’s money launderer and assassin called out of his peaceful retirement when he has to investigate the death of a close friend and how it might connect to a missing person’s case and a human trafficking ring. Bill Dubuque’s script feels generic in such a way that it almost feels as if it could have been a spec script that retroactively had the characters from the first film added to it.

Jon Bernthal looks a far cry from Frank Castle as new set photos from his latest film show him looking more punishing than usual. Fresh behind-the-scenes images from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey spotlight the Daredevil: Born Again star's unrecognizable look in the upcoming historical epic.
Via ChrisNolanMedia on X (formerly Twitter), pictures from The Odyssey production show Bernthal ready for battle while rocking a bald head and beard, with the actor alongside fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Tom Holland in one of the images. Though Bernthal in a beard isn't unusual as he rocked facial hair in The Bear, his hairless appearance is a new touch.

Bernthal's set images dropped on the same day as Holland's, with pictures showing the McU's Spider-Man in full costume alongside Nolan.

Ridley Scott is a visionary director known for his striking and meticulously crafted films across numerous genres. While he’s widely recognized for sci-fi spectacles like Alien and Blade Runner, and historical epics like Gladiator, he's had a notable action-packed dip into cinematic crime. Scott's crime dramas often focus on tense power struggles, moral dilemmas, and the high-stakes world of illegal enterprises. His 2007 film American Gangster was nominated for two Oscars for its gripping biographical drama of Frank Lucas, starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
The award-winning director also helmed The Counselor, a neo-noir crime thriller written by Cormac McCarthy, which explored the consequences of greed in the Mexican drug trade. Black Rain brought Scott’s stylish visuals to a Yakuza crime story set in Japan, while Body of Lies followed high-octane espionage in the Middle East with a tense, politically charged thriller. Across these stories, Ridley Scott’s movies...

Chapter one of John Wick introduced a gritty, hardcore hitman, played by Keanu Reeves, who had retired from getting his hands dirty in the dark underworld. He gets involved in his old ways when his car gets stolen and his dog, Daisy, gets killed by the son of a Russian Gangster, Viggo Tarasov.
What makes this franchise a classic saga are the strong, palpable emotions, ranging from guilt and love to vengeance. As...

Just like December is Oscars season, with films rushing into theaters to qualify for awards, now March and April have become Emmys season for TV shows, with prestige TV hopefuls piling in before the May 31 Emmys deadline.
